I disagree, the best time for an expansion is not when you push out, because when you push and you fail you lose the expansion if they counter, and you can't defend because you lost all that mineral. the best time to push is after the expansion is up and you can defend your whole with financial ease and or backup your in fight units
How about a zerg expansion? I know you gave us the vid for zerg early expansion at 14 supply but how about a delayed expansion for zerg but also not too late.I followed your zerg stock expansion, building the pool at 14 and researching speed and getting my queen after that. But when do i get an expansion for zerg? Not too late and also not too early.
I really like your videos and they are helping me become a better player. I'm putting in a request for perhaps a series on most common rushes and a way to counter them with each of the races. I'm particularly interested on a void ray counter when I play Terrran.
@Trebis I don't agree with your expansion ideas they don't really make sense, Fast expand = dead to aggression , Attack expand = dead to losing your force on the attack. so what now ?
@Eenamder People only fast expand when they can hold off aggression. Zerg, for example, can do that against Terran because they wall off and try to tech or if they go reapers and/or hellions, spinecrawlers coupled with queens and speedlings can fend it off.
@Eenamder When you attack expand, you also don't suicide your forces. Play around with your opponent and make them chase you around. You might not even have to engage. Just make sure they know you are there so they don't push out. If a bad situation happens, you even have a window where you can cancel that expansion. His advice is basically a simple outline, but you have to fill in the details.
Your Unit Spotlight videos Should be like 1 terran unit one week then the next protoss then next zerg, and so on. So that means your due for a Terran Spotlight!!! :D Loving the videos btw really awesome!
I'd really like to see, in your spotlight videos, what counters the unit being spotlighted. People will naturally use the unit in their stategies, and it would be nice to know, going in, what to watch out for so you don't overcommit and have it cost you the game.
Thanks for the video. I got a lot of catching up to do and learning since I didn't really play the first one. Don't like having other people mop the floor with me.

should've included secret expansions :P which are so overpowering if you pull it off. needless to say, if your opponent has godly scouting skills and game sense, then you're fucked.
You should also include when your building your expansion how you obtain your workers for the expansion. Do you continuously never stop making workers at your main, split them up to go to your new expainsion, or do you make new workers at your expansion etc.
I like all of your videos especially your fundamentals but I commented elsewhere on one of your videos and my sentiment stands. Expanding as you push out is extremely risky. Your putting yourself in an all or nothing situation by doing so. Lets say the worst should happen and somehow your army gets totally destroyed. Now your stuck with an expansion, still coming up and with none of those resources and zero army. Any player with brain will counter and your done.
@ChrisTheMechanic I should have emphasized that with that kind of expansion-push, you don't have to fully commit to an attack. In fact, that is one thing I see newer players make mistakes about--if you can tell you won't win in a fight, don't fight! :-D
@ChrisTheMechanic I'm of the opinion, Agressivness wins. Also, he's not saying this is necessarily the way you should play, he's letting people know some of the common things that are done. And I've seen the attack/expand combo a lot.
@xelkar27 Timing Attacks are simple in theory but require true game experience to really know how to execute. Basically it is getting a certain amount of units to do critical damage to your opponent when they are their weakest. This requires deep knowledge of your enemy's build order and strategy. A common one would be attacking right as your opponent fast expands. They will not have the forces required to fend off the attack -usually-.
Your channel is awesome and very educational. I got some basic knowledge watching beta replays of pros, but this is the stuff i've been looking for :).
Do you plan making a harassment episode? For example why is it important to harass, when to harass, and finally how to successfully defend from harassment.
@IIVikingII Right now I don't plan on having a full episode for harassment, but those things will definitely be discussed in more Unit Spotlights....which unit are you interested in learning about?
@SC2NoobSchool I've been thinking about it and I'd go with the air harassment. Probably a chapter in defense, cause those seem to be extremely annoying (not a beta player myself). You know, how not to overreact, placing of static defense and such.
Anyway, do what you gotta do, harassment is a pretty big chapter to fill, I know. Looking forward to your next video whatever it's gonna be :).

The rule of thumb that I go by is to simply expand when you have the advantage (barring some sort of specific strat, like a Zerg early expand)
