Shooting Bar Scene - Inglourious Basterds

I think the build up to this scene was simply amazing. Tarintino often builds tension for several minutes before a shootout. Some examples include the breakfast scene in Pulp Fiction and the closing scene of Resevior Dogs. But the build up to this shootout was almost 20 minutes long. The whole time they were talking to each other you knew they were in a bad place and as soon as the Major sat down you knew that it could only end badly. The tension and the dialog between the characters was perfect

Think about how awesome Stiglitz's death was. He went out shooting a nazi's balls then, for good measure, stabbing said nazi in the back of the head multiple times. Then, he said fuck you to death after being shot at least twice in the back and he killed the bitch who shot him plus another. And it finally took a shotgun to kill him. That is how you go out with a bang.

@PrivateeRyann I agree. I know I was supposed to be disorientated with the shootout, but it is not so much the point of the scene as it is a result of the scenes before it. All the "is this going to end well?" or "are they all dead?" back and forth is just so nerve wrecking that you are just at the edge of your seat. And that is just from people talking! That is why Tarantino is an amazing director when he is at the top of his game.

Wiki recovers and kills the Nazi who shot him. The Barmen shoots Stiglitz with his shotgun. Wiki shoots the Barmen in the head. Last Nazi panics, sprays bullets and kills Wiki and the Waitress.
