  • east coast of england and the orkneys are very viking. we have festivals celibrating it

  • o_O WHF!!!!!!!! Who know where can I get information about this musik? Please! Who wrote and how long ago???

  • exactly as in Norway,Sweden and perhaps Germany

  • and in Denmark Forn Sidr still hold blots to worship the ancient Nordic Gods

  • Jeg er stolt av å være Norsk

  • Why did they have to bring christianity to Norway??? :(

  • @FrozenNorway because they were smart. Christianity wouldn't exist there if the people of the time didn't accept it over their own native religion.

  • @FrozenNorway Because the Christian interpretations of the bible encourage the applying of beliefs onto other people who haven't yet been "born again" or "saved". It's basic Christian behaviour. When you convince a figure head, in this case a king, you can destroy and replace country's entire value system.

  • I love this music, if only I knew where to download it

  • The lyrics are: "No skal barne sova, stilt det blir i stova. Mor skal bake kake, og barne skal få smake. Far han bygger båten fin, og bror han kjøyrer blakken. Søster går å sankar lin, til tråd åt vesle stakken."

  • I love this song, bånsul frå Saltdal (lullaby from Saltdal)

  • what does "bukkehorn" mean ?

  • @annavarney11 directly translated it would be goathorn i think, but that sounds awkward. :x

  • @cuzgandalfgothigh99 No, it is correct. the instrument used is the horn of a male goat.

  • @Vikingskog i know that, i never implied that it wasn't correct. i said it sounded weird in english. :|

  • hvor jeg kan finne en bukkehorn?

  • Wont play past the 26th second mark

  • Why did you take out the song number 1? It was my favorite.

  • @SeppukuDoll I didnt, i had it on private-mode for a while, but its public again now.

  • @neonorven Most antique music is quite simple. The melody just twirls for a little and falls into root quite simply and easily, and in the case of harmony and chords, accidentals are few and root is achieved in few progressions. I guess the only reason to listen to this is because of the tunings and a simplicity apparently fresh, having little use nowadays. Though I have heard a little greek music that doesnt seem have to have a strong tonic, ie, its resolution is quite ambiguous.

  • can you list me some Norvegion folk music artists... I could just found 1 and I want to learn this culture...

  • anybody know where to find some norse music?

  • Where can i buy a bukkehorn?????????????????

  • @Brjostabarn

I have no idea, I live in norway myself but have never seen one for sale. I guess if you`re gonna try to buy one you have to search the internet, and good luck with that, not too many make them nowadays...

  • @Brjostabarn Unfortunately none's selling on the internet unless you search really really hard. I tried and did not find anything. There are plenty of books regarding this particular music instrument but not the instrument itself.

  • @DKDamilos im gonna make a free viking song.

    I already made it.

Just gonna get to posting it on youtube then you can

    check it out for free!

  • is that skog or kog? and what does i mean in vikingskog?

  • @TheGeneralBurn skog. Skog means forest.

  • Hmm, this piece of music is just so good. =)

Makes me remembering the words my grandfather told me as a kid:

"In life, you must be strong as a viking and brave like a spartan <- (part of our history)."

  • @SleepyWretch i'm not european, but i agree 100% with that :3

  • and eventually, do anyone know some good synthesizers for ambient in this style? I am making my own ambient atm, as you can see on my profile, and this is exactly what i'm looking for of sounds

  • man i love all this! Can you link me, where i can buy old scandinavian instruments? :)

  • Hvilken størrelse er hornet her? Overvejer at købe et selv.

    Hilsener fra Danmark.

  • Hvilken størrelse er hornet her? Overvejer at købe et selv.

    Hilsener fra Danmark.

  • Tonight we dine in Valhalla!

  • very very good music,.greetings to all intelligent people who say . this planet is my homeland.watain fan from isatanbul tor-turkey.hail human.!!!!!!

  • It must still live if we still know it is there

  • The swedish vikings is still alive (including me) XD. serious. The viking religion is called Asa tron in sweden. And the first god was Bure.

  • is it true that there are still people who follow the religion of the vikings? I worked with one from Denmark who said I believed in this religion. someone who knows if this religion still lives?

  • Yes it has been revived(it died out in Norway in 1050, and in about 950 in denmark, bit later in sweden).

Åsatru("aesir-belief") is the common name for it,

that and Forn-sed is the two main directions of it in scandinavia.

They have blots(where you sacrifice something to the gods) in many parts of Norway.

  • thank you very much for the answer. very interesting.

  • @Vikingskog looking for help from norwegian speakers to tell me name of song on this(THE GENETIC HISTORY OF EUROPE BC 6000 -BC 1000 ) video..please.

i do competitive fighting and would love to listen to this chant before hand.

  • @randydragoncheeks Wardruna - Kauna

  • @smedaas thanks man

  • @Vikingskog iam a folower and we try to keep to the old ways but many things are just lost so we are rediscovering it

  • @Vikingskog some people here in america (all the continent, not only usa) is following that cult. specially metalheads

  • @joeranwa i consider myself an asatru, thats the closest thing there is. however we are few and far apart, for the most part the old norse culture is considered dead.

  • @pyramidheadkitten9 so you actually believe in odin or whatnot, or are you just doing this out of some kind of nostalgia?

  • @joeranwa yes the old religeon lives how so u say well if you have facebook you will know and i follow the asatru search pittsbugh pagans and join

  • @joeranwa

    of course it does!

we are a society of men n woman from all the world, and we call ourselves asatru, because we really understad our religion and what it is about ;)

  • @joeranwa yes and it is currently practiced in many countries, is extending a lot now

  • @joeranwa i am actually Åsatru and i follow the old ways and tradition :) and i say it lives and it will forever :) till the Ragnarok will come ...

  • @joeranwa

it does, I belief to the ancient gods of my germanic forefathers!

  • @joeranwa

Expanding on what Vikingskog replied with, Asatru and other such Old Ways, including at least social/community traditions, are very much alive in Scandinavia (particularly Norway and Iceland) and America. That's right - America.

Compared to something like the Christian churches it's terribly small, but there are organizations in the USA and I believe Canada.

  • @Kang5030 Well what do they even believe in? Like what are their beliefs?

  • @Bladenavor The Old Gods, the Old Ways, the idea of a freedom not easy for the followers of these new religions to grasp. The absence of notions like sin, together with high moral and duty standards. A very weak resume, but it is a start :D

  • @joeranwa You can look up Germanic Heathenism or Germanic Paganism. It's a blanket term for the Old Norse Beliefs, Old German Beliefs, Old Anglo-Saxon beliefs, and pretty much any other pre-Christian belief of the Germanic peoples. I myself am a Germanic Heathen.

  • @joeranwa Hm, late reply... But yes, people still worship the Norse gods, me amongst them. But the faith have changed, so to speak, and it isn't practiced like it was in the viking age.

  • @joeranwa yes, I know that there are some people in Norway who practice Åsatru. Probably in the rest of Scandinavia too

  • i hope i get seat in Valhalla and drink with odin !!

  • @hannes0000 u better stay away from thor with the hammer ;) ( he has a bit of a temper ;) )

  • hail odin !!!

  • Can anyone tell me where can I download it?

  • @nikepl check the next viking music video for the answer on where to download it.

  • use youtube downloader.. it the easyest :)

  • anyone knows any band who plays that kind of music?

  • No it's because the Christians flag it, they reckon Norse Paganism is evil, even though all their holidays are stolen from our ways, Christmas = Winter Solstice.

we are growing in number again though hail Odin hail Thor.

  • hail odin!

  • @shermonator88 Hail Almighty Odin and Thor let the Berserker rise again....

  • @shermonator88 Drecksnazi. Du mißbrauchst das Alte starke für deine eigenen ekelhaften Rassenvorstellungen.

Heidentum ist weit entfernt von Hitler & seinen Jungs.

Ihr seid alle so arm. :P

    Drecksnazi.

  • Write in english or Norwegian.
