  • At the same time, the practice of pure meditation and self knowledge is unuseful without letting the others take part in it. You could be the deepest and most sharp mind of this world: it's of no use at all until you apply it in helping who's in need.

  • I'm a ShorinjiKempo black belt (shodan jukenshi), I must totally agree with Shinkatana420:there's no difference between ekkin gyo (techniques practice) and chinkon gyo (meditation practice), they're one falling into another in a perfect circle. Ekkin gyo is nothing without a strong perception of ourselves, a sense of what is right and a deep empathy and compassion that allows us to understand our enemy and feel what are his weaknesses, and to work them over.

  • I would put my two pence into the comments page, but I'm hungry and I feel that having dinner is a better use of my time, maybe more people should do the same. Great video, impressive to watch. Thank you for the post.

  • ok i admit shorinji has someting to do with buddhism (i just looked up my book) and in some parts it teaches the doctrines of siddhartha(buddha) and bodhidharma, but so doshin has inflicted a lot of his own teachings and many are philosophys about fighting.

so there is a big difference between buddhist monks and shorinji kempo - i'm quite sure about that

  • SK monk or buddist monk ..there both monks.

Martail arts and Zen have the same purpose-Heart.

In both ways,it can only be learned through experience.

    If I explained,you'll get more lost =)

    Why not do some training.

  • they are buddhist monks, slightly different from other forms of martial arts. originated from chinese shaolin kungfu but over years formed it's own style

  • buddhist monks? shorinji has nothing to do with buddhism at all. and only the founder was doing shaolin kungfu. and the difference to other martial arts is that you even develop your mind and not only your body

  • originally So Doshin was teaching buddhism to which he added later self defense technics. So like almost every japanese martial art, SK is very relative, at least at the origins, to zen buddishm; and the practitionners of the main center are monks.

  • i do not understand why they do not wear japanese cloths ?

  • at 3:07 quite similar to Aikido nikyo& kote gaeshi tehnique :)

  • @sunreaper2 Yes, the human body is only one , and there only few ways to kick it, two or 3 ways to bend it , 2 or 3 to throw it and so on ... It is the mind and the spirit of the technique that changes

  • I gonna take my first belt test in Shorinji kempo tomorrow, wish me good luck :)

  • you should give it try before saying that. that's pure ignorance.

  • son la polla!!!

  • The opponent simply submits. It seems that their actions are coreographed. In real fight, this is not the way it looks.

  • they have to submit a little otherwise they can be killed or seriously injured. I know for sure.

  • I just started with Shorinji Kempo. This video is great and gives me even greater ambition. Also helps with practising tenchi ken by watching it
