this isnt the Marble Cone fire is it ? the last bad fire had so many lighting strikes the entire state was burning it seemed like, fire fighters never had a chance, the the sheriff was arresting anyone who stayed that ventured out to help his neighbors. Kenny Wright was livid and understandably so. the CDF wouldnt let the locals who knew the terrain help it was amazing it never crossed the HWY to the west side. to anyone who was there CDF crews, local you had an impossible job.

I lived in Big Sur during the lightning storm that led to this HUGE fire. It was actually more than 11 fires that merged together and scared the SHIT outta everyone there. People lost thier homes for MILES.

Everyone who visits LOVES Big Sur...I am a huge fan.

The fire departments are equiped with no more than water and garden hoses against fires of this magnitude.

with afleet of 747 size planes a fire like this can be put out in hours.

and if suposedly intelligent people stoped build junk disposable houses and build them fireproof and equipped in a way that they never have to leave them in any weather event, any little fire like this would never be an issue.

Yes, they didn't want to kill the endangered animals that might have been there if they cut down trees to make a fire break. I heard that in some areas of california, people aren't allowed to cut their own grass in thinking that they might accidentally kill the endangered frogs that live there...well, so the fire spread burning down their houses and killing whatever slow small endangered creatures were there from spreading through the tall grass that shouldn't have been there in the 1st place.

I'm quite irritated about hearing this whole thing about people saying, "well...theres just nothing we could have done to stop there forest fires". MY GOD, think about all that WOOD that we could have used from making fire breaks from all those large trees. Enough wood has burned doen needlessly within the past decade or 2 to give EVERYONE ON EARTH a big home. My grandmother in GA lives across the street from people that grow dinky small 15-20ft tall pine trees just to make wood.

The mixture is water, ammonia, red dye, and sand.

The only danger from it is to be underneath the drop zone, it can knock you unconscious.

Yes. It is. I was in Carmel Valley the day the lightning came through. There is rarely lightning on the coast of California and never in June. We could see the smoke of the still small fire over the ridge of Carmel Valley in the Ventana Wilderness. That was almost two weeks ago.
