@zeroeffects88 a hollywood musician retard, meaning as much a musician any one with an insipid whimsy for "playing rock"..like a teenager....bc hollywood stars are gods in our culture, they confuse their "talent" in films for the talent to do anything
@carlo88moe He is a talented successful actor, and an extremely talented musician. His opinion is just as valid as that homeless guy living in the alley, but If you were making a movie about someone, would you rather have a successful, well known actor, who's become quite the role model for a lot of young actors, or someone no ones ever heard of?
jdepp has always been a punk ..used to be my fav...he hated mainstream..this is not surprising he really loved the clash...this is his time..his persona..always has been..box office star or not...
@calboy64 LOL! Yeah they did. All punks/(influenced by punk) pretended to be angry about shit. I love punk music. But yeah, punk rockers are mostly full of shit and hypocritical. Same thing with the Pistols, Ramones the list goes on.
Is this guy talking about punks lol? Too much of an arty farty explanation for me sounds too much like someone tryna explain a damien hirst artwork. Depp was cool in Pirates of the Caribbean tho.
Mr. Depp is paying attention and has good taste. long ago he bought The Central when it was on it's last legs and turned into The Viper room ... even moved next door. he has also helped put out records for bluesman Chuck E. Weiss (Extremely Cool).
I think The Clash are THE most important band of all time. Anyone who doesn't like the clash can go die... Johnny Depps alright too I understand whats he means
WTF? Mister Depp is right on. I was out of High School when i stumbled onto the Clash. And it was that sincerity Depp mentions that attracted me, and everyone else who fell for them. It was more than the fact that they "were fucking kick ass". Much much more than that...unless you were there, in that time, it's hard to explain.
Ok I'll retract what I said I'll even apologize but you have to tell me what YOU know and think and based on what experience you have. I love his acting I just listen to the way he talks and it is very hard to place the affected accent he is using -my impression because I'm an ordinary nobody is that he doesn't sound like any real people I know so it comes off as pretentious(proper spelling) to me. -granted he is a celeb and in another strata but why TRY to act and sound SO different?
@LedSlash71 I disagree, he is pretentious. And you don't know him any better than I do. He also defended Polanski for raping a 13 year old, how's that for your "incredible guy".
I always respected his acting. Now I have more respect for the man himself. He said it all in 20 seconds.Don't forget what a great tipper he is.That say's alot about his character.
dude didn't say a fucking thing. 20 seconds wasted. smart guy talking about one of the most important bands in the world and he said the most milquetoast drivel. lame.
The proper effect, most likely pertains to the feelings and thoughtfulness The Clash's music invokes in someone, not just some random punk attitude, Joe always said he wasn't for that, but rather understanding that the music is about something, and something real at that, was most important. It would thus have the proper effect.
Also, the truth in the attack, you honestly don't know what he meant?
Any true Clash fan will know what the truth in the attack is.
On December 23rd, 1987, a girl named Abby went to bed. However, while she was walking to the bathroom, she saw a skeleton. She was scared and decided to simply go to bed, sleep, and forget about it. However, 6 months, 6 days, and 6 minutes later, the skeleton she saw came up to her and killed her. If you don't post this to 5 other videos in 6 minutes, 6 seconds, and 6 milliseconds, the same thing will happen to you. Trust me, it happened to a friend of mine
Fuckin hell, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson, George Jung, The Clash, and more... I used to think Johnny Depp was a dickhead, but I think you can tell a lot about a person by who their heroes are... Now I think he's brilliant!
If you read and understood my message you'd understand that I wasnt just talking about him listening to the Clash. He played many roles in abstract movies and done them great justice. And he doesn't just play the parts in movies that'll do well in the box office, he immerses himself in the characters because of the interest he has in them, and in the authors of these stories. I have yet to see him fail to play a role brilliantly.

Even though I think Depp is a brilliant actor and I love The Clash, Depp has always rubbed me the wrong way. He tries to be way too cerebral about EVERYTHING.
Nah. I think he's just a smart guy. People expect celebrities to be airheads, and find it shocking when one turns out to be a three-dimensional person.

This is a great film, and Clash is great without authorizing like this. It's much more interesting how deep "ordinary people" love Clash! I love them..

ok i dont listen to the clash but i do know about johnny.i really really really hate that some people only care for his looks because he's beatiful inside & out, no matter for what you think. /mean about what he's saying?
all i hear is that he likes the clash & the effect it had on him?
you dont even know how to spell his name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .i dont just like him for his looks i like him because he is the only celbrety with some decincy and respect!
btw its spelt Johnny Depp
I am the type of fan that feels why fight over who likes Johnny more, no I feel that we should be glad that other people like him too! and share information about what you like about him and things like that!
Why is Depp here? Johnny Depp appears in a Aki Kaurismaki movie called "L.A without a map" and Kaurismaki and Joe Strummer were close friends, Joe Strummer appears in Kaurismaki movie called "I hired a contract killer" Depp and Strummer has both worked with Shane McGowan and the Pogues too..
he was a bestman to paul simonon while he was in relationship with kate moss i think ...... he probably meet joe and mick aswell so he's not just some guy talking about some band......
Regardless of his personal connections with the Clash, he does come off as just some guy talking about some band. He doesn't really seem to add much to the documentary, other than some sort of "cool guy" banal comments about the Clash. If he wasn't a celebrity, I don't think Temple would have included him. At least he other celebrities in the film had some interesting stories to tell - Steve Buscemi in particular.
not just any band, he was talkin about the clash. The best band that have walked the face of the earth. Search thte clash on youtube and im sure ull find thousands ov other ppl who agree

ok i dont listen to the clash but i do know about johnny.i really really really hate that some people only care for his looks because he's beatiful inside & out, no matter for what you think. /mean about what he's saying?
all i hear is that he likes the clash & the effect it had on him?

Why is Depp here? Johnny Depp appears in a Aki Kaurismaki movie called "L.A without a map" and Kaurismaki and Joe Strummer were close friends, Joe Strummer appears in Kaurismaki movie called "I hired a contract killer" Depp and Strummer has both worked with Shane McGowan and the Pogues too..

Can't wait to see this film!
And to all those bashing Depp; you will NEVER be half as cool as he is...deal with it. ;)
ravenwoman333 4 years ago 3
he was a bestman to paul simonon while he was in relationship with kate moss i think ...... he probably meet joe and mick aswell so he's not just some guy talking about some band......
jebisemajmune 4 years ago 3
He is also godfather to Paul's children, I believe.
