This is one of the very few reason I love not just the Hawaiian culture, but the polynesian culture in general. I may not be hawaiian but I can definitely I value and admire the culture just as much as if I were. <3
<3 i feel more homesick than usual tonight! I've been in Fresno, California for ten years...and I've always missed Hawaii, but not like this. I am going back home to get my bachelors though! :) Only a year and then it's back home I go.
I met Keali'i Reichel in Miami Beach in 1995, when he came for a food benefit sponsored in part by Shep Gordon. He came w/Mark Ellman and Michael Moore(Old Lahaina Luau). Keali'i told me all about Hawai'i, so I moved to Maui in 1998. Stayed 8 years, had to return to mainland in 2006, my Pops had cancer. My Pops passed on 10/31/11, God rest his soul. When I get enough money, gonna' come back to Maui. It's the only place I ever lived that felt like home. My heart and soul are still there...Aloha
I miss home, but I retire from the Gov. in two years so that would be most excellent. Hey man ain't no room for that prejudice crap man! Hawaii people supposed to be a very loving people and I'm always defending Hawaii about that subject.
I love this man's music. I have just discovered him by accident. What a national treasure his voice is! I am not from Hawaii, but this makes me strangely homesick for a place I have only been able to visit on a stop over flight years ago. Kisses and love to you Hawaii!
Oh, I just cry, it's such a deep longing for the simplicity, beauty and harmony, for peace. Thank you from my heart for this music, it's simply divine. ALOHA to all the poeple in this world.
@Madametranquille I've heard it kind of pronounced like "Kay-ah-lee-E Rye-shell" by my old Hawai'ian roomate, but it looks more like "Ray-shell" from the spelling to me.
My beloved Hawaii.... one day I shall return for my final rest...May God Bless our Hawaiian nation.... when I close my eyes and listen to keali'i Reichel I am home.......
Im from Oahu but now i live in Cincinnati, Ohio (for college)....... I've been here for four years now and still cant get used to the weather. I plan to come back home after I graduate, thank goodness! Haʻo wau ia 'oe. Hawaii
I miss Hawaii. I miss the music. The people. The food. Hula. Merrie Monarch. The flowers. The rainbows. The lush, green mountains. The sunshine. The beaches. Pidgin English. Shakas. The smiles. Driving on H-2. God, I miss Hawaii!
It's one thing to listen to this beautiful song and yet another completely different way to see this song through pictures of the Hawai'i and her people. The first time I viewed this video, I yearn for the Aloha that is missing here in the Mainland. Only in Hawai'i can I get that feeling. Everytime I go for a visit, I make plans to move there...go back to my roots.

fuuck...everybody on this shit is homesick including me...this song is the official homesick song for hawaiians.... im going back...not gonna be another statistic and get stuck living miserable cuz im somewhere else...who cares if the economy in hawaii is bad and the state income tax is the highest in the country...n micronesians and filipinos keep overflowing the place...ainokea...gotta get back to my poke, beer. L&L, zippys, steak plates, lau laus, kalua pig, poi, perfect weather all year long
This is my favorite song...im half hawaiian and half puerto rican...i take pride in my nationality bcuz its such an odd mix..Im 18 and bcuz i was an army brat my mom made sure i kept my hawaiian blood as pure as it could get...i was raised playing the ukulele and dancing hula...nd i was taught by my great granparents at a young age how to speak the language fluently..as well as dancing salsa and speaking spanish..Anyway this song reminds me of home nd i cant wait to go bac this summer.HOMESICK
I wish i was back in o'ahu, being very happy and peaceful but traveling to the mainland was very... much of a changing experience when i was little :) you cant find no other beautiful places other then in hawaii.. :) Mahalo for such a beautiful song and sung by the greatest.
Fortunately, winter is now half over and within a months time, the weather will start getting warmer and daylight savings time will start in the first weekend in March as it has done since 2007. :)
Heard this song on the plane from Hawaii to San Francisco, I was crying so much, it was the first time my boyfriend and I had been separated after 3 years of dating, it was hard but it always takes me back to that year.
I love Keali'i's voice, I was in a dance group and always was the one to do a solo to most of Keali'i's songs:)
We're actually married now, we've now been a military family for almost 6 years. I still love this song, still dance to it as if it was my first time hearing it and still cherish it as if its the only song that would keep me sane during my hard times.
Thanks so much for the beautiful comment, Mahalo:)
I love this video and song........... just makes me feel very sick wat this dam goverment is doing to this "BEAUTIFUL" place..... Who ever loves Hawaii as much as me would agree on this statement cause its very true....... " Glad we live Hawaii"

When I went to Hawaii in 1997, I heard this song a few times and it entered my soul. I spent 2 years of buying and sampling Hawaiian CDs until I found Keali'is record. Since then peace has returned. I shall never forget the Hawaiian people, their beauty of person and nature and the peace and tranquility of their lives. I pray that I will be able to visit there again before I die, because I know this is as close the heaven as there is on earth.

@Madametranquille Say it Kay-ah-lee-hee. Hawaiian pronounciation is similar
to Japanese. a is ah, e is eh, i is ee.
