I am so happy I got to see this attractions before they changed it. It was such a perfect ride, it saddens me that they added the movie characters. I feel the reasons why its such a great ride is that there are no characters from any movie, Capitan Hook isn't in the ride, nor is Cpt, Long John Sliver. their absences makes the ride timeless. now we don't feel as we are going back in time, now we feel as if we are going into a movie. It may never feel as close to real as it use to.
@GeoWing2 You're wrong. Even with Jack Sparrow, et al., the ride is STILL as timeless as ever. And any and all movie characters are timeless as well. And the whole "going back in time" feeling is still present in the ride as well.
It also still feels real, so please relax, take it easy and learn to embrace change.
@disneynut06 There is a difference between change and manufacturing art to sell a product. The ride in itself is a piece of art. It was once good and now it is made to sell a product, namely the movies. Would you embrace someone changing the Mona Lisa just to sell a product?
This Roger Broggie guy is confusing me. The Imagineer Roger Broggie was born in 1908 and died in 1991. These interviews do not look that old and the Roger Broggie in this video doesn't look that old. Is he Roger Jr. and the brother of Michael or am I going mad?
@BL99Ding Yes, but they also replaced the boat captain with Barbosa, which kind of ruined it for me because the boat captain was one of my favorite characters. It's still the best ride in the world, though!
The ride is still the same overall. The additions of Jack Sparrow, et al. did not ruin the ride at all, so no need to be sad or crying, folks. Change is a part of life...and Walt always wanted his parks to change as the years go by (a permanent "work in progress", if you will).
At times like this, progress is not meant to be feared.
...walt disney...how did he die? And when?

I wish I was born in the 60's so I could on the older ride. The new one isn't as fun.
performingfreak11 2 years ago
you wouldn't have needed to go back that far. the ride was refurbished in 2005 and reopened in 2006.
