  • Subbed!

  • Keep up the good work, great vid!

  • Flippin adorable. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that hoof if he wanted to get your attention for a treat! xD Awesome trick though!

  • Brava!!! For your trick AND for your lovely, refreshing attitude!!! You AND your horse. :)

  • We got a percheron from a pmu farm in canada. they all closed down and all of the poor horses were destened for slaughter. We bought our Owen before he came down to Texas for slaughter. He came with 28 other horses, and thankfully a rescue took them all in before they left the shelter lot where they were housed over night. Every on of those horses got good homes, but unfortunantly hundreds of horses were sent to slaughter because of the lack of adopters.

  • Such a beautiful horse! I love these big breeds!

  • cool...we just rescued an awesome percheron from a feedlot damn near starved and deston for slaughter. he is the sweetest, most gentile horse I've ever met. We gave him a FB page: Bishop #980 if you want to follow his progress

  • he is soo cute!

  • she got a booty

  • this is awesome!

  • Beautiful!

  • meio tarada

    (a mulher nao o cavalo)

  • Awesome job! I am still trying not to get draged through the mud while leading my 17 hand percheron ;)

  • watch out your vagina he may kick you

  • the percheron on the right is fat. the percheron on the left wants to bone the one on the right

  • Very neat :)

  • that's VERY dangerous

  • yummy horse... im in love

  • Hey shellylanette Horses kick with their front legs, its actualy more worse then any other kick. its striking out to bring you down, lol, my donkey does it to our vet. she was abused before we got her so she is scared of men. Okay, love the video gonna go home and teach it to ALL my donkeys lol :) thanks for posting this!

  • My 2 year old loves this video!

  • that horse is absolutly beautiful and huge :D i love it :D

  • Great job. I am working on tricks with my Percheron Prince. So far we got the curtsy bow. Hope to have him laying down this year. They say the drafts aren't good for trick training. . . I say that's hogwash! Don't worry about that comment down their from "chrissylove92" . . you obviously recognize this by the comments at the end of your video. My suggestion is the striking movements last and the bowing/head-down/submissive moves first.

  • This is equine terror!!! Yes lets teach the 1800 pound horse to strike his leg forward for a carrot and call it shaking hands !! TRY A CLICKER !! It's safer !! CLASSIC HUMAN ERROR HERE !!! GEEEEZZZZZZZ!

  • @chrissylove92 >>>>>>>for your info CLICKER training is torture and plain simply St*pid! she gives him a treat which is a good reward....!..human error....yeah youre the human error here! GEEEEEZ did your parents click at you every time you did something good? now tell me how a Clicker is much safer than a carrot?....teaches the same thing!....to not have the problem of the horse strike at you just because and when you didnt ask him...is called change the way you teach them! not the reward!

  • @babebeauty20 LOL clicker training is torture haha the difference from the carrot and the clicker is sound learning not hmmmm there is a carrot or some other treat let me strike ! hah i pity any animals you own !

  • @chrissylove92 Alot of big time trainers use treats like carrots and apples and horse cookies. But thats just the way I`d do it. I don`t like clickers.

  • so cute!

  • great horse. cute ;D

  • Awe he is a good boy:) He is also very handsome ! Good Job!

  • Aww he just wants to play, made me smile, thanks for sharing :)

  • good job

  • That is the cutest thing ever . ya'll both did a great job . you should be proud of your horse and you . once again that is a amazing great job .

  • good stretching for him too :)

  • recojidasdelapewa

  • What a BEAUTIFUL boy he is!!

  • wow he has a neck on him!

  • @kuniana What the hell did she do to you? She's teaching her horse to do tricks, not neglecting him, what's so wrong with that? He looks pretty happy to me, so what's the problem? And to wish death on someone like that, your fucking psychoatic! GET A LIFE!!

  • Great job teaching him but that isnt the best way, By standing infront your putting yourself in danger. I always taught my horses from the side. Start with small paws then get bigger and from the side they cant knee or stamp on you by accident

  • What a beautiful horse you have! :D Great job to by the way!

  • my percheron is 5, she learns really esay but she has horsey add, keeping her attention long enough to do this would be a blessing, lol

  • im sure people dont like what im gonna say know..

2:51 isnt enthusiasm.. he should only do that when you want him to..

n treats are bad for your horse 2.. they will get spoiled.. sometimes they wiil bite. just cause they are used to treats and they dont want to wait any longer ..

i know its fun to play with your horse :) but you can treat a horse with just 10 seconds of just nothing.. just stand there for a moment and relax.. they will understand they did the right thing you know!

  • @MarliekeMarlieke That is enthusiasm. If any animal knows that doing something over and over again means it will get a treat, it will do it. Not to be mean, nasty, or vicious, but just because it wants a treat and knows the behavior is what gets the treat. If someone wants to spoil their horse they are entitled to do so. Unless you're a horse trainer and/or they asked for your advice, then you really shouldn't be trying to tell an adult -or anyone else- what they should do with THEIR horse.

  • dice ross que cuanto quierees por ese caballillo dice que que prescio lo quere ahora ya mismo

  • he is gorrrrregousss!!!!!!

  • Beautiful horse! Obviously U have a great relationship with him, but IMHO (& I'm sure plenty of ppl won't agree) is that this is a bad trick 2 teach a horse. We enjoy teaching our horses 2 do cute stuff like bowing & dancing, but we never teach them 2 strike out, especially 4 a treat. He will get into a habit of raising his foot if he thinks he can get a carrot from U (as U proved in the video), catching U off guard, resulting in injury. There are safer tricks 2 teach, better 4 U and horse.

  • @Showannas My thought exactly, but it's her life. I used to sleep next to mine and everyone thought I was crazy for doing that. I am not the most experienced horseman but I personally find this breed to be the most loyal and exclusive to their owner. You will never catch me lying down anywhere near an Arabian. Either way I gotta say that is the biggest horse I have ever seen anyone shake hands with.

    Kewl vid =)

  • @FledglingAnimator Hey, I have a beautiful Arabian gelding, and he's the sweetest thing ever. He's just as calm and loyal as this horse up in the video. Not all Arabians are stupid and wild. It's the people that let them get away with everything and don't work on de-spooking their Arabians that give them a bad name. My horse is the most loyal horse I've ever owned, and he's my first Arabian too. Not all Arabians are crazy. Just saying.

  • @TheCowgirl001 Haha, stupid and wild. Well I never said they were crazy, but I certainly thought it. There are exceptions to every rule and hopefully you got yourself one of the stolid ones. I was just trying to think of the breed that was most opposite of Perch.

I appreciate the selling points of an Arabian like anyone else. They certainly are one of a kind. Every one I ever dealt with was a character. Either way I guess you gotta talk for your horse cuz they can't do it themselves.

  • @Showannas well, it's not good on the trick side, but isn't it good that it lifts it's leg? It makes checking it for injuries and stretching it's legs a lot easier......

  • @Breyerobsessed27 Very true. I did compliment her on the relationship she had with her horse; I'm just saying that I personally would not teach my horse to strike out for a treat as a reward for fear of injury. It IS her horse, she may do whatever she likes. May she have continued success teaching him other wonderful tricks!

  • gorgeous horse xx so cute

  • How tall is he?And when did Percherons stop growing?

  • @DarkeKyra I have a percheron and they stop growing at 4 years old hope that helped

  • @bffttwe Percherons do not stop growing at 4yrs... they reach maturity at 6 yrs old, and that doesnt necessarily mean they will stop growing then..

  • hes gorgeous!! i love it how u run around n hes like 'come back with my carrots!' :L my next door neighbour has a 16.2hh percheron who i ride n hes fab. percherons r beautiful horses

  • He's a gorgeous animal. Looks like a real sweet pea. :)

  • you can also just pick the foot up and say shake and they will catch on i tap mine on her chest or say "say hellow" and she shakes

  • Absolutely love this video!!!

  • lmao i got a horse that dus this but i say leg when we want him 2 shake lmao

  • awesome :D

  • My favorite horse. I'm currently in a large animal veterinary class and this is one of three horses I had assigned to do a report on. I love 'em cause their just do huge and awesome looking.

  • A friend of mine has a pair of Black Percheron brothers and their names are Dandy and Toby.

Beautiful horse and what a great and patient job of training him. You two make a great team!

  • Looks like you have some great fun with him, he's absolutley gorgeous! Great trick

  • I think this is great! What a sweetie.

Also, for those who think this is "demeaning" or the animal is being taught to "whore" itself: horses are social, domesticated animals much like dogs. Horses follow the band leader or in the case of human socialized animals, their trainer or owner. Animals are rather pragmatic. An animal wouldn't do something it didn't want to if the positive reinforcement weren't acceptable to them.

  • OMG, that's sooo cute!!!!

  • NICE HORSE;;;;

  • hehehe! @2:34 ..."Where are those carrots woman?!?"

  • @gypsyjumper hahahahaahahah thats so cute :)

  • Stupid horse tricks.

  • @Khamomil lol guarenteeed you dont have a horse, hence why you're saying this.

  • @Khamomil I dont see the problem, the horse doesnt really care about dignity as long as hes getting a treat, and if he was embarrassed about it he wouldnt do it obviously, its a harmless trick thats supposed to be fun

  • @Khamomil stfu.

the horse looks happy enough. i'm sure he doesn't really care about anything as long as he gets a carrot

bloody hell, as soon as you log onto youtube you think you're an expert!

  • gorgous hors ebut trick is rubbish tbh

  • your horse is beautiful

  • the next video it could be a chiken giving his wing or dancing tha macarena : D

  • You might very well call me a wet blanket, but the down side of teaching your horse to give his paw, is that you might find yourself one day with a big black and blue mark on your shin! I know, because I had a boyfriend who had some fun with this, until it wasn't that fun any more.

  • your not a wet blanket my friend ken had the same fun with teaching his 1600 lb Percheron/Friesian cross to "dance" or bounce back and forth when he hears music you play music there he'd go like a hyper active kid on a smart and final size box of pixie sticx Jumbo Robes and a ice cold case of Jolt Cola Extra Cherry Blast lets just say i for got and he was in the trailer

  • @Aliceinwonderland49

If the worst thing you ever suffer working around horses is a bruised shin, consider yourself extremely lucky.

  • XD thats so cool!

  • Well done! :) Looks like you guys have a great relationship. Beautiful horse. I wish more of this info and training ideas were around when I was young and had my horses. Oh well, perhaps someday... :)

  • Woww...Im Gonna try that tomorrw:L:P

    Xxx

  • such a cute hosey! oh my gosh lol ! so pretty my horse does this trick but shes not quite as big as him shes 15.3hh n shes a warmblood lol she also smiles, kisses, hugs, bows and walks backwards lol and all my tricks were done through monty roberts!

  • beautiful horse!

  • hi:) if you are interested in such techniques as shown in filmiku is cordially invited to read the book.: "Heartland" .. is the best book about horses that I read recently ..:)

  • you sad person dont you no dat those books are fiction lol

  • and books may be fiction but the methods involved are real and effective ... and are effective because they are written on the basis of another book, "the man who listens to horses" --

    M. Roberts, which are documentary and book as far as possible based on the facts (true )...:)

in the future try to make fewer mistakes: P

  • im sorry that you think i made a mistake as i did not!

sorry if my comment upset you, but i was only stating the obvious (about the books being fiction). but i do agree that the methods and techniques are real as i have read all the heartland series and mostly enjoyed them, i also have read "monty roberts the man who listens to horses" he is such an inspiration.

    7wildbadmad7 3:)

  • @7wildmadbad7 But the ppl who write them usually seem to know their stuff.

  • What a sweet connection! It is so clear you love him and take great care of him. A normal horse, no matter how big does not know they are bigger than us and can kill us. I'm sure you already know about being clear about your space especially with these big guys because they can injure unintentionally. Unfortunately, with this trick, the clarity of your space is being blurred and this could be construed by him as inviting him to violate your space. Best regards, Jane

  • He almost looks like my Belle!

  • Aww so Cute , My pony counts to 3 O_O

LOLL Id love to teach him to do this x

  • 2:18- "Don't run away from me, girl! C'mere! Just gimme the carrot! Jeez..."

  • Hi - thanks for this great video!

I used a similar technique to teach my horse the bow but I never had the idea to use it for a shake - I really have to test that :-)

  • nice do you teach him to let you blow him or does he do that naturally?

  • He's a beauty!

  • Aaw so sweet :D good boy there!

  • hes a big boy

  • Great progress!

  • Can you ride that monster? :) i want one ! thanks

  • i remember my perchon mollie i loved her she was bay i sold her to a little girl in aracadia i think that was the name lol

  • do animals ever receive praise from any other species aside from humans?

  • 44gatti92 that is a Percheron horse, they are very big,my friend in Kansas owns one,his name is Captin..They are very pretty horses actually and they are VERY gentle giants

  • what tipe of horse is that one? what breed?

  • carrot monster!:D

  • hey, wow it´s awesome :) i love horses also!! and i´ll try that with my horse :P (my english isn´t soo good, because i am from germany :D)..

  • @SchokoKeksMaus Ist sehr gut!

  • @SchokoKeksMaus your doing really good with your enlgish.. just though id point that out

  • what is the big deal in that ??? horses are extremely intelligent , obviously as shows in this video , smarter than their owners

  • im gonna try to each 37 horses that! lol maybe 1

  • if they get really good you could teach them some chorus line stuff.

  • thats sooo cute <3 <3 <3

  • shut up shelleylanette. That was amazing.

  • i love drafts. we have a big percheron/quarter horse cross named sally at my coaches barn. she's only 7 and she's like a baby sitter to all the little kids. she's such a sweet heart. your boy is beautiful!

  • What a big horse and so gentle.

  • I love how he's hustling you for a carrot the moment his foot comes up.

  • I dont know how i could just give him one treat. that is just way to cute for one, i would have to give him like, a lot of treats, not to many though, cuz i wouldnt want him to colic! lol, great job, you should be proud of yourslef and of your horse.

  • how cute!:)

  • I love the way he looks when you first try it. He's sniffing you and all like "What in the world are you doing to me?!! He's a beautiful horse. I love black Percheron, actually I love all draft breeds.

  • Big paw? That's one big horse! Great job.

  • My dad and I love this. Every weekend when he comes down he wants to see this video.

  • thats such a beautiful horse! my moms friend in texas has a percheron just like it!he is amazingly adorable =D good luck with him! and cool trick lol

  • Aww! Haha, that looks like a lot of fun! What a cute boy you've got, and he must be 3 years older now since that video was posted. =) Glad to see he didn't hoof you, I have a half'n'half Shire/Trakehner mare so I have a little experience with dinnerplate sized hooves too. I give your Toby an A+, and A stands for Apple!

  • WOW! Nice boy ye got there!! :) I'd like to start stuff like that with my 18.3 and 1/2 clyde when I get some spare time :)

  • Beautiful, beautifuil horse. Enjoy your good fortune. I have a Percheron filly just under 2 years old. Bought in very bad shape at auction. So, you are fortunate.

  • nice horse!!

  • You are so lucky to have such a beautiful horse :)

  • whoa, amazing animal.

    Well trained and big. LOL

    i love him already haha.

  • Hes a good horse (: but he could easily accidently hit you when u dont want him to though

  • what a good horse my frieds if u say sit it will sit n then u say hoov or paw and it will giv u iy :D:D

  • i do tht to pull the wrinkled skin out from under my horses girth..

  • nice horse ...What about the song? where I can find It? Please!!!

  • Its called I'm pretty sure, "The Tennessee BlackTop rock" Sry if I'm wrong, I love this too! lol Its uaually on the raido sung by a man, the times I've herd it.

  • wow you have a beautiful horse, what breed is it?

  • Percheron

  • lol it says in the title :)

  • thats easy, i learned the son of the icelandic horse i ride once a week that after 5 minutes!

  • and i dont use a whip, rope or anything!

  • so cute horse

  • 3 of the horses at my yard do that just say legg and they do it :D lol

  • hey all you animal freanks, why dont you stop worrying about what somone does to thier own horse. maybie you should try to worry about some humans before you get all high and mighty about somones horse. you nut jobs worry to much.

  • CUTE!! and good work

  • well you sure dont want him doing that when you dont want him to. unless he is used in the circus.

  • Too cute!!!

  • He's just adorable.

  • What a fabulous horse and trainer. Please tell me what is the name of the music, & who is it by. Good luck Mike.

  • Awh He's adorable :)

Toby is really pretty, how old is he?

  • i almost got crushed by on i was playing with it i love these horses

  • im trying to teach my stud to do that. he's lame so we cant ride him. i dont wanna get rid of him..lol.. so puttin him to good use

  • whats that mean. im from the us.. does it mean that i dont want to kill him?

  • Sorry if my comment was hasty. I have all the respect for people that adopt/keep lame horses and still provide them a nice life.

However I think "backyard breeding" custom is continued by people who breed bad horse quality. Meaning you should geld your horse if he is not quality material or if it not intended for breeding.

Why do you have a lame stud instead of a lame gelding?

  • he's colored for it. when he was able to ride he was something. looked like a saddlebred coming down the road..lol.. he was nice. so we only bred him 1 time to see if we got a good colt. we are thinking of gelding though. we have 2 mares and it gets tough.

  • i wish i had that horse!! really beautiful and reminds me of one of my favorite movies black beauty!

  • haha :) I wouldn't give any carrots to passing children, but beautiful horse, real enthusiasm.

  • Awe he's gorgeous!!

  • beautiful horse and trainer

  • Its not a so good trick, sorry.

If he see a treat, he will start waiving with his foot. I have been kicked in my head because the son of the horse i ride once a week, can that trick. He saw that i was having a carrot, and he kicked me in my head.

  • very clever, but actually a bad habit, if he does this to someone he thinks has a treat, they could be hurt, especially a kid. sorry

  • Is it possible that no kids ever get around this horse? Even if they did, if you let them know that he knows this trick and warn them about it, I can't see the need for hand-wringing worry time. I don't think this would hurt someone anyhow unless he was trained to violently hoist his legs into the air at you...he just gently lifts them! So, stop worrying, I can see your hair turning gray, cherokeestables!

  • what a handsome boy :). hehe love it :p

  • He's beautiful! :D Nice trick!

  • hes such a tank :)

  • Nice big boy!

  • which is of these animal the horse?

  • cute horsey:)

  • very cool

  • Good job and that was a good point to make at the end regarding to watch out for the unexpected. Keep up the good work. :)

  • it is a nice horse :) I would like to have one like him XD
