@daoping I'm in a good mood today, so I'll just tell you. A 12-string guitar has 12 strings (duh) strung in 6 courses. Each of the normal 6 strings has a smaller (or equally-sized, in the case of the B and high E strings) string right next to it tuned either an octave higher, or to the exact same pitch. I just jammed on a 12-string in a shop it was really fun.

well 12 strings sound better for chords because picking on them isn't consistent (Bb and ee strings are tuned the same) so most people just strum them.

I used to play a steel-stringed 12 string Yamaha guitar, so I can vouch for how tough it is to play.

However, before you record another video please practice fully (and please correctly tune your guitar) before you record another video.

Pay as much as you can afford - 12's, especially cheap ones, have a real tendency to develop 'banana necks' and if they have a high action, you can soon shred your fingers. I have a secondhand Fender 12 string which been fine for over 15 years (£100), with an action that is low enough to make it easy to play beyond the 12th fret. Cheap 12's often sound great at first, but can often fail to mellow, so I'd strongly suggest you follow that first bit of advice.

For a year or so recently I did the unforgivable and converted mine into a 6 string, but that was because I seriously damaged my left hand index finger and needed a much wider fingerboard. It's now back to 12 again (although my finger failed to fully repair thanks to a crap NHS hospital) ..... and what fun it is, re-stringing a 12!!! (Mmmm, that reminds me of an early Glen Campbell instrumental LP which contained a track called 'Stringin' a 12')

Sharp blade slashed palm below middle and left index finger - interesting to see your own blood vessels pumping out the red stuff! Nerve severed and despite hospitalisation and being tagged as 'acute' no repair operation until 3 days after. Result is that I have virtually no sense of touch in the index finger. I can't sense pressure when fretting or using barres, and I can't feel if I'm interfering with other strings. So now I've modified my playing style and don't use that finger much.
