If it was just guns, wouldn't be a big deal and they wouldn't throw them over the side if they used it for protection (completely understandable given the area). This is a case of us catching them in the act, stopping it, boarding them, arresting them, then having those in charge of us communicate to other countries that we have a few pirates and they all say they won't put them on trial. So we destroy their weapons (they usually throw them in the water before we board them), reduce their attack capability (leave them with one outboard motor to slow their max speed) leave them with only one boat.

I understand that some are worried about the environment, but destruction of small vessels such as this one are not threatening the environment nearly as much as oil rigs running aground or underwater oil pumps malfunctioning. The risk is quite small, much like driving a car around the city pollutes the air to be honest.

@DAAS312 They throw their weapons over the side of their vessels when we come for them, better to get rid of actual evidence that they are pirates (fisherman don't carry RPGs....). If it was just guns, wouldn't be a big deal and they wouldn't throw them over the side if they used it for protection (completely understandable given the area). There is a clear difference between regular fisherman trying to feed their family and the pirates we've dealt with :)

What i meant was it's not what you would call a pirate mothership. That implies the bigger fishing boat or bigger sized ships where they launch from and return too. Motherships just house, hold supplies, their drugs to keep them occupied and lots of fuel for their outboard motors used on their smaller vessels that they actually use to attack. Skiffs range in size, and you're only seeing it from a distance. Carry on smartly "soldier".
