  • Wore this tape out, because of this song.

  • It just weird to think this came out the year I was born lol

  • I still have that casssette too...

  • I remember this song from my Creep cassette single, which i still have! Good song.

  • genes, jeans, brilliant word play. to all those listening(the aliens monitoring our cultural development) the best part about english is twenty years from now all of a sudden we can go "HOLY CRAP HE COULDA MEANT THIS TOO!" (I purposely ignored the suggestion to capitalize the E in english, because if half the people here won't capitalize the first letter in a sentence why should I grace english with the status of proper noun.(ho the irony)

  • @MrMixdin do you have the CASSETTE? wow...! I'm jelaous!

  • geniallllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Many have commented all kinds of enlightening views of these lyrics as it is a popular/secret favorite. I agree with my friend, that 'Faithless, The Wonder Boy' is about not having a song to express himself: 'needle' refering to record player.

So, here you go...kind of thing. Isn't that radiohead?

  • @ComedownGuardians after 6 months, you have a response that says: ''that makes sense'', my friend

  • amazing

  • Can't put the needle in is a metaphor for can't have a stab at it

  • I own a copy of the lyric sheet, but always took the line to be a double-meaning pun on the jeans/genes homophone.

  • @TheKatthirteen13 it certainly could be, Thom Yorke is/was no dummy;but what most of you don't seem to know is that this song was originally the b-side of the single for Creep&one of Radiohead(in it's famous carnation) first songs, hence it was before talk of genetics was commonplace&around the genesis of genetic evidence being used in criminal trials..................Anyway, I'm just glad to have found this song&upon further thought it probably was meant as genes(it's got disease&..my head

  • Good song.

Whan I hear it I remember ''Crying in the rain'' of A-ha.

  • i want a knife and a gun and things

  • It's jeans.

I've had these 'Jeans' since I was born->Reference to poverty, not being able to afford new clothes.

This ties in with the theme of 'Revenge'-Boy is angry at parents for not buying him all the cool new stuff everyone else has and wants said revenge on them.

  • The best Radiohead song NEVER heard!

  • the best radio head song that nobody has heard

  • there will be blood

  • great song, the verse sounds alot like prove yourself, almost exactly the same.

  • they understand how i feel

the thing that happened to the guy in the song happened to me

did this happen to any body else

  • wow 1993 D=

  • Comment removed

  • cant put the needle in put the needle in put the needle in put the needle in put the needle in!

  • i thought it said "i had these genes since i was born" kinda made sense

  • Its a play on words... you seem to be of few who got that...

  • @pedrowasabi

I really wish I knew which it was. Jeans or genes. Grr. I like both.

  • @pedrowasabi I thought he said dreams, not jeans.
