@ninjafromthesouth My personal experience in bladed weapons has been such that handled properly, even the sharpest of weapons do minimal damage or none at all. This is especially true since machetes are usually not extremely sharp. Considering that such a situation would be do or die, cuts on your limbs would be a cheap price compared to your life. The other point is that executed with speed and surprise necessary for such techniques to work, the blade wielder should'nt have reactive ability.
@bigdaddy843 That's true as long as the wielder of the weapon has not trained properly with it (as is the case most of the time). From my own experience with edged weapons against a real opponent you must be prepared to get cut once or twice and the only thing you can do is avoid dangerous cuts and stabs. It also makes a huge difference what clothing you wear, jeans or leather jackets for example are quite hard to slash through.
those techniques need improvement you could cut your hands your arms and your neck open while executing the moves..... try taking ninjutsu and youll see what i mean
@ninjafromthesouth ...thank you for your comments but sadly you have missed the essence of Systema, its not a long list of techniques (which general dont work) its about using principals with natural movements to get a result... we all believe in our own "Art", thats why I've tried several different disciplines and decided to dedicate 10yrs to this one
when you start to learn it.you learn that you ,your body is already the system and as you learn more you will remember times in your life in which you behaved very systema like.
I think I was about 17, so maybe 6 or 7 years ago - used to come with my girlfriend at the time. Wish I had the time to start again - wasn't fit enough for it back then!
check out the gabriel method.Often you just need to be lighter.
but also remember instructors like to bast newbees in their own sweat to test their spirt and to cull them out if they are bad eggs and young bucks. This syetema stuff could be misused in the wrong hands
but anyway check out the gabreil method..Oh yeah kwon lee has a stretching video at russian martial arts
