Heavy handed at times, to be sure, but a very interesting period piece. Shouldn't be dismissed outright as propaganda, if you want to think deeply about it. Ultimately wanting your children to live in a warless world, after living through the World Wars and in the midst of a Cold War that could go atomic at any minute -- I am sure that was how many people felt.
Interessing that it was written by John Balderston, who wrote the script for the Bel Lugosi Dracula.
This is just too stupid! NOBODY would believe the fantastical claims about Mars, the "Red" Planet (get it??? hahahah) and besides the scientists would figure out the radio signals came from Soviet Union at the beginning. Result? ALL the newspaper headlines would scream, "COMMIES LIE AGAIN!!!!!"
PS ALL the newspaper names are utterly fictitious EXCEPT the los Angeles Herald Examiner, a HEARST paper. Coinkydink?
I suggest to read "Wall Street And The Bolshevik Revolution" by Antony Sutton (economics professor at California State University LA)... reality is worse than science fiction D:
Nauseatingly anti-communist sub(?)plot, left over from the McCarthy "red scare" era. "Those Godless heathen commies" Laughable 60 years on... But decent Sci-Fi for the time.
I see no problem here. Once you believe there's a god, why not believe there are marsians that outsmart us all and still believe in gods? They didn't come to the thought that there may be others playing the same game as the ex-nazi was doing. Perhaps the pope knows more... I have to go on, I see Nude on the Moon in the same channel. I'll hope its just as good.
If it is so blasphemous why did you waste GODS time watching it? You could have been begging for alms @ the nearest airprt. Or trying to convert Krishnas from their truths to your truths.
Lets just enjoy these classic cheezy movies which are meant to entertain but ain't expected to further our knowledge of life, the universe and everything else in between!

How sad; this movie turned into religious propaganda.
But they did do one thing right; they put religion where it belongs, in a science fiction movie.
Back in the day; people thought this was right; I’m glad the delusion is wearing off.
Theists are telling us that people on Mars want us to worship Jesus;
Yeah Right.
That’s as stupid as the church telling me that dinosaur fossils were put here by Satan to take my eyes off the Lord.
Not all theists are dummies; but most dummies are theists.
