I've got a Mockingbird singing up a storm and showing off right outside my front window every day and a male Cardinal calling for a girlfriend every morning outside my rear window.
i love wakeing up to the songs of birds there is a mocking bird that sings almost every morning close to my bedroom window. i also hear a lot of american tree sparrows every moring in sping in a big tree near my house. i love birds!
This is a pretty neat video. It even shows what biologists believe is a courtship display, where the mockingbird does a little flip in the air while singing and showing the white patches on his wings. Looks like its a bachelor male.
I used to have a mocking bird in my front yard that would mimic my cats meows. used to drive the cat nuts because if the window was closed the bird would sit in the window making that noise almost like it was taunting the cat XD
I love Mockingbirds! The one by my house can imitate car alarms, horror movies, cackles...you name it. I guess living in the city he's picked up a unique combination of sounds.
I've been following mockingbirds for years (all city birds) and they all seem to have common tones. No machinery or sirens or any other non-bird sound!
ACTUALLY, they will "mimic" ANYTHING. They are in a family of birds called Mimids, so it sort of makes sense. Don't swear, or act like a jerk on my wall.
lol actually in this one it was mimicked 2 types of car alarms. dunno about a toilet flush but they will mimic anything from human speech, other birds even a ringing phone.

The dogs and cats aren't natural. This guy belongs here. Please give him sanctuary!

Yes, really neat! It's crazy when they do this type of singing late at night!

No, actually they can replicate up to 175 different calls, including machinery. They're a feathered random tape recorder!
I just pity the poor bugger that lives next to a fire station, or a railroad crossing that has one of these in the neighborhood!
