As for the rest of you not understanding the reason for Liara's change... you must have missed the extra dialogue when you finish doing quests for her on Ilium and the comic that chronicles her search for Shepard's body. She "couldn't let [Shepard] go". When she tells you this, she slips back into her old demeanour. She's still the same character, she's just added a few extra layers of defence to deal with everything. LotSB also explains.
Read Mass Effect - Redemption #1-4 if you want the backstory to this. It makes a lot of sense now and ties the plot together. It explains why Liara hates the Shadow Broker so much and what they did to her friend. Mass Effect is amazingly well-written.
@Cap285 They are comic books, published by Dark Horse. I believe your local comic book store should carry them (or maybe Borders or B&N?). Otherwise you can order them online on Amazon and of course, you can always torrent them if you don't mind reading it on the computer. The only gripe I have about this series is its rather short but a great read nonetheless.

@Lorhechapol No but in ME1 there are a lot of side quests you go on to stop Cerberus because they were doing bad experiments that harmed people. So Shepard used to be a spectre, but is now working for people he/she tried to take down when he/she was a spectre.

I've finished Shadow Broker DLC, I've romanced Liara in ME1, romanced Tali in 2 and it doesn't ask me if I want a home for her... furthermore after it ends, I'm banging both Tali and Liara... I guess the game really is different for everyone :D

It would make more sense if this was a loyalty mission, or even a chain of side quests in the main game, while having her as crew member.

Horrible character "development". More like derailment, if you ask me. In her otherwise uneventful life, Liara goes from bubbly girl to cold-hearted bitch because some dude she knew for a couple of months supposedly got cacked trying to save her, and now she campaigns to kill one of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy like she even stands a chance (which she doesn't; at least not without Shepard).

The arguments on this video, and similar to it, are so silly. It's an RPG, who cares if you're playing someone you're not in real life? You don't go insulting people for playing renegade, because logically if they play as such they're clearly a mass murderer in real life. And I find it rather annoying that it's assumed only male players play female characters, especially those who romance Liara. Get your heads out of the 1920s and into the future, where the game is set!

As for the rest of you not understanding the reason for Liara's change... you must have missed the extra dialogue when you finish doing quests for her on Ilium and the comic that chronicles her search for Shepard's body. She "couldn't let [Shepard] go". When she tells you this, she slips back into her old demeanour. She's still the same character, she's just added a few extra layers of defence to deal with everything. LotSB also explains.

Read Mass Effect - Redemption #1-4 if you want the backstory to this. It makes a lot of sense now and ties the plot together. It explains why Liara hates the Shadow Broker so much and what they did to her friend. Mass Effect is amazingly well-written.

@Cap285 They are comic books, published by Dark Horse. I believe your local comic book store should carry them (or maybe Borders or B&N?). Otherwise you can order them online on Amazon and of course, you can always torrent them if you don't mind reading it on the computer. The only gripe I have about this series is its rather short but a great read nonetheless.

I still think this is relevant even with the release of the DLC. I don't think you find out what she did during the DLC. It's important to find this dialogue for the full story.

BUT She chose not to. She didn't have to worry about Kaidan/Ashley yelling at her because Shepard was going to get it.
It's like all she cares about is Shepard. What about her other friends Garrus, Tali, etc. didn't care about them. Didn't bother filling in with Shepard's other friends. you knw?

1. She didn't know if it was going to work until it did, so she couldn't have told them in advance to only get there hopes up.
2. Garrus disappeared off everyone's radar.
3. Ashley and Kaidan hated Liara, especially Ashley who was always a bitch to her.
4. Like Joker said, without Shepard the team fell apart, because no one really liked anyone else on the team.

@Lorhechapol No but in ME1 there are a lot of side quests you go on to stop Cerberus because they were doing bad experiments that harmed people. So Shepard used to be a spectre, but is now working for people he/she tried to take down when he/she was a spectre.

@ThunderSoul if you had a relationship with Liara in ME1 then someone else in ME2 she asks what you want for your new romance (ex: help build a home on the quarian homeworld for Tali or something) but if you dont romance anyone in ME2 you can go back to Liara.
