A great Filipino--- Rizal or Aquino-- can die for his/her country.. If given a chance today to standby your countrymen knowing that he/she is worth it, one will not put his/her country. in a back seat . Its one of a billion chance and eureka tt was there. Leah Salonga thought otherwise. But I am only expressing my opinion. I would have voted for Shamcey hands down because there was THAT chance and the lady was worth the wait! @anelecool IF an interpreter is available to translate; that's what the interpreter is for (writen or spoken). Why do you think the interpreters are there? Why would you want to answer in your second language anyway? A language you openly call a mix of two languages (Tagalog and English). Why would you risk the misunderestanding in the Miss Universe? Speaking good English do not qualify nor guarantee a win, but speaking poor broken English will definitely sink you....thus that is why Miss Ukraine and the others spoke in their native language. Just watch their web interviews and you will see that the other 4 came off stiff and awkward. Bravo to them that they answer in their native language.

I think there’s no right or wrong answer here. She said exactly what she would do when faced with that situation and it's what she believed is right. She said the first thing which came to mind. It was honest and sincere. She didn’t waste any time buttering up her answer to charm the judges or the audience. Her answer probably didn't impress a lot of non-believers/ atheists out there & I knew from the moment I heard her answer that there’s going to be another fucking religion debate somewhere.

Commentators were racist. Shandi Finnessey and Jeannie Mai were really impartial. They were both lauding and cheering for their home country and favorites. Philippines was an exception because they kept on commenting with the wardrobe not about the candidate. One weird comment to Philippines was " i bet her country is dying right now.". I don't think it is figurative but I'm sure they really imply that Filipino fans were really happy because unexpectedly Philippines got place.
