  • 2 TB HDD = 100-150 EURO

    2 TB SSD = 8000 EURO

    Congratufuckinglation

  • Your video went viral on Helsinki

  • 1. I can't feel a difference about few gram

    2. I can wait just few seconds

    3. I usually don't throw my laps or shakes it to the death

    4. Only few minutes? Sorry when I need more portability I can always buy more portable laptop that can live up to 9 hours.

    5. WTH your price is like 10 times than regular HDD? And your space is joke? Sorry SSD you just lost war for me.

  • why did they miss out capacitie and price???????????

  • Only men are watching this...

  • FAKE

  • Those people have jobs, like the ones in the flight demonstration, they don't need to know the price

  • This vid is a favorite on Jamaica

  • they forgot to tell you about the maximum capacitie and the price, which both are won by the hdd

  • @rubikfan1 the solid states aren't meant to be storage. they are meant to be boot drives

  • y u no wear normal cloths? U NO REAL DOCTOR

  • where's the chart for pricing?

  • Funny how they never mention write cycles. HDD - 100,000+ rewrite cycles, SSD - 1000+ rewrite cycles before the memory dies..

  • hybrid drives are better

  • Risk takers, coffee drinkers, and traditionalists will love to have the hard disk drives rather than solid state drives! lol

  • I thought I had a message on Steam at 0:46

  • why cant you just wait 30 more seconds

  • Comment removed

  • @KylesAnimationsTV SSD for gaming is worth it !! Waiting with a HDD will cause poor performance while gaming

  • 60 SECONDS WHAT A SHAME SO MUCH DISAPOINTED XD

  • my laptop takes around 20 seconds to boot up with an SSD ~

  • Comment removed

  • Those PC's must be shithouse for an SSD to boot up in 36 seconds...

  • What are the downsides? :)

  • @jusje13 none its better in every way except it{s way more expensive than hdd.. for now

  • @jusje13 SSDs are basically better than hard drives in all ways the only problem is they are much more expensive

  • @monkey6573 oh nice, so i have an Sata HDD now in my laptop, i want an SSD cuss ye i hea they better etc. Can i just go but one (also Sata conection) and just plug it in? (or wont that work cuss of the drivers etc... im not mutch of a pro in this things)

  • ONLY 36 seconds, ARE YOU SHITTING ME??!

  • @wrathallll windows 8 boots up in 20 seconds from no power with my crucial ssd. about 10-12 seconds from POST

  • @NoMotif 36 seconds is poo. my first pc booted up faster than that

  • 0:43 LOL is that a whiteboard marker?

  • On this test, were going be testing newegg tests (pretend its 6 months in the future)

This hdd, with half of the peformance, comes around 5-10 cents a gig

The SDD however, takes about 1 dollar per a gig

    what a loss.

  • @rerundadog the ssd will extend the life of your machine by atleast 3 years.

  • ssd is too expensive

  • at 2:37 who the hell shakes his pc?? (like that?)

  • @melkevegen anyone that lets it drop

  • I'm not an english speaker and I don't understand what he means at 4:42 to 4:47.

I can tell what he says, but not what he means. Could anyone explain it to me? Please. I need this for a work at the university.

  • @edykrueger It's about MTBF. "And an astounding meantime between failures (MTBF) of more than two million hours, Samsung SSD looks to be the true solid choice."

You can get a decent explanation from Wikipedia: en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org(forward slash)wiki(forward slash)mtbf

  • @Tomazelio Thank you very much!

  • @edykrueger You're welcome! ;-)

  • sonic srew driver ftw

  • what about price?who will win?samsung?

  • lol just because they hold less and cost more, people give them a bad rap. just use one small SSD for your OS and some big, slow programs and chuck the rest on a HDD. some laptops have 2 storage bays...winning.

  • Now lets compare price! :L

  • SSD WIN's

  • There should be just 1ssd for your main os drive and the rest can be hdds... Dat solves the problem..

  • @namankamran Building a computer now with a 120gb ssd and a 2tb hdd :P

  • respect for video its funny but right

  • Why didn't you mention size and price? I think you were hired by Samsung and tell only the positives about their SSD's.

  • Eles deveriam ter comparado o preço tmb

  • I hate it when my desk shakes at 350Hz...

  • wow 2008 never looked so ancient.

  • HDD é o gargalo da atualidade...

    vida longa ao SSD ;DD

  • Don't you just hate it when you are sitting there and your computers hard drive starts convulsing @350 hertz? Its the speed I'm after and the SSD is AWESOME it makes everything so snappy.

  • My phone has an,SSD

  • ssd é bom, mas seu preço é um absurdo.

    hdd 2TB=R$200

    ssd 128GB=R$800

sou mais em investir em memoria ram

  • SSD will replace the HDD in the future, about 4 or 5 years but I'll wait.

    Moore's Law

  • And... where's the price comparison?

  • This testing left out the one area where there is not a big advantage to the SSD over the HDD: Write speed. Funny that Samsung would leave that test out. So much for unbiased, fair testing.

  • 3:43...and our Mac user has just landed another 5 hours later, and still has battery.

  • FAKE. Tom's Hardware did the power consumption test comparing HDD and SSDs and SSD's DECREASE battery time. DENY THAT, SAMSUNG!

  • my laptop w/ hdd lasts 6+ hrs with heavy use.

  • Who else kept checking their steam whenever the video beeped?

  • but nothing will replace the beautiful sound of hard drive,i just adore listening to HDD spnining and grindin....

  • Why did I watch this whole thing?

  • When you can not wait 8 seconds to open a file.

  • @EmmaLovelace

Waiting 8 seconds sucks. And that's just for a small 25mb.

  • Now they just need to do a price test, and get that better than old hd costs and everyone will have one. I had to almost sell a kidney to get my first SSD.

  • Now. I think it's funny you don't mention the reads / writes durability.

That's because with an average user, you'd be lucky to have 15 months of operation with an SSD. =)

  • Is he using a Sonic Screwdriver?

  • the price of a 40GB SSD is 90€

for comparison to a HDD, it is very expensive

    but its worth

sorry for my bad english :)

  • @AirMaxBlack dont know where you live but in slovakia you can get ssd 60 gb for 74 Euro , and for 100 pretty fast 64 gb

  • @starscream2092

    nice :D

    i live in Austria :)

  • YAhhh now i can see mah my porn in a level 7 earthquake!!!

  • Will it blend???

  • I think I would rather have it tested for storage density. I feel as though that's a little more valuable than vibration capacity, as I rarely vibrate my computer at >350Hz

  • Okay this is the shittiest test I've ever seen, the SSD is complete bullshit, yes they may be faster but I use regular HDD and it does NOT take that long to open a 25MB file -.- mine open up instantly I open up bigger ones Instantly... HHD's are still better and cheaper, I wont be buying any SDD's any time soon...

  • @whitemanwii Lol, like HDD's are better.

  • @Brandon6969100 They might not be better but their not as bad as these videos say they are... if you want to be a dumbass and buy one... go for it.

  • @whitemanwii Dumbass? SSD's are absolutely massive improvements over HDD's.

  • @Brandon6969100 I never said they weren't... their over priced and not worth it....

  • @whitemanwii They are expensive, but that's because they're new technology.

  • @whitemanwii another thing that influences these speeds is the cpu.

  • HDD wins:

    - Boot time isn't critical. 30 Seconds of difference won't make me lose my patience.

    - Opening files is faster on SSD, but the difference is no more than 15 seconds (large files).

    - Vibrating Table... lol. As long as a super earthquake isn't going on, my table won't vibrate in 350MHz..

    - Battery finishes faster? That's a difference of only 30 minutes, approximately.

    - Smaller? Who cares.

    - Less Noisy? Modern HDDs aren't noisy.

SSD just isn't worth its price for its so little capacity.

  • @Marterist +1

  • Meh it's just xp :)

I got a HDD and my boot time is 32 secs :P

  • @TheAngelF0x My boot time is around 10~13 seconds with SSD, running Windows 7 64 Bits, 6gb RAM, Intel i7 EXTREME 3.2 GHZ, OC @ 4.4 GHZ...

  • actually the price is high but in lets see in 6 month, maybe a bit more and the price will greatly lower... i hope because i want to buy one!

  • to all the people saying why dont you compare the prices, well put it this way if you want performance and speed what would you rather have a cheap fiat 500 or an expensive ferrari 458, you would go for the ferrari wouldn't you? besides anyone who can afford an SSD can afford to buy both SSD for speed and HDD for capacity.

  • I think they forgot the price comparison.

  • they must have paused the video, if the hdd failed, then the os should shut down since the hdd fails

  • Honestly, I am surprised the power saving is so little. Only 20%?

  • The nutcracker music is killing me.

  • why don't say about price comparation?

  • Boot de 23s com SSD 60gb da Corsair...nem se compara!

  • 2005

    80 GB HDD : 100+ euro

    30 GB 10.000 RPM HDD: 300+ euro

    2011

    2 TB HDD (Western Digital:Green): 40 euro

30gb SSD (OCZ VERTEX): 70 euro

    2015

    4 TB SSD: 100 euro

30 gb SSSD (super solid state drive) : 400 euro

  • i got 40s bootup with a simple HDD :O

  • SSD is really better, but don't worth the money =/

  • i'll buy the ssd in 2012 when the earthquakes come

  • @mastrpiecenotorious HAHAHAHA, great, great!

  • @mastrpiecenotorious Or in 2011 when traditional drives get expensive as hell and it's almost as cheap to get an SSD over a notebook HDD.

  • @DarkStar851 HDDs will drop back down in Q1 2012, supply and demand has driven the cost up temporarilty because of the floodings in HDD-land...

I'd love to get a SSD, but atm the 120GB ones are still a little too pricey for me...

  • OMG! I waste some seconds of my life for each boot up of my computer!

I'm gonna mend my table before it begins to shake at 350hz.

  • You guys can bitch about the price all day. Im still getting ssd over hdd.

  • remain one test: PRICE

  • wow just admit ssd is a fucking waste of money...

  • ONLY SHIT.

  • 0:45 Steam message!

  • My macbook pro with ssd does it at 14 sec blank lol

  • where is price/gb comparison? lmao

  • Nice try samsung. I'm sticking with my HDD.

My computer boots in like 25 secs. You just need the right amount of ram. 4 gb minimum. Don't waste your money on this crap.

  • @bluest0rm97 That's like saying a 2TB hard disk is faster than a 1TB hard drive. It just doesn't make a difference. The amount of ram is just that, an amount of ram. Anything higher than 1GB won't give you any difference in Windows, because Windows boot-up doesn't take more than that. Computer boot-up times are based upon Hard disk speed, processor model & clockspeed, and ram SPEED. The fact that your PC boots up in 25 seconds means you are running practically no open-on-logon applications.

  • @bluest0rm97 And to call an SSD 'crap' is nonsense. Solid State Disks are more stable, can take a much bigger hit than normale hard drives (6G minimum) and have incredible read and write speeds if you buy smart. The way I see it, Solid States are the future. Sure, 25 seconds to boot is very nice now. But when there are multiple applications to load, that's where the SSD and RAM-amount come to justice. Check out this video. watch?v=S5ZrBM_EPC8. Now how do you feel about them?

  • both were pathetic, even back than you could get windows to boot off a hdd in 20 or so seconds if you set it up right.

and that ssd... wow was it pathetic... get 1000+ pictures on the drive from digital cameras, in a single folder, and than show is the comparison, the ssds main strength is no seek time, but sadly, they didnt have one test that showed it well.

  • SSD, SERÁ O SUCESSOR DO HD! NO SSD O WINDOWS NÃO TRAVA, NO SSD NÃO OCORREM BAD BLOCKS E PODE DESLIGAR O PC COMO SE DESLIGA UMA TV, SEM TER QUE ESPERAR.

  • estan bien pinches caros!!!

  • i wasn't big on samsung as a brand. i was about to buy an iphone, but ended up buying samsung galaxy phone. and it is just the best phone ever! suddenly i have so much respect for samsung as brand. and it's SSDs are the fastest too, according to several reviews even faster in comparison to other ssds. marketing alone cannot make a great brand, the product has be truly impressive. hope ssds become affordable soon.

  • If you're going to buy an SSD, at least go for 64GB and up. Wasting money of a 32GB one just for bootup is a waste of money. Save just a bit more and you can see the difference when you're actually USING the computer...

  • The price comparison for ssd vs hdd isn't worth it a 1tb ssd costs around 3000 dollars vs 60 dollars for a hdd one. I only use a 32 gb one for boot up on my pc.

  • Wait.. did they just make a sata 6 for ssd's? or is it just the sata III 6gbit/s?! plz answer

  • @Phenom69ll Its SATA3 which is 6Gb per second.

  • 1) Big price difference!

    2) Big capacity difference!

    3) Whenever is your computer going to shake that much!

  • @Watkoabc123 Let's say you drop your laptop for whatever reason, the HDD would be more likely to be damaged than the SSD.

  • @Watkoabc123 if you drop it for example.

  • Dude that Hard drive computer most have NO RAM! they think were stupid. SSD Is fast, but RAM on a computer is also Considerable. I have normal HDDs with 4 GB of ram and My shit does not open as slow as they showed in this video. Another company trying to play us into buying their crap.

  • @Noel127

This video was posted in 2008, I have a solid state drive in my HP Envy 14 and it boots in like 10 - 15 seconds. The big benefit is boot times and program launch times. They mention thinks like shaking to promote the fact that these drives are durable. I personally wouldn't go back to using HDDs as boot drives, theyre fine for storage but having an SSD as a boot drive is the way to go.

  • I think there's a subliminal message of red-republicans blue-democrats

  • Regular hdds cost 20-30 center per gb and ssds are 3$ per gb so it's 10x the cost for 2x the speed

  • @1zacster

I've commented on this video like three times now but everyone here needs to read up on these drives. I purchased a 64 gb SSD for 100$ so thats roughtly $1.5 per GB not $3 and kingston advertises there SSDs at 5x the speed of a base line HDD, a lot more then the 2x that you mentioned.

  • @CoryDemone yes but what if i raid 0 4 1.8" hdds O SNAP SON you got served

  • BUT IT LOSE IN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART... IT´S MORE EXPENSIVE :(...

  • lol 25 mb.... 25gb would o been inpressive :P

  • Now...I wanna see how fast it can write....and how long it will last compared to HDDs

Or is this just to market only the good sides of SSD?

  • @psplovr Lets say the SSD writes at 200MB/s and has a capacity of 64GB and 5 million write cycles.

well then it would take you 5E6*64E9 / 200E6 = about 50 years of continuous writing to the SSD before it fails

  • this is funny but also educational...

  • There are many bad things about an SSD that has not been talked about

A SSD has 3 big problems; the cost is high, the storage is low, and its write speeds are really bad

A HDD takes only 2-3 seconds more for a program to run, they are very cheap and there storage is really big, but the best thing is that the read and write speeds are basically the same

in gaming, the new games that are out, require good read AND write speeds which an SSD obviously does not have so SSD is not for gaming

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX

What the fuck are you talking about?

Write speed on a ssd is about 600 to 650 MB/s, which is pretty darn fast and almost as fast as the reading-speed.

And why should "new" games do more writing stuff?

  • @Ursenfuns wrong, write speeds are not fast, if you are smart you would know that only high quality SSD's have good write speeds

games these days require fast write speeds because there always ether saving games or writing data to temporary folders on the drive

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX

Smart? I just looked up the description of my ssd. How smart is this, dude.

I think you wanna pull someone's leg for some reason.

Yeah, tempfolders and savegames are quite some new shit, I agree.

  • @Ursenfuns i wanna let you know :)

to get your facts strait, SSD's will not have write speeds at 650MB/s and there may be a few but for quite a price

not even high quality SSD's are that fast, a good SSD can run around 200MB/s - 350MB/s for write speeds

im not pulling your leg, im just telling you the truth

and newer games have a lot of data writing, far more than older games

  • Nossa muito maneiro,isso promete revolucionar o mercado/!!

  • yeah i watch youtube videos all the time while there's a level 10 earthquake right under me...

  • @KidBizzo Watching YouTube videos doesn't require any access to or from your main storage device, thus your statement doesn't make any sense.

Also, it doesn't have to be an earthquake, it could be a "trainquake" or a "carquake" or even a "planequake" which are substantially more common, especially for people who have to travel frequently.

  • @KidBizzo a ratio of 10 is far serious, there has only been very few earthquakes at 10

youtube videos wtf, nothing to do with your hard drive,

  • But will it blend?

  • Why didn't anyone think of this before!!

  • Comment removed

  • those arent seconds those like like 1/4 of a second...

  • @HomiesofMars yes, for example the new iMac

  • But will it blend? That is the question.

  • @keksinnot Awsome , i want to see bleanding 400 us LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Unless I wanna use my laptop as a vibrator, why the fuck would I care if my HDD fails if I shake it too much???

  • can a SSD go in a desktop?

  • @HomiesOfMars ofcourse !!! but is 4 times expensive

  • @HomiesOfMars of course :)

  • my macbook air takes just 10 sec :)

  • Both are still slow LMFAO

  • SSD: Susie in the Sky with Diamond

  • just bought an OCZ SSD 60GB just for running windows and some major software.

All the other apps goes to my 2, 1.5tb hard drive :)

  • SSD has the 100'000 limit write cycle, while HDD doesn't.

+ 1GB of SSD costs nearly 3.25$, so HDD win.

  • @relanonimous not DRAM ssds, also, there is no compare not idiot uses an ssd for their main drives, usually ull have you most used programs and your OS and use it as a boot drive. Also you make 100k sound like nothing. Almost anyone who works with computers would say SSDs are the future and like i said DRAM isnt limited at all and its a developing tecnology and will get cheaper overtime just like LED and 3D TVs. aND 3.25 are you crazy most SSD cost 1.20 - 2.00 USD per gig. learn your facts

  • @digislayer139 you even write with mistakes, stupid, go fuck yourself and learn true FACTS.

  • @relanonimous um im sorry that i don't spell check every word, and i apologize for my grammar, but where is your point. I made semantic errors and you want me to learn the 'true facts". Ok ill hit up a grammar text book, how does this relate to my actual argument. so give me an example of true facts, because i have no idea where you are coming from

  • The test at 2:16 is for people with parkinsons :P

  • i know how to shut down my laptop faster than an SSD.... with a hammer....

  • jaja ese se la come

  • why does a doctor showing us the difference shouldnt he be at the hospital ?

  • I just bought my wife a Macbook Air and it has a SSD. It turns on and is on the internet in 15 seconds from when you push the power button.

  • Traditional 2.5" Hard Drive £35-70 (160-750gb)

    Traditional 2.5" Solid State Drive £100-800 (60-512gb)

    Hard Drive wins...

Meh i'll just get both, to be on the safe side

  • double boot up time, double open pdf, double vibration support, double battery life, double prices, even triple prices than an hdd

    for anything else exist mastercard
