Does it really matter how someone discovers music, either through moves or television. What it matters that good music lives on and people can still enjoy it. So, shut up!
i hate how beatles fans have to attack people over the internet just cause they discoverd the wonders of the beatles through a movie. its turning people on to goo dmusic an away from shit. stop bringing them back to shit music. -from true beatles fans
Whenever I'm sad or stressed, I like to listen to this song. It always sends me somewhere else. A place with green fields and blue skies that is totally silent except for the sound of the gentle breeze.
Im 15 and smarter than pretty much everyone my age in my life and I often feel alone as people my age like to talk and do stuff pretty non constructive -_- I feel like im wasting life playing xbox and watching stupid tv shows rather than making the most out of life....

i remember seeing Paul McCartney during his Back in the US Tour when i was in the fifth grade. he performed this song and it was just amazing :3 the whole concert was fantastic but this song especially.
This song is Damn good! The Beatles sure has alot to offer since this is my absolute favourite band and I've been listening to them for a very long time and Although this is the first time I heard this masterpiece! May the Beatles stay heard forever!
@vinnieosu Thumbs up if you heard this because you listen to good music!!!.. if the first time you heard this was on dinner for shmucks then i am a bit embarassed for you
I can remember when I was just a little kid, listening to my jackson 5 and Osmond brother's record's and my Aunt Karen came over to babysit me. One day she brought over some of her own record's to play. I remember looking at this album cover as she put this on and wondering Who the hell is this? I remember this song just hitting me like a ton of brick's......then it was like a drug..couldnt get enough, thank's Aunt Karen....I wonder what my mom did with those Osmond bro's album's?.......
I never understood the insane necessity people feel to have to "explain" a song. Does it move you? THAT is all that really matter. Songs mean different things to different people. There never is ONE true answer. Even most songwriters will tell you that. Relax - enjoy the music - and for God's sake - stop trying to put it into a box...
omg.. amazing song.. didnt even know about this song even though i am a somewhat fairly new beatles fan.. and wow 2:41 goes right through you.. little Beatles influence to Pink Floyd(fav band)?? i think so.. GREAT SONG!!/UNDERRATED
Further one mite note: 'minor keys' lift you up...like the flute itself rises your emotional level...as the spinning round round round lifts one up...it's a balance between. Everyone is a 'fool' from the others view...and the funny thing about a fool is he/they don't know their fools. On the hill:'always looking forward never in the moment' passerby: 'always in the moment never looking forward'. It's balance;)
It's not supposed to be a sad song. " if you actual listen to the lyrics"...it's an observation...it's a conversation of the passer by and the fool himself...
They: 'know what he wants to do..."
Fool: "sits perfectly still..." ( unmoved just as the passer by is unmoved)...
They are signs for one another, they each know what's coming by the action and interaction of one another. It's understanding . ;)
@Artorioux Who is the more foolish? All the Fool in the song does is sit there, he watches the damage the rest of us do to the world. And the passer-by? He's even foolish because he doesn't even notice. As you say, a fool doesn't know they ARE a fool but the song is even sadder for that very reason.
Funny, we learnt to play recorders at school and we thougt it was so uncool. But the Beatles made these instruments fashionable ~ they sound great in this song ~ The Beatles probably had to learn recorders at school like we did!
@SuperNevile wowww.. i had to play recorders in school as a kid too.. it was the main instrument.. haha.. it was so annoyingg.. but thats so sickk.. im bouta go upstairs and recover that 11 yr old recorder noww and try to play this song.. lol.. beatles just make it sound magical..
@mTallen9754 Yes, Paul plays the recorder on this song (there are photos of him playing the recorder on this session ~ like the ones at school!), and there are also three flutes played by session musicians. I think the recorder maybe overdubbed but am not sure. Most people think there are just flutes being played, cheers.
I´m sorry petshopgirl72, but you must be either insane or deaf if you think that Petula Clark does this better. She obviously never even managed to learn the words for this amazing work (she looks up at the textmachine during the whole performance). What you take as her giving the song feeling is only her studdering at the text because she cant make out the words at the machine at times. Sorry but Petula Clark really sucks.....
@ petshopgirl172 NOBODY IS BETTER THAN THE BEATLES...i hate how SOME artists try to do covers of there songs, such as coldplay the fray and petula clark...im sorry to say but you are not a smart person.

Possibly, but at least they went out on a high. Better that than to keep trundling on and on like some of their peers, eh?a
