  • that's j.k. simmons, he plays j jonah jameson in spider-man and white knight in generator rex

  • I really, really, REALLY Love General Eiling

  • What makes everyone think that Batman would last long against Eiling? Since the so-called "good general" is known for pulling out all the stops to achieve victory, he would probably bring up the death of Batman's parents to distract him

  • Did they ever stop Eiling...?

  • @UltimateLemons No, they didn't stop him. He refused to kill the civilians in order to kill the knight-guy, so he decided to just walk away, and that was the end of it.

  • i like it when those monsters jump high like hulk, general eiling or grundy thats so cool!

  • man if they had batman with them, it would've been over in ten seconds and eiling would be crying for mercy.

  • Lol Iron Man Vs. Hulk.

  • Rosa Parks does it again!

  • i really, really, REALLY hate that guy

  • @MrMisterman1 If you mean Eiling; then yes, I hate him too. It's people like him that are polluting the world with their selfish ways.

Whenever people (politicians soldiers and some teachers and parents) think that the world is going slowly downhill, I suggest they take a good look at themselves. Because they themselves may either be apart of or the soul cause of it happening

  • 3:00 All right, let's call it a draw.

  • I remembered when I first saw this episode on toonami one saturday when I was still a kid. I had no idea who these characters were at the time but after this episode I had real respect for them, especially shining night.

  • The General has a good point, but went about it in a really bad way.

Like an elephant loose, the JLU posed too much of a threat to the USA. The General was just increasing our self defensive capabilities. That is a good thing. But picking a fight with superman is just silly.

  • @TheGoalSetter That may be so but when you deliberately put innocent people in danger just to rid yourself of any enemy forces, you're still nowhere near to being considered a hero to others

  • @sadlobster1 True-that.

  • My favorite scene in this entire episode is Shining Knight's speech. :)

  • Ok ,Green and Speedy got hit with a sonic burst, got their chests crushed, thrown against a car and they have no powers but the guy in magic armer that got punched a few times went to the hospital and GA and Speedy are just fine. I find that a bit funny but then again he did get punched by a doomsday rip-off.

  • Looks like someone is upset he didn't get photos of Spider-Man.

  • @HappyAppleCider You get 100 cool points for that statement, dude...

  • 0:42 Who is guy that with white armor ?

  • @xsf908 That's Pat Dugan AKA S.T.R.I.P.E (Special Tactics Robotic Integrated Power Enhancer) Back in the day he didn't wear a mech suit, he was just a big, tough dude who fought alongside the original Star-Spangled Kid, as Stripe, in the super-hero group The Seven Soldiers of Victory. Long story short, eventually, he retired and re-married. His step daughter, Courtney found the S.S Kid's gear and decided to take up the mantle. Pat built the mech suit to keep watch over her. Also, he's a genius.

  • 4:35 i saw toonami's logo :') i soo happy it brought a tear to my eye. i miss toonami

  • I preferred the general when he was a shaved version of Shaggy Man

  • @MJBDC7

If you think someone should die for writing a shitty episode you must be a very disturbed person.

  • I know alot of people called the end this episode anticlimatic but I always liked it for avoiding the cliche.

Wenether a villain like Eiling is called out on there hypocracy they useually refuse to acept it and turn on the people who called them out it was a nice twist to actualy have him relise and acept how much of a hypocrit he was.

  • One other thing I wanted to comment about this episode. General Eliling is an example of one of the things I hate about the modern world. He claims that the U.S. is "halfway down the toilet" because of superheroes but I say it's halfway down because of him.

We used to be a world of virtue and beauty but now some people in the world have become power hungry, greedy punks who throw a fit whenever someones become better than them.

Personally, I prefer people like Sir Justin over today's soldiers

  • @MJBDC7 I kind of see what you're talking about. The plot may seem predictable but it's a sort of scenario I kind of enjoy.

To me; the people standing up to the general after he nearly pummeled Sir Justin into the pavement, is what makes him a great hero. I mean, how many heroes do we have today (real of fictional) can continuously take a serious beating and still stand tall in the face of adversity?

I think some of us today (no offense meant) have forgotten what it means to truly be a hero

  • @MJBDC7 Just what is it about this episode you hate so much. I love this one, mostly because of Shining Knight

  • Shining Knight is the kind of guy you can't help but look up to.

Hell, Shining Knight is probably Superman's hero.

  • he sounds like batman

  • Shining knight is 1 of 3 very old characters who appeared in comics together. Shining knight, golden gladitor, and the viking prince. It doesn't take the ability to benchpress a tank to make you a hero, it only takes the ability to stand up when everyone else lays down in defeat.

  • This is my least favrite episode...

  • Why do people like Vigilante so much? The first one's a lame cowboy. The second one's a guy with a gun. the new one's a douchebag with a gun. Also, why does Shining Knight even exist?

  • @VsxFedora

for the record, I like the last Vigilante (Dorian Chase, Punisher-like). In Deathtrap crossover he promised Ravager not to kill Jericho and kept his promise. But instead he gouged Jericho's eyes out to stop him from using his powers.

  • @KyodaiKen1979 meh, he's a douche who accomplished more than what he should be capable of (ei, beating up Nightwing) and seeing Batman give him a flawless beat-down satisfied me beyond words.

I don't know much about the other Vigilantes, but the cowboy one seems... out of place, consdiering he's a COWBOY and all! The second one looks interesting, however.

  • @VsxFedora He's a sharpshooting hero dedicated to helping people, what's not to like?

  • what kind of ranged class hero runs into battle with bows?

  • @Reknafist The kind that have run out of arrows.

  • So, let me see if I understand this: If you have superpowers, you're evil; if you don't, you're worthless....

That leaves a whole lot of options--he must have tons of friends. Eiling should just be honest, he loves the power--that's why kept beating on Shining Knight even after he was down.

  • Eiling in this is a reference to "the General" from the comics who later inhabits the body of the Shaggy Man, after shaving off most of his hair of course. There are of course several references to the Hulk as well; such as the sonic clap and the gaint leaps. All in all one of my fav eps. The dialouge between Eiling & Shining Knight is perfect, it says a lot about the fine line between protecting freedom and smothering it.

  • Kinda like a color-swapped Hulk.

  • I thought the General's Alter Ego was a Hulk,,type Notice he had purple skin and green shorts.... I like the message that's being told her though verra cool

  • This single quote etched the show's awesomeness in my mind.

"I'll die as befits a knight: defending the weak!"

Shining Knight is a badass beyond belief, heroism in its most condensed, purest form.

  • As a side note, amusingly enough one fo the most influential heroes is Batman, a hero without any superpowers. So Eiling is wrong there, too.

  • Is it a just me or did the general seem to loose a digit when he fully transformed?

  • fucking fail the kids right hes the only 1 with superpowers every1 else has an equitment or suit but hes all natural

  • doomsday could kick his ass

  • The Shining Knight and The Vigilante seem to be great here.

  • Sir Justin choosing to spare an entire village rather than destroying it is a true example of being a hero. The general calling him a "lousy soldier" for making the decision was the dumbest thing I ever heard.

The general is one of the reasons why I dislike some of today's world military

  • I LOVE JUSTICE LEAGUE I LOVE DC man, i use to love marvel but damn DC PUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE how could people love anime over this?

  • General Eiling is a coward just like General Shepard of Modern warfare 2 who believes sacrificing a few of their men makes up for peace and harmony. So much for the Patriotic act.

  • When Sir Justin said that the general was showing off "the creeping moral decay of the last thosand years," I have to agree. People in the middle ages, rennaissance era and the years of WW2 had much better moral values than some people have today.

You can't even behave like a chivalrous gentleman without being openly mocked by the people. I would rather live under a knight's code of honor than whatever sort of code people have today (if we even have one)

  • @sadlobster1 I agree implicitly. I wish there were still men like that around today.

  • @sadlobster1 The knight's code of chivalry wasn't as cut-and-dry as movies and TV shows like this make it out to be. The code only applied to dealings with a knight's fellow nobles. Knights could treat the common folk however they wished, and often used their power to bully/rape whomever they pleased. I agree that there's something wrong with society today, but people in the past were certainly not paragons of virtue.

  • @melosebrainuhoh I understand what your saying, I was just brought up to believe that the knights honorably protected all people. But then again, like heroism, the terms honor and chivalry have been twisted around and usurped so many times that no one really knows what it means anymore.

I for one will always see the warriors of old (knights, samurai etc.) as honorable warriors

  • @sadlobster1 Historically they were people like you and I and varied just as much. Like Melosebrainuhoh said many were bullies and cowards, but many also embodied the very virtues that popular media paints them with today. Very little is black and white after all.

  • @sadlobster1 Ok we get it, The world sucks. Stop complaining already.

  • @codafett No need to be so harsh. I'm only saying that the morals and mindset of the 21st century leaves a lot to be desired

  • is it just me or does that little kid in the red shirt and jeans remind you of Billy Batson

  • @AFinleyProductions, you can say THAT again!

    Oh, wait, you did.

    And again.

    And again.

    And again.

But seriously, that's not Billy Batson. That's "Gabby" of the Newsboy Legion. His fellow Newsboy Legionnaires ("Scrapper" [with the hat], "Big Words" [with glasses], and Tommy Tompkins [their leader, here shown with beige shirt] — the black kid may have been "Flipper Dipper") were also forefront in that crowd.

  • @COMALiteJ I remeber those guys from the Superboy comics.

  • is it just me or does that little kid in the red shirt and jeans remind you of Billy Batson

  • I just love that part when they finally get reinforcements.

"The Crimson Avenger and my ex-Side-kick?!"

  • @EspyLacopa2 "Ex-PARTNER." lol Speedy.

  • the politics were a little to upfront for me

  • that girl with the staff should be dead.

  • he's like the hulk

  • I forget that general's name, but I still hate him with a vengence. It's guys like him that make me hate what our world's millitary has become; people thinking that being more powerful and mercilless to others is the only way to be strong.

I like old school warriors like Shining Knight, guys like him really know how to be REAL heroes

  • I agree with you on all except one point. I don't necessarily think that it is our military that has the problem--not our boys (and girls XD) overseas, anyway. It's the ones who have desk jobs and either don't know what real war is all about, or the ones who have forgotten. Everything has become about politics nowadays, and the ones at the top of the military today don't have 1/3 of the sense of justice those did only ten years ago.

I wish someone like Sir Justin was running our military.

  • There's also the people up there who forget that they aren't protecting the Nation, they're protecting the *People* of the Nation.

  • @EspyLacopa2 Are you saying that as a good thing or a bad thing? Because I've heard some protectors (real and fictional) vaule the lives of the people instead of the city.

Those heroes say that buildings, artifacts, sacred documents and other things can be replaced. But it's the peoples lives that matter most; the "good general" in my opinion only cares about America's global superiority and not the citizens, which really makes me sick

  • he sounds like batman

  • is this the result of the titan serum like in the batman arkham asylum? lol

  • They weren't exactly nameless...

They were Star Girl, Vigilante, Shining Knight, Green Arrow, and Arsenal/Red Arrow/Speedy...

  • From the World War 2 Golden Age they were the Seven Soliders of Victory and they were awesome!

  • wow that whole alternating speech scene with Shining Knight and Eiling is just fantastic one of the hightpoints of the season if you ask me.

  • So was that DCs answer to the Hulk? Marvel is much better.

  • No, the General isn't the Hulk of DC, he is a minor villain. I think the closest character to the Hulk would be Solomon Grundy, especially in his latest comic book series. He has several "Grundy Crush!!!" moments and times in which he reverts into his human form and thinks about his situation.

  • Cartoons nowadays are soo lame, i miss the good old Cartoons like Dex's Lab, Rugrats, Pokemon, Invader Zim, DBZ, Gundam, JLU, BB, STAS, BTAS, Looney Toons, even Powerpuff Girls.

  • I'll avoid criticizing some of your own choices in "good cartoons," but have to say this... Afetr thinking like you for a long time, then actually watching a few things? i came to realize something: It's not that everything new sucks, it's that the vast majority of things always suck. It's always a select few shows of an age that are really worth it, even back in the days when Invader Zim and JLU were new... How many other new shows did you really love? Dexter's Lab/Powerpuff?

  • invader zim was the best.

  • Stop! Your making me cry! I miss those too...

  • I love this episode, too. It's definitely one of my favorites.

  • stargirl is cool i wish she had more prominent places in episodes

  • Sorry, she's called Stargirl, not the Star Spangled Kid. Nevertheless ...

  • Actually, in the comics, she was Star-Spangled Kid, then Stargirl. Kind of a long story.

  • "why have they made the general a doomsday rip-off?"

To show what the kind of power the League was up against. Besides, since it's all within the D.C. camp, it's not exactly a rip off.

"the arthurian cunt superhero is a joke"

As The Shining Knight said, "the creeping moral decay" and as The Star Spangled Kid said, "potty mouth." How dare you call him a "cunt"? The character's courage is what defines that episode! Must EVERY character be dark and cynical? THAT'S cliche! THAT'S dominance!

  • @TheGreenVoter they kinda rip off hulk also

  • @TheGreenVoter looks like a mix between marvel's hulk with dc's doomsday.

  • The character of General Eiling in this form has been around for about 50 years. They actually ripped Doomsday off of him.

  • Wrong. Eiling went all monster in around 1998. Although, in the comics, he did use the body of an old JLA villain, the Shaggy Man, instead of some Super-Soldier serum.

And as long as I'm nerding things up, the heroes fighting Eiling in this ep correspond to the original Seven Soldiers of Victory, from the 1940s.

  • Yay!!

You know about the Shaggy Man! You actually read the comics this wonderful show was based on!

    Friend!

  • Also Shining Knight has been around for decades as well.

  • i LOVE VIGILANTE HES AWESOME and i love how he says darlin

  • This was always one of my very favorite episodes... So good.

  • anyone notice how bad a hulk ripoff this guy is?

  • God I love Shining Knight. *A*

  • So we go from shows like JLU this to "Batman the Brave and the Bold" WTF happened to CARTOON NETWORK!

  • Brave and the Bold's not that bad, though I think people wouldn't have a problem with Brave and the Bold if it wasn't for the fact that it's the only DC comics show now.

  • lol i bet anything if u made a poll with JLU vs BBATB that JLU would stomp all over BBATB. ya but u see ya point......which is why i pity the kids of today!

  • It was' The Batman' on the old Kids WB that fucked everything up.

  • WTF happened to Warner they are the ones that messed all, I agree with you "Batman the Brave and the Bold" really sucks

  • This is my favorite episode! I love Vigilante!

  • aww you skip the small part when crimson avenger steps in

  • ah they should really show this cartoon again. and of course make a few new episodes

  • nameless? really? you think they're nameless?

  • Nameless in the sense that they're not as powerful or popular as most of the other members of the league.

  • yea i said tha same thing i thought we were rly gunna jus see sum nobodys fite til i saw the green arrow n red arrow n vigilante n wutnot

  • Imagine that. All those nonpowered league members and an old lady saves the day. Who says ordinary people can't make a difference.

  • I wish my boy Crimson Avenger would actually have real parts not quite roles.

  • If they actually used all the DC characters, they would never run out of episodes.

I mean, we never saw Creeper do much outside of fighting the Ultamen, we never reall saw Atom Smasher outside of when he fought that armored suit fueled by rage.

  • wat episode is dis

  • so this is the hulk of dc....hulk would kill the general

  • You can't kill the general, his mind is in the body of the Shaggy Man who is indestructable.

  • hahah this guy is realy mad and ..i would love 2 see him fight grundy or superman!!

  • Having him throw down with Superman would get him a Super Beatdown from Superman and maybe the Superman Emergency Squad if Eiling was too much to handle...

And if need be, Krypto the Superdog...
