Wow..what an operation. Hope you were able to relocate a lot of those bees, to areas where they could be used for crops and other fertilization. Good Work!!
They do, but they don't sweat much - because very few animals have as many sweat glands as animals do, and often use alternative means [such as using ears as heatsinks] to cool themselves.
@123thenukeman That was a honey of a hive. He smoked the bees...that will give him a buzz. I wonder if the bees were gay...they were in the closet. I'm sure everyone is buzzing about the video. The bees are entertaining us in the video for nothing...they're free bees.
you mentioned that you don't like to use smoke during cutouts. Is that because smoke will permeate indoors? Doesn't look like you had such a problem with this colony .... or house, lol.
A lot of work for some bees. splits are sooo much easier & predictable
Great find. I figured about 3 hives. Alot of equipment needed before and after. Glad u had fun doing it. Hope to find anything like that this year. Good job!
@ThatFailedAbortion its not the house that is worth that much, the house is probably worth under $10,000 but the property is where the other $490,000 comes in.
Now everyone is going to search for beehives in abandoned houses in order to sell the honey. Looks like the housing bubble can still crate some jobs :p
im usually ok with bee hives concidering im allergic to them but I cringed when you said you had been stung 30 odd times, just one sting and that limbs puffed up like nothing, 30 makes me nervous to my core O_O

@ElevationLowJJ Not like a sponge... crush, strain, drain. Got 92 pounds, all was sold, it was a very popular flavor to my clients. I didn't care for it myself.
Suggestion: I'm a noob but looking at your "catching frames" it looks like you have some kind of rubber bands attached that you stretch aside and insert comb. Do you have a couple of nails on each end to hold the bands aside while you insert the comb? If not that may make it easier on you. Just a thought...

too wasteful. These are bees, not wasps. This means that if they cut out of the hive proper, they can sell it to bee farms somewhere else.
qichen85 1 month ago
@eat4peace two reasons.
First, bees are becoming endangered somewhat and mr bee man here both needs to keep his job and keep earth pollinated.
Second, melted wax sticks and attracts more bees.

Sir! I have important information for you!
Swine don't really sweat.
They do, but they don't sweat much - because very few animals have as many sweat glands as animals do, and often use alternative means [such as using ears as heatsinks] to cool themselves.
So, I think you meant "Sweating like a human".
