@BrunaoJazzistico The hole in the center of the mouthpiece, The throat, is wider - I think it gives a deeper tone. And a stock mouthpiece is probably like an average mouth piece you would find in a high school or such.
None of you have heard Del Staigers play Napoli. He was stone drunk. He was so bad off that they propped him up with pillows around him to keep him in the chair. He recorded Carnival of Venice on one side and Napoli on the other. Where the run goes up he continues up to High F above High C. no mistakes on either recording.
IT's available. I think that if you can not find it in a good music store, try the Library of Congress. They can tell you where to find it. (and buy it)
From 2:45 until the end you were seriously in the zone. Until then though, you seemed like you were playing too cautiously, like "I wouldn't want to hurt anyone." that type of cautious. But man after 2:45 something just clicked. Flawless ending. Amazing!

too light sometimes. doc severinson performs this piece the best in my opinion. it seemed light you would decrescendo while ascending and crescendo while descending on your scales so I would work on that if you ever played this again. Having said that, excellent work, good sound, style is the only thing that could use improvement. nice playing!!!!!
At the time, Bach Stradivarius model 37 with a 1 1/2C (throat drilled out to 26). I now play a Bach Stradivarius model 37 with a reverse lead pipe and a stock 1C mouthpiece.
again. i say. WOW. im a senior in highschool...just finished a summer at Brevard Music Institute and am now getting ready for college auditions. thanks for the inspiration.
Well done Alexander. A fine rendition of one of my favourite Trumpet (and Cornet) solo's. With the exception of the intro I can play up to the first piano interlude. I've been playing just over two years and as I'm 57 years old I may not get to play it completely. However when I hear the piece played so well it gives me the motivation to keep on practicing. Keep up the good work Alex.
check out this for interpretation youtube.com/watch?v=IXPEztVuGxc.. but you sound ok

What does it means? "throat drilled out to 26" and "stock" mouthpiece?
BrunaoJazzistico 1 year ago
@BrunaoJazzistico "Stock" means original mouthpiece from manufacturer--no modifications after purchase
"Throat drilled out to 26, [or any number]" means that the inside of the mouthpiece was opened up by a brass repairman

@alwtrp123 Thanks Alexander! I was trying to figure this out on the web but i couldn't. Fantastic playing by the way. Keep up the amazing work,

There is something about this guy that reminds me of Allen Vizzutti...
Gozaburo1 2 years ago
@Gozaburo1 same arrangement as allen i think
HolyEupho 2 years ago
No man, Allen Vizzutti hits a high F and then a pedal f at the end, and also hits a super C in the middle.

Maybe the first person ive seen play with his trumpet tilted so much....
Very nice job.

I love people who make erroneous claims on YouTube.
Ibanez3789 2 years ago
That is not an erroneous claim. I got it first hand from my trumpet teacher who was in the Phila orchestra and the Goldman band at that time.
xmetbass 2 years ago
I"m not saying that him playing it drunk was the erroneous claim. Assuming that nobody else has heard it, however, is.
Ibanez3789 2 years ago
I have the recording of it.On the other side is the carnival of venice.

At the time of this recording, a Bach 1 1/2C with the throat drilled out to 26 (stock is 27).
Currently, I use a 1C.

... just kidding^^, that was so awesome ! i like that you dont "overplay" the piece and your tonguing is so ridic. good.
