"...Most of the spin outs are caused by lifting--you have to have the balls to stay on the gas. If you lift, the weight of the v12 takes over and the ass end skates around the heavy-ass v12 that plants the front end. They knew what they were doing when they built the XJS."
Yeah, right. Vicious trailing-throttle oversteer leading to pirouettes and/or bass-ackward departures from the road--the ultimate goal of every suspension engineer. Sounds like antediluvian 911 behavior to me.
yeah the ass end does skate around the heavy-ass V12, mine is not a race car and I have to be careful if there is any sand, ice or snow on the road.
Sure are fun to drive anyways, just keep a 100 pounds of sand in the trunk, should be about 300 as it rides better with a trunk full of tools and a passenger in the car.
I own one. most of the spin outs are caused by lifting... you have to have the balls to stay on the gas. you must keep the weight transfer to the rearend. if you lift, the weight of the v12 takes over and the assend skates around the heavyass v12 that plants the frontend. You can however, lift to get the ass to start sliding than plant your foot to the floor to rocket out of the corner. Thats how that car was meant to be raced. they knew what they were doing when they built the xjs.
Nice to see the good ole XJS being driven like this mine is an '86 3.6. Don't thing I'd like to see her used this way. Never mind every man to his own. Better if they ditched the music sound track and let us here the exhaust note
The XJS has had 33 years to be a classic. I had two and they were great cars, but they'll never be worth more than a cup of cold p*ss. Good to see them being used like this rather that being unwanted MOT rejects.
I know that XJSs are treated as "Chevrolets" in the UK (See the Top Gear car), but its sort of a shame to see a "soon to be" classic car raced and wrecked en masse.

@treetrashish
during acceleration the power is transferred to the rear end so planting the pedal makes sense.

@CaptainCouncil
you can't say that for sure, you never know what they will become in the next ten years.
if that is your attitude then go and buy a new car, they will be worthless in less than 10 years.
