A green economy is great, but we should build it in addition to, rather than instead of, proven energy sources. If it works as well as advertised (a huge uncertainty), we can then shut the conventional sources down--AFTER we get off of foreign oil.
Two quick facts: we know g-warming might result in catastrophic consequences; we know we are going to run out of oil/gas (2100...) Is 90 years too soon to commit to building a sustainable energy industry? Is it not a golden opportunity for the USA to re-establish it's economy by leading the world in that initiative? I would suggest that bold action of that kind is a strategic necessity for US given our disadvantage in fossil energy potential. As oil becomes more scarce, our disadvantage grows.
Funny how these ads disappeared during the months of the BP Oil Disaster.

I am a sucker for this woman. Every time this commercial is on, I do a double take.
Too bad she's lying.

The subtext of this particular ad: if you support a green economy, you could lose your job. Apropos, this quote:
"When it comes time to hang them, the Capitalists will sell us the rope."
