We are getting ready to release a LIVE movie from 1988-1989 never before seen. Would you be interested in buying a copy? It's in production now and should be ready for release on the dath date of my friend Andy March 19th. send email to...
Hello MLB fans! In case of possible deleting my account because of 2 suddenly warnings from Youtube, here's the way to keep The Love Bone Earth Affair forever on your pc/mac/whatever :D
go to keepvid.com and paste the link of this video . After some time You'll be able to download few types of this recording.
@27rav you know who should be deleted? When you wanna see say, girls fight at backstage pearl jam gig, and there's a thumbnail of the fight, you click on it, wait for the screen to load and instead of a fight, you see a close up of a fat redneck douche just fucking TALKING about the fight and asking to hear your thoughts about it. THAT shit should be fucking flagged deleted, dragged out to the yard, and shot in the head. Not accounts like YOURS. You RULE.
Hey man, I can't thank you enough for posting these videos. You made not just my day, but my week and possibly my 2010 so far. Love you Andy, my star dog champion. This is the most skilled, weirdly most positive music I've ever listened to, never been bored by it all these years, even once. They're rocking the fuck out, and they're having so much frikkin fun doing it. LOVE.
hindsight is 20/20...the only people who know are the guys in the bands. What's happened is history...I wasn't there, you weren't there, most of the "what if" comments are all speculation
Alice in Chains first hit was not "Would?" When Andy died AIC had already released Facelift and it was climbing the charts. "We Die Young" was already a hit on metal radio. Layne Staley and Anyd Wood's careers ran parallel. When Wood was in Malfunkshun, Staley was in Sleeze. Jerry Cantrell and Wood hung out, but if Andy had lived Alice in Chains would have kept on going. Same with Soundgarden (Chris was on tour in NYC when Andy died). Pearl Jam would not have existed (nor would their copycats).
as terrible as it was when Andy died (RIP), a lot of other bands got a start. if he hadn't have died, Alice in Chains wouldn't have ever been big. their first hit was "Would?", which was a tribute to Andy Wood..Pearl Jam would have never existed, and without them, there would be no STP (you gotta admit, they started off copying the shit out of Peal Jam)..his death jump-started grunge.
Andrew Wood's death is one of the most tragic parts of rock history, in my opinion. Their stuff has just such a huge sound, huge presence. You could hear a MLB song out of a little tape player or being blasted at an arena and the personality is just as strong. And when you add to that Wood seems like a chill dude? Damn, they could have gone places. I'm stoked they finished their two albums before he passed, even that is something we're lucky to still have.
RIP Andrew Wood. An absolute master. I used to have this home video back in high school and I used to watch everyday. They would have been great, but in the wake of his tragic passing, some unbelievable acts rose from the ashes.
andy created LOVE ROCK W/ GROOVE... DAVID LEE ROTH WAS A COMMERCIAL THAT THEY CHEWED UP AND SPIT OUT, andy had more , a masterpiece in work, but kurdt took the rock, how could u not w. teen spirit??? there was somethin in the water in 88- 89
These guys were supposed to be the big origin of the Grunge thing yes? The dress isn't that off from LA at the time... with the cowboy hats, long hair, big glasses. Look at Love Hate, and you see similar dress styles. As far as the music THIS isn't so groundbreaking IMHO Seems like the music changed later with Nirvana & Soundgarden & Alice, but there are very noticeable influences there as well, like the punk and Sabbath for sure! Sure glad it took over the LA hair shit tho!
I've heard a rumor that when Andy Wood was in Malfunkshun in the early 80s that Axl Rose saw them and the way he dressed and sang and wanted to go for that look/sound. Andy was singing with that LA vocal style years before GnR formed.
you can say what ya want gnr were a rock'n'roll band yeah but they still fell into the hair metal category please read if you got em? any old magazines such as metal edge, hit parader, revolver, kerrang I have some of these from 1989 and on, so yeah they do fall in the hair metal group sorry to piss on your party but I've been a gnr fan since 1988 but I respect your opinion just some people may beg to differ it is an ongoing argument and we could go on forever.
Kurt Cobain, whether or not he commited suicide, would have become a superstar. He was unique, and as much as you'd enjoy to disagree, regardless of what Andy Wood put out... Smells Like Teen Spirit would still have dominated.
Kurt would have been large regardless. Nirvana played a completely different style of music and dealt with the angst of the young back then. Andy told stories of life and Kurt wrote about the difficulties of being alive. Andy though would have outlasted Kurt in the long run. Only if they could have never taken the needle. Ah, but that wish can never come true.
@bentleyabc his voice sounds quite a bit like Andy's. They both do pharagnal contractions(hard to describe what this is in writing) and have a similar tone when they sing in the midrange. The hair style and denim and leather with a more "down home" approach as opposed the the whole motley crue stilleto and makeup style is very much similar to the way Andy dressed at the time. No they dont look a ton alike but there were similarities.
A lot of hair metal bands such as GunsnRoses and motley Crue were very intimidated by the whole grunge movement and felt as though grunge was out to replace them and it did to a certain degree as soon as 92 rolled around GNR fell off the face of the earth as did a lot more that were popular in 90,91
It's funny to me how in the first vid Stone said they couldn't play as good as Aerosmith because imo Pearl Jam are now a much more skilled ensemble than Aerosmith. Better rhythm guitarist and a far superior rhythm section and more consistent songwriters. Mother Love Bone were amazing.
ahhh think they would have given RHCP a little more than 'competition'. they would have blown them off the map. um bcse MLB were *musicians*.

if Mr Wood where not died, you would be asking "axel what? ... kurt what?"... he could be the Morrison of the 90's, just to give an example.

Agreed. He had so much personality and charisma.
