right after alton mentioned to isolate the meat and mentioned "cross contamination" @ 4:03 a woman put raw meat into the top of the cart with other foods.
Lol. Ow! I was wearing my headphones cranked up high when that happened. I wonder who the screamers are? (Probably the behind-the-scenes people dressed in normal clothing...)
i'm sure that if i asked my store manager for a floor diagram so that i could plan my route through the store, he would just look at me and ask me to leave.
and when did the roaming gnome become part of this show?

The cooling really doesn't matter. If you cook it you'll be fine. You just can't count on cooling all the way. The cooling itself only kills a little anyway. Things like trichonella worms are inactivated by a few days of refrigeration so if you go from fridge to cooking directly you'll be fine
even if he puts his poultry on the bottom rack, the thousands of other people who shop every day most likely don't, so won't his food have a chance of being contaminated anyways?? i agree with the other person; bring your own cooler if you really want to be safe
The reason for that is a matter of cross contamination. You do not want your food covered in blood don't you??? Do not trust the package not to leak all over.

Could anyone please tell me where Cornish hens are from? I mean, Cornwall is in England, but Cornish hens are unheard of there, at least the name is.

I realized I had some smoked oysters opened in the fridge and that they could go bad soon! Needless to say I finished this part eating them.

alton im sure all ur food comes out good eats. i wonder, do u cook for your wife?
loschain 2 years ago
Actually, he might not. Most tv chefs don't often cook at home somewhat because they spend all day cooking and eating on the set(s) of their show(s).

My dad is a chef and he cooks at home.

@loschain I always imagine his kids asking for breakfast or lunch then alton breaks into some tirade explaining the history of fried eggs...lol

That thing about bacteria developing resistence is bullshit.
Exposing a population to tricholsan antiseptic will not propagate genes for resistance to say penicillin.
Anti-septics and antibiotics are distinct chemicals that act on different systems.
There's some remote chance that a total work-around of some common pathway could evolve but that discovery would probably win you a noble prize

That whole thing about putting all meat on the bottom of your shopping cart seems absurdly anal retentive. I don't think I'll EVER do that.
