Not that it's that simple a matter necessarily but i wonder if tibet's demonstrations, not this one, might be generally more peaceful if they didn't have their pacifist leader exhiled. I mean that doesn't even make any sense honestly, does it? If he's like too dictatorial or disproportionately rich or something they could've just decentralized the country, they didn't have to remove him which is probably just going to encourage drama. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama called a full amnesty (which means freedom for all) before he left the jokhang temple the first time when china entered tibet in 1950! so he freed them all!

thats just one of many things he wanted to change in Tibet, but the chinese now use that as propaganda and want you to believe that they freed the people there
