I have done research on him since the early 70's. I have talked with people who have trained with him and people who did some casual sparring with him, and there is no evidence that he ever engaged in fights outside the movies and simply sparring with his few private students.

Gene LeBell is a legend with a proven, documented record of skill -- both in mixed martial arts competitions and in pure judo. That's more than can be said about Bruce Lee. Gene LeBell is also incredibly respected in the movie industry, having done stunt work (and run a team of skilled stuntpersons) for generations of actors.

I have done research on him since the early 70's. I have talked with people who have trained with him and people who did some casual sparring with him, and there is no evidence that he ever engaged in fights outside the movies and simply sparring with his few private students.

In real life Lebell taught bruce lee wrestling and grappling privately (that's why you see bruce doing chokes in Game of death & Enter the dragon) And Bruce lee taught Lebell some of his techniques - Fact. Im a bruce lee fan but I also have respect for lebell. If Bruce Lee lived I wouldn't be suprised if Bruce used Lebell in one of his movies.

Chuck Norris admitted that and called Bruce Lee his teacher when he was in a Hong Kong TV show in 1969.

Wrong! People who do well in the ring not necessary do well on street fights, simply because they follow rules in the ring, but on the street it completely depends on potential versatility.
Gene LeBell is nothing more worth than a big ass judo bum, he only competed within the united state. I believe many judo practioners could kick his ass if he dared to put his ass elsewhere.

Gene LeBell is a legend with a proven, documented record of skill -- both in mixed martial arts competitions and in pure judo. That's more than can be said about Bruce Lee. Gene LeBell is also incredibly respected in the movie industry, having done stunt work (and run a team of skilled stuntpersons) for generations of actors.
