I'm not sure why the Panamera? It will be fast on the highway, but any car with similar performance and a shorter wheel base will be able to go faster through the corners. Plus any motor bike will totally kill it through the corners and traffic. Why not spend this money on a 2 door 911 turbo? Or 3 tuned Subarus/Evos/Skylines/Audis/et­c.?

These would be good for motorway patrols. Aswell as the Jaguar XF and BMW M5. We can keep the Subaru's and Mitsubishi's for sub-urbs and country lane areas. And the Vauxhall Astras would be perfect on the council estates :) Then Range Rovers for specialist units and a Mercedes Sprinter for a team on a raid.

Actually this car was provided by Porche to the Police for nothing. It gives them free marketing and the police a free tool against crime. This car then moves around the country to different forces.

Na your taxes wont have paid for that - manufacturers give the police demo vehicles in the hope that the force will buy their cars. You can often tell them because they say "POLICE" on them but don't say what force they're part of. I've seen a fair few Audis round like that recently.

I saw a report on that yes. I believe that a replacement Lambo is due soon though. The trouble with the lambo is it needs a support vehicle as it's got no back seats. this UK Police Porsche Panamera has plenty of room in the back for crims.

It's a Porsche so it'll go backwards at the first bend or break down a lot. Norfolk/Cambridgeshire are testing unrestricted Insignia VXR's at the moment so even the B roads won't be safe. Very good production though. :-)

It's front engined and 4wd. Even on the iced road the Porsche had enough grip for me to confidently stand on the outside of a corner filming. If I'd thought the Panamera would lose it round the corner I'd definitely have stood elsewhere!!
