induction motors are not good for ev's as they have little torque and low power/volume ratios, they are designed to run continuously at little load, what you need is a shunt wound dc motor
Well sir, I didn't knew that! But in those day's in europe we were making a lot EV back then. A lot of disabled people are using this kind of transport. And it is working perfect! (reach 50-60 mls) Sir, I thank you for sending me this information.
It is in fact true that small EVs are available for disable people since some years ago. However they use a simpler technology: DC motors (as for Golf cars).
One innovation of this project , among others, is the use of an AC motor to get better efficiency and performance.
my wheelchair seems to go faster then this thing and that is with people around...lol
how much greener you need to go? just buy a freaking wheelchair..lol oh almost 4god .....you don't have to use parking lot anywhere you just go straight in stores, bunks, movies, ur house, bathrooms, n ect
How often do you go to a gas station now? Do you always fill your car up each time you visit? 100 miles is about what I get out of a $20 pit stop in my ICE powered smog maker. That's a fine, achievable average for current technology electric commuter cars that should sell for below $15K here. Where are they?
this just seems to make so much sense, is our great nation of the united states interested. the motorcycle didnt bankurpt the dumb three,so i really dont think, this will.
why is everybody caught up on the long-range electric vehicle? just give me an EV w/ a range of 100 miles. then i can use that as a work vehicle. i will keep my gas car and only use it for the long trips. simple. we need a solution NOW. we don't have time to perfect the technology to replace gas, just phase it out.
i agree. for most cases 20-30 miles is ok too. just for the city and around. i see huge traffic jams every day, cars burning fuel but not moving. we have reached a state of comfort where we can't go 2 miles without our car. this comfort is destroying the planet and making us dumber and obese. we must act at once.
@dillroy333 because anything less than that is "Bullshitt",their is no reason at all for a non-fossil fuel vehicle to have less mileage, than a oil vehicle...."NONE
your right we should have that freedom and flexibility. Most families such as mine have three cars in the drive, or garage. so for everyday, around town, and shorter trips we use our electric vehicles, then for long trips we use our vegetable oil fed cars, but keep in mind, that's only for a few years until the technology progress's and will allow longer trips and quicker charges on our electric cars :-)
Gee, ScOTSDOC, why not ask for it to go a million kilometers at 150kmh carrying 6 people, 3 cows, and a hummer while you're at it? Those are my design specs damnit! LOL...
Hey, If you are really going to develop an electric vehicle please develop a speed/ navigation/anti-collision system by means, perhaps,of sensors and conductors buried in the road hard top. I'd like that in my new car too!
Please notice that this vehicle was the result of a 5 months graduation project by 4 students. . The current version was designed to be a neighbourhood electric with a 60 km operating range, which is more than enough to operate inside a city. It was started from scratch and now there are some incoming development projects for the vehicle.
Why dont you do as I do? drive a small economy car. When it is time for vacation or I need to drive 600 miles per day I rent a more comfortable car for $10 per day.
For what it's worth electric vehicles are better and more efficient than any internal combustion engine. This particular one is designed for tooling around the neighborhood (NEV). It sounds like what you want is the new Tesla Roadster.
I DON'T GET HOW AN A.C. SET UP GIVES BETTER EFFICIENCY AND PERFORMANCE?

Of course is driving slowly, this is a pedestrian zone.

Maybe... but with an electric powered vehicle you never get a piston seizure or a turbo burn out!!! Take a look:

Bobo you are right, most people don't even do an average of 30 miles per day let alone what SCOTSDOC is asking for.
