This is the best thing I have heard from her.A really special type of musicality.not a virtuosodemon but perfect finger work too..Here the music is magic!More than just delicacy and gentleness. This is on a par with her Grumiaux recs. The Magic is here it's more than just pianoplaying.i was never impressed withher but i can feel it in her Beethconcerto #4 as well as here.Finally.This is more than piano playing this is a special musicality!
well that s what i read .perhaps he s not. anyway I also read that she was mocked by English music clubs. it s all about looks. Who care about the playing. her fingers were slender, but long. I read just now she lost most her family fairly young but had many people supporting her through her life. don t know whether to belive most of what i read.loll.
Haskil is such a GEM! A pupil of Richard Robert, who also taught Serkin, as well as of Dohnanyi, a pupil of a Liszt pupil, Cortot, and Busoni...! With such an incredible pianistic pedigree and such a poetic temperament, Haskil can be considered one of the all-time greats. Thank God the people at Phillips didn't leave HER out of their series, too. Thanks so much for this great post.
lovely comment. Richard Robert was more like an uncle figure as well as agreat English piano teacher to Clara. She was orphaned. And suffered much illness in life. She was her own worst critic often forbidding people to praise her after recitals. i can think of many who could learn from this.
