The only thing about this I really don't like is the forced headset with the bit and the short reins.. Seems to be a very big thing with the Marwari people. Otherwise, funny as it looks, I can't really complain - the horses aren't terrified or resisting, they come right out of it and perk up and a few of them actually get praised. They're in good weight and look healthy. It looks funny to me, but I can't say abuse. Would just wish they'd loosen the reins a little.
These horses aren't abused. They have no ribs sticking out and look healthy, they've got a good size on them. Obviously I suppose not every country has the same ways of handling animals, but if anyone of these horses was abused I'm sure someone would have a bloody face by now. You can see, as soon as they finishe their tricks their ears prick up just waiting for the next command. They don't go flat against their head, and their's no resistance. Too many people like to yell abuse too quickly.
Well, they do look happier than some dressage horses. But there are also dressage horses who look happier than these horses.
Obviously, the happiest horses are the ones that get to stretch their necks and other muscles while playing with their companions in a nice big meadow.
This may not be ideal, but I also wouldn´t go as far as calling it cruelty.
Most of these horses look really well-cared for and treated well. They are praised for what they do with obvious pats and released from the dance as soon as they've performed it correctly. The only thing I really noticed was the horse before the gray one (at around 1:50) whose head was tied back for the arch in its neck. That and making it stand on the tips of its hooves makes me worried for the stress of the muscles. Overall, though, I see horses enjoying the dance
you know there some kind of a law in those country, the last drop of water will always be for the horse, over mother and children. I don't know many people who cherish more their horses that Arabians, their horses is the sun and the moon to them so i'm wouldn't worry much about the horse's health, which obviously quite good... and btw I don"t see many difference between this and European dressage, at least the horses heads are not glued to their necks...
you know they actually traet thier horses really well at the end ..around 4:30 ish I though they were gonna hit the horse when he fell off but he didnt..and the are all in Tip Top shape wow Beautiful <3
and through streams and jump them into and out of water. so i dont think its cruel to make the horse dance like that im pretty sure the horse would rather dance than runn its hardest and get yelled at and whipped for not being fast enough or good enough to run, jump, or turn at a full speed
i think it is beautiful to seee the horse doing this. yes some of wat they do looks bad but think about jumping horses, rodeos, and racing and other stuff. the horse must jump as high as possible(which strians the legs exspecially the front ones) rodeos we expect the horses to run full speed and turn sharply around a barrel or to run full speed and stop suddenly, racing we run the horse and dont let them rest till they cant go no more. cross contry we run the horse up and down hills
Its a big strong animal, if it can run around and jump over 6 foot high fences and shit im sure it can do a little dance, atleast their not cutting its legs and head off alive, YET.
For all the people ranting about "open mouths" "whips" "pulling on their mouths": head off to your local pony club next weekend and tell me that the little kids there dont reef, haul, boot, whip and scream at their ponies.
Hey Equine, are you completely blind? Can you not see that the majority of the horses in this video have wide-open mouths and are fighting the pain of thorn bits? Maybe in your world those animals are 'having fun'. In my world they're being tortured.
this does not hurt them watch their ears they r clean pulled backed 2 listen but not in a mad position and dont winy bout their joins jumping weel destroy a horses joints ok
lovely horse just a shame for it to be in the wrong hands!!!! doing this can really damage a horses joint fell sorry for the horse putting up with it!!!!!
Mais c'est affreux de faire faire ça à des chevaux ! Je n'ose même pas imaginer comment ils leurs ont apprit cela, le cheval est complètement plier, complètement dénaturé !
Love it! :D And for those of you think that they're getting pushed down, and then suddenly "focred" to jump, they're not. Horses are MUCH stronger than humans are, no matter what. If they really didn't want to do this, they could have easily lashed out. Horses arn't some fragile creatures that need coddling. They can take of themselves, what with fending off predators in the wild and such. So yeah... they're fine. But I digress... Must've required a lot of training. Koodos to the handlers, too!
nice video, love the horse dancing and the tent pegging. shows the beautiful culture of punjabis and for you ppl who call this abuse go suck a toe because it is no where near abuse, iv seen how they are trained, isn't it abuse when the westereners have rodeo festivals? so stop hating and enjoy the video
Hard on the horses' joints. Dressage is the most stressful discipline for horses, more than jumping. Dark horse looks healthy but I think it's too much stress on his hocks. What the bay horse is doing is horrible, sorry. It degrades the horse, makes him look disfigured. Horrible. What is the point? It's weird, unnatural. It's not graceful or beautiful at all.
Dressage is NOT the most stressful discipline for horses. Have you ever heard of Thoroughbred racing? Do you know how many hundreds of horses die on racetracks every year from racing related injuries? Dressage is not stressful, but it is demanding. Horses develop a great deal of strength, muscle, and balance by doing dressage. It is the foundation of ALL other disciplines. Let me know when you hear about a horse dying from a dressage accident, then we'll talk.
Real horse training , look at the horse's ears, if you know anything about horses they are not enjoying the dance but they are not fighting neither. Excellent training wish I could send a couple of my mutts over there to get some manners!!!
i really dont see why people are getting so worked up and calling this abuse, its not, the horse would not do it if it didnt want to, and the culture they are from all but worshops the horse, a horse is held higher in a mans heart than his wife over there.
well we can agree to disagree on that point, but that doesn't change that the treatment these horses are getting is no worse than many many horses who are "tapped" here in America for whatever discipline they are doing. One can look at dressage and think that its not natural for them to do any of that and many dressage horses swish their tails and are tapped regularly- thats how they teach the piaffe- but no one criticizes them.
what makes it so great to watch is that the stallions do it all for a pat or a rub on the head. They truly love their job and obviously their handlers care about them or they wouldn't rush over to lavish them with praise. beautiful, concentrated horses who love their job and amazing training on the handlers part. :)
Most of these horses have their teeth bared and chomping at the bit, ears pinned back and their tails flapping in either anger or discomfort. Most look very unhappy doing this but the grey stud/gelding looks to be happy, but then again he isn't digging his feet into the ground like the bay at 1:30 and being whipped. Poor bay horse :(
@LifeIsDeceiving the guy wasnt whipping the horse. it was barely a flick of the wrist to give the horse a little more incentive. if you think about it, we would have to try VERY hard to hurt a horse considering they kick each other in the gut out in the pasture all the time and thats no big deal to them sooo.....i didnt see any cruelty here. and swishing tails and such is not always a sign of unhappiness. Judgement always jumps with his ears flat back and im sure he is not abused or unhappy.
@LifeIsDeceiving Horses have thick hides. You can't possibly compare a human being whipped to a horse being whipped. Lightly whipped is not getting flayed.
@passingbynight You're going to tell me they have thick skin yet when a fly lands on them do they shiver their skin to get it off? Yes they do and that goes to show how sensitive their "thick" hide is.
@LifeIsDeceiving That is really not a good comparison. A fly landing on the hide is different from a fly stinging the horse. Also, the horse fly is an enormous insect. CRUEL?!?! i see no cruelty, i see healthy happy horses! You wanna see cruelty then go to a sight that says animal cruelty. They are not beaten, and a horse will not do something that he doesn't like. The horse isn't pushed, pulled or dragged. They look like they are having fun and thats the way it should be. I think its awesome that the horse can do something like that, way cool tricks. Loved it!!
I see no cruelty... what looks like reins under the legs is poor vid quality. They aren't being beaten into it, they're all healthy, they are rewarded with a pat on the head when they're done. Its quite amazing how the horses move.
The horses are clearly supported in levade by their handlers. If they weren’t their muscles wouldn’t be able to do this until they were further trained. @TheEquine Thats exactly right, Some would say dressage is a cruel sport due to many people using tight reins and over flexing, This is true that this is a trick and gives the horse a job. Just like a human they are happy when they are concentrating on ones job.
@kittykat8606 Yes exactly! Hyperflexion of the horse's neck is a shortcut that in my opinion is cruel. But it being used here does not mean that this discipline itself is cruel any more than dressage is. There are bad trainers and bad methods in all equine sports... but there are also good in all too... yes even strange-looking foreign ones!
@TheEquine My horse also does a lot of tricks...but my methody of training are without any forcing or pain! The horse should have fun by doing tricks...these horses are frightened, in panic and everyone can see the pain caused by the sharp bits in their faces...These poor horses surely do not ENJOY the pain these idiots are inflict to them! So shut up if you haven´t a clue!
Good to see horses having fun for once and enjoying concentrating on doing their job well - in this case a levade with tempi-taps which requires focus (that's why the ears are back people - concentration) then stopping when they've pushed themselves enough and bouncing up with perky ears to get their treat. I hope to visit this show one day - Magnificent!!
i agree with turtle08s i really dont think they are happy, more pissed off then anything. they cant be happy. the average weight of a horse that size is between 800-1000 lbs, all that weight on 2 feet and doing stuff like that... i wonder how sound they will be when they are older.
MrFRISKYWHISKY - If you could just see how the civilized military of Pakistan makes horses dance as well - horses and dogs are the most civil of all animals, and can be tamed to do whatever ! Is playing fetch not cruel and humiliating? These horses simply LOVE to dance - and mind you, there owners might sleep hungry, but they make sure that their horse is cared for and spend a hefty amount on their food and well being ! Search for Horse and Cattle show !
The horses are writhing in pain, people. I am embarssed for you because you call yourselves "trainers." Tying animals up and forcing them to do unnatural things is HARAM!!! These beautiful horses are hate their owners and trainers. Just think, these "horse trainers" probably wouldn't be able to handle their horses if they weren't tied up. All of you that think this is so wonderful don't know about horse training and you have never been tied up. Besides, horses like women, not most men.
this is f***ing disgusting,, who ever torchures these poor horses who are ment to be free.. i hope u no u deserve to fry in hell..! nothing to be proud of.. F**K YOU!
Its called "EVOLUTION" you should not question animal intellect. This dancing trait exits in arabian horse and where ever arabs went this trait went them including some breeds of horses in spain, subcontinet, south america and mid east.i mean same goes to parrots, they are not taught to speak like humans but naturally they have ability to mimick sounds. There are tons of video even on youtube of birds of paradise in austraila, africa etc which will confirm my statement.
That is sick.

These horses simply LOVE to dance - and mind you, there owners might sleep hungry, but they make sure that their horse is cared for and spend a hefty amount on their food and well being ! Search for Horse and Cattle show !

i really think this is cruelty, look at his back legs, he is probley in so much pain, horses legs cant stand that kind of pressure.
