Just an update here, this is live with recorded music but LIVE vocals. And one more thing...The KJV doesnt have verses in it that other versions dont... as a matter of fact, the original bible was written in Greek, the closest version to the Greek is the New American Standard, not the KJV!!
here is how i feel about this topic...this man has been blessed with an amazing voice and musical talent! the fact that he has chosen to glorify God with it is amazing! now, the KJV is a wonderful version of the bible, but thats all it is, a version. Psalm 23:1 in the NLT says "The Lord is my shepherd I have everything I need." Does that make it less holy? Does that take away what the verse is trying to say? NO! I've never heard David Phelps in person. I just can't imagine! What power but with such a gentle and genuine spirit. You know what's cool? When we all (saved by the blood of Jesus) get to heaven, we'll have "endless" time to enjoy his music and others...can't wait!!!
I have seen David Phelps twice... his show is just awesome!!! His voice is so rich and pure, when you hear in in person it is almost too hard to describe. He is so very blessed with a talent like few others have... go see him if at all possible...you will never forget it...

The Bible states "The righteous man judges all things" and "you shall know them by their fruits". What are Davids fruits? I've never seen this so called Holy man knock on one door lead 1 soul to the lord.
@mylongsword I think that same Bible clearly states there was only ONE man righteous and His name was Jesus. Are you pretending to be God or Jesus? David brings people closer to God by his music. Besides do you know what he does in his everyday live? You will be judged, the way you judge others. With the measure you use it will be measured to you.

What a glorious performance. David is the best singer in the world. But he would be the first to tell you that its not about him, he sings his heart out for our Savior. As for the lukewarm audience they need a few Russ Taffs in the audience, he always gets excited when David hits the high notes, as do all of us Phelps Phans.

I don't believe in a Long hair Jesus and I don't think Jesus would be rocking out in a leather jacked if you read/study the King James Bible you would feel the same way. I love the song and I love glorifying God maybe this guy should be opening for Hinder or Creed instead he looks and acts the part well. And as a christian we are to judge what is sin and what is acceptable before God.

What is wrong with those people sitting there? Everytime I hear this song it makes me shout and sing out praises to our risen Lord. David is singing his heart out and everyone in the audience from what I can tell looks like they are dead. Folks He's alive and our sins are forgiven, jump up andshout Praises to his name. You are correct about David's great arrangement and performance. But, this song was not written by Dolly Parton, she only performed and recorded it several years. A gentleman named Don Francisco wrote this song in the mid-1970's and was the original artist for the song's release.

Actually the historical background of the Bible is one of its most solid backings. Whatever the secular world has tried to use historically to disprove it has failed. The Hittites, Assyrians, Sodom, Gomorrah, Jericho, Pontius Pilate and the Parting of the Red Sea to name a few. I would make the same challenge to you, look into the background and history of the Bible and match it with archeology. It has much firmer historical and archaeological proof than evolution.

Some people are more reserved. However, if you are actually interested in the people sitting on the sofa, as opposed to the delivery of the awesome piece of music, they are very intent on David. in the latter part you wil see the woman nodding her head, and the man does not wait for the conclusion to begin applause. Why the need to find fault. Are you actually a Christian. If so, I would suggest you display a little more grace.

i'm not showing off at all. i'm simply stating my classically trained opinion. and i never said he wasn't excellent in his lower register, he still is. i simply said he lost a bit of his lyric nature, or in layman's terms, a sweeter richer tone. and, since he is a tenor, this is quite normal anyway. HOWEVER, i still hold that David Phelps is the greatest non-operatic tenor singing today. he is one of my favorite voices and i love his work. so please, don't attack my opinion.

The Bible states "The righteous man judges all things" and "you shall know them by their fruits". What are Davids fruits? I've never seen this so called Holy man knock on one door lead 1 soul to the lord.

@mylongsword I think that same Bible clearly states there was only ONE man righteous and His name was Jesus. Are you pretending to be God or Jesus? David brings people closer to God by his music. Besides do you know what he does in his everyday live? You will be judged, the way you judge others. With the measure you use it will be measured to you.

There is something known as discerning. When I see your screen nick name, that appears to be the first indication of your intent. Your attacks, the second indication. Your babble and distraction yet another. The Lord said "You shall know them by thier fruit" and the fruit of your words are anger, disruption, accusation.
If you're typing to intentionally cause problems: The Lord rebuke you.
If you are not, simply appologize for offending and stop and let that be the end of it.

I was exposed to way too many such people in my formative years attending a very fundamentalist church, and it continues to contribute to my spiritual journey to this day. The thing is, I wish people would learn not to feed the TROLLS on the internet, which this person clearly is. They get off by disruption and giving them attention, it merely fuels their sickness.

Thanks mystikarma for your comment. I understand what you are saying. We all have denied knowing Christ at one time or another. But praise the Lord we all have been welcomed back into the fold once we realize we can't do anything without Him leading us. And He is just and forgives us and opens His arms wide to draw us near to Him. Hallelujah!! And praises to our Living God who doesn't judge us by our outward appearance but by whats in our hearts.

What a glorious performance. David is the best singer in the world. But he would be the first to tell you that its not about him, he sings his heart out for our Savior. As for the lukewarm audience they need a few Russ Taffs in the audience, he always gets excited when David hits the high notes, as do all of us Phelps Phans.

I don't believe in a Long hair Jesus and I don't think Jesus would be rocking out in a leather jacked if you read/study the King James Bible you would feel the same way. I love the song and I love glorifying God maybe this guy should be opening for Hinder or Creed instead he looks and acts the part well. And as a christian we are to judge what is sin and what is acceptable before God.

As a Christian's we are to be tolerant and love your neighbor, not judge.. that is God's job to do when we stand before him. What is wrong with those people sitting there? Everytime I hear this song it makes me shout and sing out praises to our risen Lord. David is singing his heart out and everyone in the audience from what I can tell looks like they are dead. Folks He's alive and our sins are forgiven, jump up andshout Praises to his name. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of what we are doing just the Lord. He wants us to be joyful in our worshiping not stiff necked.

i love david singing this...even though don francisco wrote it and is good at singing it...(watch him singing it on gaither dvd 'journey to the sky') but its like this song was wrote for david to sing...he is just amazing and is great at singing story songs :) so dramatic..just love it

that was hilarious. man, i had no idea that dolly parton wrote this song until i searched it. its so awesome and i love david's arrangement of it. he has such emotion in his voice its chilling. i guess thats what a degree in vocal performance will do for ya, and or the power of god of course lol

You are correct about David's great arrangement and performance. But, this song was not written by Dolly Parton, she only performed and recorded it several years. A gentleman named Don Francisco wrote this song in the mid-1970's and was the original artist for the song's release.

no, it's an audio/video sync issue which happens often on youtube...I've seen this video on tv and it was perfectly in sync. If there is one singer that would NEVER lip sync, it would be Phelps.

I know what I was, trusting in my own self. Trusting and having faith in Jesus, I know what life I have now believing in Him, His words. Indeed you ARE taking your chances... Hinduism is far older than Christianity. You could never know if the Hindu's are right vs. the Christians. And if the Hindus are right you are screwed when reincarnation comes around. But then again Hinduism doesn't have any better proof of it's God's either. No religion does-- so why do you believe? You haven't seen him yet you have faith. Why not have that same faith in harry potter then? My point is that Christianity = Harry Potter = fairy tales.

Actually the historical background of the Bible is one of its most solid backings. Whatever the secular world has tried to use historically to disprove it has failed. The Hittites, Assyrians, Sodom, Gomorrah, Jericho, Pontius Pilate and the Parting of the Red Sea to name a few. I would make the same challenge to you, look into the background and history of the Bible and match it with archeology. It has much firmer historical and archaeological proof than evolution.

DP's, has a wonderful voice,an amazing loving spirit. Fanstic job, well done. Also, My mother always said if you have nothing good to say about a person(s) then say nothing. And, about the TV show, the set is small, and James and Betty where paying attention to the music, David Phelps had complete control of his viewers.(you could hear a pin drop) And this was a TV show not a rock consert. Some people are more reserved. However, if you are actually interested in the people sitting on the sofa, as opposed to the delivery of the awesome piece of music, they are very intent on David. in the latter part you wil see the woman nodding her head, and the man does not wait for the conclusion to begin applause. Why the need to find fault. Are you actually a Christian. If so, I would suggest you display a little more grace.

i'm not showing off at all. i'm simply stating my classically trained opinion. and i never said he wasn't excellent in his lower register, he still is. i simply said he lost a bit of his lyric nature, or in layman's terms, a sweeter richer tone. and, since he is a tenor, this is quite normal anyway. HOWEVER, i still hold that David Phelps is the greatest non-operatic tenor singing today. he is one of my favorite voices and i love his work. so please, don't attack my opinion.
