Hi, Very Informative....I have a Sony Handycam Vision Video Hi* CCd-TRV67 and I want to transfer my video to my computer. Do you have any idea how this would be done? Thanks!
@wahahahahaable Yes, you can see through some things, but I think you have to have the right conditions and use an IR filter (now I remember reading this that the regular wavelengths interfere. I might buy one to test it.)
@AllAmericanFiveRadio This has to be one of the nicest camcorders in my collection on the consumer level. I plan to shoot long-form events with this because I have twice the recording time of DV! Great for tripod and LANC operation, plus an optional shotgun mic or smart-shoe device.
How is this in low light Bryan? I know some I've seen of Vwestlife's can handle 0 lux. Nice to see a battery cover and LANC input. Check out my pistol LANC control video.
@GanEdenAustralia In low light, this camcorder will become quite grainier than my FX1, but it is not intolerable. You cans see how it looks when I'm pointing at the black case - it's trying to boost the signal because the auto-iris senses a dark object. When using infrared, it's great, plus it has the built-in IR light. This does not have "Night Shot Plus" which is just a major decrease in shutter speed plus IR.
The mid to late 90s Video8/Hi8/Digital8 camcorders are great. Good quality and lots of features. I have a Sony CCD-TRV77 Hi8XR camcorder wich I think came out in 1999. I shot many YouTube videos on it in 2010 because it had so much more cool features than the small Panasonic SD card camcorder I had back then.
@DrCassette Oh, how things get WORSE as time goes on! Camcorders of the consumer level have fewer features, and despite saying "HD," have less quality than these from over 10 years ago! Try hooking up your modern consumer SD camcorder to the VCR for digital transfer or using an external mic and headphones - impossible. Picture noise has gone from just noise in analog, to noise + block artifacts from high compression - the picture "seethes" with noise and blocks...just terrible.
Yes, it is hard to find good quality fully-featured camcorders. I'm currently using the Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder. It was one of Sony's 2008 top of the line models and still it's missing some features I would like to have.... I used to have a Panasonic SDR-S26 camcorder, it was pretty good, but you couldn't do anything creative with it because it had no connections except A/V out and USB, and all the manual controls were operated with a joystick :P That's why I got the Hi8 XR.
hi m8 what size is the lens i have one but need an infrared filter for it i use it for ufo s

@SebiStudios2 Yes. They are both compatible, but you cannot play a tape recorded in Hi8 format on a Video8 camcorder - the picture looks messed up.

@walkyourdog123 You have to record over what you've shot, so transfer your footage before erasing tapes!

how do you connect this camera to a computer?
chicagobulls463 8 months ago
@chicagobulls463 You need to get an A to D converter, like my Canopus ADVC110. Then you need a fire wire and firewire card on your computer.
