AND THOSES HORRIBLE OBNOXIOUS (NOT CUTE AT ALLLLLLL) AAAAAHS AND AYE YA YAYES ARE NOT IN THE SCORE LEONARD BERNSTEIN WROTE!!!! AND WTF IS THAT HIGH C DOING IN THERE?!?!?! BERNSTEIN DIDN'T WRITE IT!!! How was Sondheim okay with this?!?!?! He didn't write it for a reason. I hate this whole production. It made me so mad. However, her voice is very beautiful. It's not her fault that it sucks.
Lea Michelle auditioned for this in 2008, but didn't make it. She was so devastated. But Idina Menzel told her to keep trying... then the doors of GLEE opened. (Lea was the lead in Spring Awakening, together with Jonathan Groff, so she has a nice background in broadway) If she became Maria, she wouldn't be Rachel in Glee.
Proves that when one door closes, a gazillion windows open.
Honestly for me, Lea is better than Josefina. They're both awesome.
@maruchitaxxx96 ..... you are SO RIGHT about that Lea Michelle idiot!! whoever told that mess she could sing was either drunk or tweaked out on crackcocaine!
I think that Lea Michele would have been amazing in this. She was upset when she didn't get the part of Maria in the revival. Josefina is great though.
@KrystenWilson Lea just doesn't have the soprano, I'm sorry to say. In both Tonight and One Hand, One Heart the key had to be taken down (1 and 2 whole steps respectively), and even then she quivers. Make no mistake, I think Lea Michele's voice is a gift from Heaven and she can emote and belt like nobody's business and I love her for it. But this role isn't right for her. I think she'd make a better Anita, actually. So she could belt. Oh, wait, the dancing. It's just not the right show for her.
@daveedo10 I disagree. I believe that Lea does have the soprano. As for taking the key down for the songs on Glee, I have a feeling that they did that because a lot of people who watch the show aren't going to take to having Lea singing sing the high notes in a soprano that the original key requires. The show is very mainstream.
@futurefiyero I think you're half right here. The ts at the end of the words need to be at least pronounced.
But nothing kills me more than overdone diction in theater. Because then you lose the character in the diction. I LOVE the way she pronounces the word pretty. It's very natural
@itchyrox the original lyrics were pretty and witty and bright. they changed the song lyrics to day and gay for the movie because they changed the plot for the movie.
This is actually the one song in the show I think is better in spanish. Because some of the words in this song do NOT show off her voice very well.... like all the "r" sounds.
this one is great. I really like the spanish one a little better though now that i know wat they are saying beacuse the voices sound darker and stronger like in opera.
she has a good voice

Does anybody have the full version of A Boy Like That/I Have A Love? If you do can you post it?

I like the original version of this song better. The AYE YA YAYES are just obnoxious. It's not enjoyable to listen to.

@futurefiyero When you're just talking normally, you don't say "pre-Ty." It sounds more like "priddy." She's being conversational.
