Hey Pablo, sorry I'm so late responding. Yep, they had cameras, but, I wasn't around in '63. Ha. Was born 6 years later....and I didn't grow up in Ennis.
Nice drill, Ennis '63-;64. Good sound, ranks and diagonals. You probably a one at UIL with that performance. I would have enjoyed marching against you at UIL. Ralph, Irving High School, Horn '64
Woah..they had cameras back then???? haha who knew. Mr. Ingram is this really you?!?!?! This is your number one oboist (lies) Pablo:) if this is you...wiah were you in this????
most bands used the 6 steps to 5 yards, but a few used a 8 step to 5 yard format, allways looked unnatural to me and a whole lot more work for the kids marching.
I agree. Nowadays, high school marching bands are good still (in Texas specifically), but I miss the days when they actually used precision drills like this one. Nowadays, on average, they play bad arrangements of crappy songs, don't do as much marching, and I HATE it when they use amplified instruments. You aren't watching a show in a band hall, so why would you want to feature an instrument that needs to be amplified? Know what I mean?
I couldn't agree with you more, also nothing angers me more when I hear the works of a classical composer being blared from the field. QUSTION did all of the bands of this era use the 6/5 step?
Thanks to the person posting this video. Ben a long time since I have seen it. I am one of the tuba players in the band. Jerry
