I bought a new Small Stone Phaser a couple of weeks ago. It's brilliant/Beats the pants off everything else for getting that krautrock/Trans-Europe Express/Heroes/side two of Low type sound on keyboard/computer generated sounds. Haven't tried it with a guitar yet.
i used to have the larger version ....bad stone phaser .....sadly it was stolen quite a few years ago.......it had speed, intensity, and i think, mix control.you could actually stop the phase and sweep it manually, really usefull for getting some great guitar tones.the phaser had a sound quality out on its own .....extremely smooth i've never come across one to beat it.....wish i still had one
i got exactly the same with its original box (1977 model) !! quite different from the first model (the green one) but still a great pedal i love it ! thank you !
Nope, not correct. The rate of the smallstone on this clip is tuned just a bit more faster than what Jarre always prefer. You can very slow with a normal EHX smallstone like you want without any mod. I even don't think that the EHX smallstone from Jarre is modified at all. With every EHX smallstone you can rate to veeeeeeeeeeery slow to real fast. This clip is just the knob from the rate set higher. That is all. For slower rate just turn the knob slower, you can slow and fast like you want.
I just bought a Mike Matthews Dirt Road Special 110 with the small stone built into it, needs a few repairs but I'll get there in the end! Anyone have any info on these amps?
Hi-I have the original that's over 30 years old. Is that the same model you're using (I think it's called v.1)? I lost the power supply- do you know what type of PS it takes? Also, if I take it apart, does it take a battery? Thanks!

Both Bob Marley's band and Burning Spear have used the Small Stone to get funky-sweet reggae melodies too.

I love my Stone!!! I use it on every Electric Piano I play. I use it with my Solina as well. Mine is all military green, though.

Is this version of the small stone just for keyboards or can it be used with guitars?

Jarres pedal has been modified so it can phase slower. It's a small modification which only involves a new bigger resistor.

That's right, jarre turns it slower. But, in fact, he didn't use 9V but 8,5V to get a softer effect.

Any ideas on how to overcome the volume drop when phaser is engaged??
clockworkaccordion 3 years ago
use a compressor right after the phaser.
alsharpton666 3 years ago
Thanks for that, having fun with this pedal and my synth. Checking out compressors now, cheers

There's a cheaper alternative, which is made for this purpose. It's called a True-Bypass looper

Very nice. Electro-Harmonix makes some nice effects. I use several of them with my guitar. Thanks for the video.
