Not really, save the guts for bait if necessary. I don't eat the heads, but keep it on so you have a spot to feed the "spit" through. It may fall if not balanced, but the mouth will keep it up long enough for you to fix it.
Anther option is to use green sticks and make an "oven rack" over the coals, and just lay the fish out.

Not everyone enjoys the taste of raw fish. Even Japanese people cook fish. But maybe it'd be okay in a survival situation.

@back2back916 salt water fish is different then freshwater. There is also some prep work to eating a fish raw.
