  • There's a couple things. one, almost all of chicago's venues are already built, so they don't need money to build too much, only the washington park stadium and the olympic village. there would need to be upgrades made, but nothing major. also, there are already planes to totally renovate the public transit system. there's plans for everything. 6 DAYS UNTIL THE OLYMPICS COME TO WHERE THEY SHOULD. CHICAGO 2016 ALL THE WAY!!

  • your an idiot.. they dont have to do much my ass.. they have to build a whole entire new stadium.. fix our transportation, fix our curroption and much more.. i am in favor of us having the olympics here.. opera nd the obamas went to the meeting.. without barrak we wouldnt of had a chance of getting it here. but we still might not.. but we still have alot of things to work on.. and to fix and to build..

  • Also, while the Olympics can be a morale boost, they rarely result in economic success. Look at London: their costs have risen to four-times the original estimate. They are a money suck...just as Montreal. Chicago should hope for some good publicity, a few new facilities, and (we pray!) a new and better CTA. The latter (transport) could be the thing that loses the games for Chicago. Barcelona is a good example for Chicago to follow.

  • Sounds like Southparkfan might be "protesting too much." To bring up the gay pride parade so randomly, and without any provocation? Usually such random statements - detached from the topic at hand - indicate a sense of inner fear... a sense that one might be found out. Come out southparkfan! It's OK...we understand your fear, but you'll be much happier once you acknowledge your homosexuality. Come out! Come out!

  • I'm disappointed that the swimming venue is going to be an outdoor venue. I think it should be a year round factility that could be used for other events such as the NCAA's and Big Ten. I see it going into disrepair very quickly instead of being a world class aquatic facility.

  • Hey D.F or is it D.S.? Check your crime statistics.....it's much safer here in Bridgeport than "wrigleyville" or is it lakeview??

  • go go chi town :)

  • I really hope chicago is chosen in 2016! Because then i just might get to go!!

  • amazing! can you imagine if baseball is brought back to the games in 2016.... with the gold medal final taking place in historic wrigley field. GO CHICAGO!

  • as cool as that would be it might be hard to have a lot of games there because baseball season will still be going on

  • it wouldnt be that hard to schedule the gold medal game for a cubs away game ...

  • yeah thats true- i thought you meant having all of the baseball games there- that would be a little harder to do

  • well first, baseball is not returning to the 2016 games. Rugby and golf are making a return. Wrigley field is already optioned to become a makeshift rugby field for the games if chosen. Wrigley was chosen because of its historical significance to the city

  • That hasn't been determined yet. It will be when the host city is announced.

  • The Cell? You want foreign athletes being mugged in the parking lot and gunned down in gang crossfire? No. Plus, one of the hopes the organizers have of hosting the Olympics is to give the world an idea of Chicago's beauty. They want people to come back. The Cell, along with it's surroundings, is an ugly architectural disaster.

  • You have not been on the south side for a long time have you. The projects are all gone, cops are cracking down harder then ever on any form of violence in the neighborhood (just think of how much further it they will be by 2016), the neighborhood looks the nicest its ever look in its history and getting nicer, and the ballpark itself is beautiful and built for modern day players and fans. Not to mention the athletes wouldn't be a risk of getting caught in a gay pride parade.

  • thats not very nice.

  • I think the plan is Wonderful and will beauty to the city. Although I hear a lot about the competitors and not about us the residents. I don't want us the residents of our beautiful city to be treated as outsiders when it comes accessing these parks. Metal detectors and so forth. I think that we the residence deserve More. Not to mention Bronzeville residence whose beach access will be effected by Olympic residential village. After all who is putting up the tax money for this to happen?

  • YEAH CHICAGO 2016.

I really hope we get chosen. It would be the honor of a lifetime to help host the Summer Games.

Plus it would be a fantastic boost for morale and the economy in Chicago.

Heres hoping for the best :)

  • Wooooow iz beautiful i am an olympic hopeful. i just wanted to cry wen i saw ith the track and everything looks beautiful

  • !!!!!!!!!Choose Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gave my family and I goosebumps watching this! A beautiful plan for a beautiful city! GO CHICAGO 2016!!
