The apache helicopter is a nice piece of weaponary. It is probably the best all-round attack helicopter to date. The huge volly of firepower a single apache can lay down on ground targets is both amazing and devastating which makes it ideal for providing close air support for the troops on the ground. The only real weakness is that in order to use it to full effect one must have complete control of the skies (which is almost always the case) if you don't they will be shot down fairly quickly...

The weapon the men had hidden in the field could have easily been a manpads.

Stinger - 4.8 km
So it is entirely reasonable that they COULD have had a weapon capable of downing the heli.

The apache helicopter is a nice piece of weaponary. It is probably the best all-round attack helicopter to date. The huge volly of firepower a single apache can lay down on ground targets is both amazing and devastating which makes it ideal for providing close air support for the troops on the ground. The only real weakness is that in order to use it to full effect one must have complete control of the skies (which is almost always the case) if you don't they will be shot down fairly quickly...

In Germany the state (so by their taxes your fellow citizens) pays your health insurance,

The purchases power of german people erroded because germany reunited in 1990 and about 1000 billion dollars had to be paid to rebuild former eastern germany (to you americans "the bad germany") western standards. This resulted in higher taxes. Then globalisation took a lot of german peoples their jobs. Which resulted in even higher taxes becauses we have a very good wellfare system over here...virtually all germans (even the jobless) have health insurance for example.

This clip is actually an incomplete version of the events. The original clip is much longer, and shows the men on the ground wielding and then attempting to conceal their weapons. The pilot and gunner didn't immediately engage as this clip suggests. Further, when they did, it was after they had reported the weapons on the groung, and received subsequent clearance.

30mm armor piercing chain gun...yep, very powerful and accurate up to one mile. But in this was mistaken identity at it worst. Insurgents are not into plowing fields, but farmers are. It's something they do in the early dawn and evenings in those countries to escape the days stiffling heat. But the gunship's crew didn't know that, and misread what they saw. Three men are dead...a father and his son, the third was a relative...all three were farmers.
