To those ole' heads who say we were not good, let me say this.....holla at me on a drum and I will make you famous. I was not the best, but the people that taught me; ( Kirk House, Titus Ross, Chivas Ross, J-Weezy, Juan West and Dr. T.), they made me who I am as a percussionist today. And they don't raise no trash. Stop putting the section down and start uplifting. We are not in the business of putting people down, we are here build honor and uplift mankind. Continue....
Continuing.....We were a family and we all love each other and we had a drive that year to attack and kill every section that got in our way. We proved there could be unity in numbers and we proved that week in and week out. That year we were soo good, Dr. T our drum instructor let the drum section lead the band into the Cotton Bowl. From what I have been told about Chocolate Thunder's wonderful history, that had not been done only but once or twice. We made a statement and it was heard....
Hello to all. I must say that year was a great year for the GSU Drum Section. We WAXXED many of the sections we came across that year. I was in the Bass Drum Section (CROWD CONTROL Fall 01') and I must say, that was the most intense year playing. Let me say this, everybody has an opinion about what a section should be like or how it should sound. That year we stopped all of the talking and just let our DRUMS talk for us. We didn't care if you like us or hated us, we were and SECTION..next
And if you or anyone else on this earth feels as if their so great or gods gift to percussion shutup and challenge thats how it was done in the past thats how u got respect .......section and individual. Stop hiding behind ur screen and keyboard and do something.

Explain how the name chocolate thunder is offensive..vanilla wafers sounds more offensive than chocolate thunder..that was just the name of the section..Grambling is historically a black school but when I was there in the band we had white band members who didn't have a problem with the section's name.

Coming from a mostly corp background, i usually dislike this stuff from how dirty it sounds. This group is the cleanest i've heard so far on YouTube, and it makes me happy. I can tell it's not a stereotypical lively show band thing, but if you just listen, it has it's own energy in the rhythm.

This was typical old school Grambling. Classy, nice presentation, precision, & not to loud. This show reminded me of the Gram drum section of the late 80's.
@bethklice Steal away, but the Pride of the South was founded in the 1920's and the Pride of the Southland was founded in the 1800's. Ole Miss (the university)was not established until the 1800's while the University of TN was founded in the late 1700's. But way to be a Rebel!!! :)
