Wouldn't it be wiser for all to slow down at roundabouts, instead of of accelerating, since there is a higher probability of congestion to occur there? Just sayin'.
I RIDE A BIKE IN TRAFFIC TOO BUT I DON'T LOSE IT WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENS, WHICH IS ALMOST DAILY.MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I KNEW WHAT I WAS IN FOR WHEN I DECIDED TO RIDE A BICYCLE IN TRAFFIC. PLUS I EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN SO I RARELY GET CAUGHT OFF GUARD.
WHAT I HATE THE WORST THOUGH ARE THE ONES THAT WANT TO CREEP ALONG BEHIND YOU... LIKE THAT IS A GOOD IDEA.
No, I say "Stupid woman" if it's a woman... which seems reasonable. Not sure why I don't use more expletives like I tend to do when it's a man though...
I don't want to argue, and i know you state the roundabout is clear, but why accelerate to ride through it? Surely any road user should slow down, 'just in case'
I accelerate to get up to my cruising speed and also so I am not holding any other drivers up unnecessarily... I have been overtaken under the Motorway bridge there before and was accused of slowing traffic down (which I wasn't) which "forced" the overtake.
I can clearly see traffic for which I need to give way (from straight on, turning right across me), so no harm in accelerating.
@sh4rkybloke The emerging car is clearly visible at 0.16 into the vid. at the point where you admit to accellerating. As an experienced motorcyclist I would have thought you would have anticipated the possibility that the car driver would not see you and cut you up. Just a thought.............
She was too busy ensuring that her cigarette wasn't blowing ash into her precious car to bother looking.
It's usually a useful roundabout as it keeps traffic moving fairly well... but I have had a couple (three so far, in fact) of moments there over the last few months. All part of the joy of commuting though, eh? :-)
SMIDGAF. The sun is to the rear-left so visibility should have been good. SMIDGAF for certain

I wouldn't have braked. I would've swerved around her to make it clearer that I was there. Still...

She was in the wrong, regardless of how wast he crossed the round about. She has to give way.
I actually find the faster you are going (keeping up with other motorists) is better as then they arent as in as much need to overtake.

@wazztie16 In case of what? Another selfish idiot in a car who thinks that it's okay because it's ONLY a bicycle?

She's not insured.
Unsurprisingly.
WheelyGoodFun 2 years ago
Really? Is that information gathered using a certain internet resource?
Hmmm, perhaps the Police would like to see her at the wheel and, if she is uninsured, pop round for a chat about her whole driving ethos.

It's listed on the MID now, you need to check it after 7 days a second time (insurers have to list you within 7 days).

You have a lot of problems at those mini roundabouts . I find people are often confused by them.
jonredhornet 2 years ago
Yeah, but how, what's confusing about giving way to traffic from the right, he didn't bother looking.
