Players who deliberately hurt other players don't belong in hockey, they should have their own weird "sport" where they beat each other as much as they want and leave people with talent to play hockey. Though I'm a lifelong Penguins fan, I've always hated Samuelsson, even when he was with them. Being a pest and bugging your opponents is a hockey role I understand, but not cheap shot retards with huge visors like Ulf.

In todays game, I agree with you that fighters dont win games, but you are obviously not a student of the game if you dont realize the impact that a fighter had on a game 20 years ago. A team could be down 3-0 and send out their goon to start a fight and absolutely change the netire momentum of a game. Watch Flers and Bruins highlights from the 70's and you just might understand the part that fighters played in a game that was much more entertaining than the crap we see today.

The hockey has evolved, its faster, tighter and more tactical today, old memories are just not the same even if one would like to think so

Just these past 10 years hockey has become faster, more tactical and with the rules today its even harder for a defenceman. I was too young to appreciate Orr, because I was literally a toddler when I saw him play live. Looking at what players accomplished, and seeing almost EVERY game that Bourque and Lidstrom played throughout their careers, I can honestly form an unbiased intellectual opinion. Ray was better. To show that I'm not "biased" People who would argue that Paul Coffey was even in Lidstrom's league, I would LAUGH at. There are plenty of Oiler fans who would do so!

The only thing Coffey did better than Bourque or Lidstrom was he was a faster skater. That's it! He was not good in his own end, couldn't clear players from in front of the net, and the reason why he had so many goals is because he often played left wing on the power play! Playing a winger on Gretzky's line could turn the worst player in the league into an instant 30 goal scorer! You can look up Paul Coffey's Edmonton Oiler Legends page and even Paul's own page acknowledges he was a tier below!

On defense, I'd put Lidstrom with Chara (I chose Chara over Pronger and others because he is such a physical presence and has great range)
In goal, I'd have to put Osgood in net with Brodeur as a back up. I picked Brodeur as a back up because of his high save% (better than Osgoods) and his clutch postseason experience)
Crosby at C with Ovechkin on LW and Marian Hossa at RW. My second line Would be Thornton at C with Heatley at LW and Iginla at RW
