@xiiska she died because someone finally believed in her, Sayid [as its a reoccuring theme that the ppl die once they find themselves....the lesser role characters such as Mr. Eko, Boone, Libby(finds love again w/ Hurley after her husband cheats on her, and she enters the Mental Ward)]. But in the jungle on LOST, Ana Lucia heard the whispers and shot Shannon thinking she was one of the OTHERS.

@xiiska well in the reoccuring theme that ppl die once they find themselves like before I was saying. Boone finally let go of Shannon (he felt he must rescue & protect her, because he was in love with her). Locke gave Boone the experience of Shannon dying(knocked him head, and applied the paste that drugged him), and Boone felt relieved of Shannon being gone. Locke says to Boone that he can finally begin his work "Hatch", because of letting Shannon go. He dies a episode or two later.
