  • Ok so I read the comments before watching this video because I was waiting for it to load. But I'm kinda shocked by somethings that were said after seeing her video. A lot of people who posted comments, not all, are rather rude. Everyone has their own opinions and this is her's. You may agree and you may not but no need to say some of the stuff you did.

  • If this dumb dumb chick, ever saw or meets draculain the flesh ,she will shit a brick,ah ah ah. One day she will meet the blood sucker dracula in hell.Is a wacko or what!?

  • And I really have nothing to say about YOUR taste in music.

Everyone likes their own music and you can't strip that away from them, just because it isn't goth.

  • And there are no rules for a style. You can't define one person by merely saying, 'you are goth and you must obey the goth rules.'

If you ask me, every goth I know are rule-free. Stop just putting down YOUR rules.

You aren't the queen of the goths.

  • Look, in your latest video your hair is partially dyed blue. And I'm pretty sure you don't wear black all the time. Please, stop doing this.

Not to be mean, but saying new-comer goths are, 'posers' is not necessary at all.

Please think these video topics through well, because you aren't getting many followers/subscribers. And if you want to, then I suggest you think about your videos for a long time. Then when you have decided your words, make the video.

  • we shouldn't waste time about posers, there sre a lot of different styles of goth, but you can still be goth either way. And what if you're falsly accusing baby-bats for posers?

  • What if the 'posers' are baby bats? New goths that don't really know what to do, or their parents just aren't all that accepting so they can't really dress all out. Someone doesn't just automatically know how to be goth just like that, it takes a bit of time and educating.

  • I don't really agree with this video. I'm goth, and I don't want someone accusing me of being a poseur 'cause I know barely anything at all about Bauhaus, The Cure, etc. I listen to Evanescence and Mozart. Also, just because you don't wear black all the time, doesn't mean you're not goth. Seriously guys, get an education.

  • @ourlittlemissginny I'm goth and I agree. =)

  • The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole, which was written in 1764, is considered the first Gothic novel.

  • thanks for being one of the first goth people to totally bash out.

im not goth but i do like some aspects of it (only very small things)

i KNOW im really really not gothic but some people still claim im wanna be goth

  • London After Midnight <3

  • i have a friend who is a goth poser, she wears bright colored chlothes, listenss to pop music, hates reading, and thinks goth is just someone who wears all black, yet she doesnt wear black and says she is goth

  • I must say, Bauhaus is okay if you are into them, but they were decades ago and for some reason people seem to get hung up on the idea that they are the only band that defines Gothism. For me, freedom is Gothism and freedom means I might listen to classical on one day, metal the next, and symphony after that. Rules? What rules? I make my own rules.

  • I'd hate to correct you but The cure is much to dark and gloomy to be considered emo. Thier actually more indie/punk than goth though, an actual emo band is Jimmy eat world and there nothing like the cure in style and sound.

  • Comment removed

  • This comment is irrelevant to your video, but I love your crazy hair. It reminds me of Robert Smith's.

  • I'm a new Goth a few days ago. I admit I am not fully in the culture but I am trying and doing research. Listening to Gothic music. I think soon I will be probably in the Gothic culture.

  • Why does no one get it?? It's POSEUR. not poser :/ sorry it just bothers me so much -.- :L a poser is someone who stands in the mirror talking pictures and a poseur is someone who tries to be something their not/is part of something but does not know what it is about.

  • It's kind of hard to know if you're possibly a poser or get someone to educated you if you seem to be the only one affiliated with the goth culture at your school

  • i hate all these limitations

why try to limit yourself and others?

    its al so strict

    I don't care if I want to wear a band shit of a band I don't know

    just do what you want!

  • well there actually doesn't have to be a connection between the clothes you are wearing and the music you are listening to. maybe you are only fascinated by the fashion and the atmosphere or something - but find no interest in the music (and maybe the litterature or something). i mean think about it. how many people in the music industry doesn't wear black on black, studs, leather, s&m outfits and sing crappy house-pop or something. it's just whats in fashion right now.

  • @gtyrsie2 there was a connection between the music and fashion in old days. like 50's teddyboys, 70's punk, 80's synth and goth and the 90's grunge. however that's not the case anymore. its the black and occult thats fashionable now. i even see hipsterbands using black metal symbolism in their videos.

  • @gtyrsie2 and yeah i think it's sad that you can no longer express your personality and your interests by the clothes you are wearing, but that's how it is. i adore metal, heavy rock and hardcore punk and i also like high heels, floral dresses, long wavy hair and tanned skin.

  • i love how people automatically think goth's need to wear black.

um. no. that's not how it works. i have my own style; like ofherbsandaltars said, a bit of steampunk, cyber, whatever.

  • AGREED! I love Goth Culture and I like to submerse myself in it but I'm not actually Goth and I don't claim to be Goth I'm just an intellectual that enjoys the depth and poetry that the Goth culture offers and I hangout with a lot of real Goths and stuff but I always get called a "poser" which i am not because I don't even claim to be Goth and I don't go around writting lables on myself but eh so what It don't bother me.

  • I think it's just so anoying how arrogant and god complex-like goths acts, even though they claim not to. It's 'all about te Goth culture. I am not a Goth, aperantly. I dress Goth, listen tot the music but the whole socalled 'Goth lifestyle' it is a bit sad. Although they say: 'We don't see ourselves different than other people,' they still seem to look down on everyone.

Also: I hate the term babybat. It sounds a lot like the "more gothic than thou". Derp.

Sorry girl, stop trying so hard!!

  • I like that what was said doesn't just apply to goth culture but to any other subgenre and subculture.

  • Comment removed

  • Sooooo ppl could say "I wear goth/punk/emo/whatever clothes" or something of that nature if they really don't know the history of the cultures?

Ppl always ask me if I'm emo or goth n I usually say I just like their clothing style...

  • @halleyhaywirez. um im pretty sure asking alexandria isnt goth lol

  • Woo, mad props to the Lady of the Manners. She's such a doll. ^_^

  • Happy Samhain!!!!!!!

  • The Castle of Otranto

  • WOW! Your so insightful!! Your comment "because they want to fit in." could easily be misunderstood to what you are doing, but I can tell, you are totally authentic.

I sure wish you were around to consult back in 1984...good luck with all your vast knowledge.

  • @thoughtless01ya No, Evanescence doesn't count as Goth. It's considered a Rock band.

  • I don't think this is fair, yeah we should know about the music, books etc, but we shouldn't HAVE to like all the same things as other goths, we should just be our own gothy selves and like what we like, there's no rule of "you're a goth cause you like this" or "you're not a goth cause you don't like this"

  • @xxHeadbanginRockerxx She's not saying that a person who claims to be a goth should like everything that's gothic. what's she's saying is that if you are going to label yourself a goth, then you should respect the background, culture, etc. And yes, it does help to at least like SOME gothic things, otherwise, what's the point in calling yourself a goth? you can't just say you're a goth and not like anything that's gothic. You have to have some reasonable limit there.

  • When i say my parents were"goth" i only mentioned this when i was asked if my parents let me be "goth" .. my only point was to suggest y my parents support my expresion and dress.... never to suggest i was ment to be a "goth" the lable itself tends to bother me and others...

  • NO BAUHAUS/CURE

    GTFO

  • In highschool, I didn't have goth friends...I had 'fans.' These kids crowded around me like I was Jesus, to enforce their 'goth cred.' I don't mind nurturing the baby bats, but it's very difficult to do so when said baby bats assume they are the gothy-est thing since Andrew Eldritchs sun glasses, while running around in outfits made from 100% Tripp.

  • who would be the most depressing If you were to choose out of Goths/Emos/scenes which would it be?

  • @aninutter101 I agree with you as well, I mean I hate Bauhaus but that's because of the way it sounds, I'm more into black metal doom metal symphony metal and aggrotech but I'm not gonna tell a goth you have to listen to so an so to be like this...... That's BS excuse my language but it is....... There's a whole variety of different goth music ranging in all sounds to suit a person, not just one type you have to listen to, to be like another goth person...........(=^.^=)

  • @unlovelyxromance I agree with you I dress like this but I hate it when people label me I mean I am a goth but I hate being labeled. I think people who label themselves are not exactly educated as well I mean I thought we are all unique, all goths arnt goths there themselves, can't people just get passed being a title or a label just to fit in..... I know it's about the culture but I rather say I'm not goth I'm me that's what I am a me.... Idk (@_@)

  • i agree with alot of this but the music part. in my oppinion goth is a way of how you live your life. i dont listen to conventunally "goth" bands and i may dress scene alot of times but im goth too. really wish there were more places for gothic clothing where i live and there are like NO goths here!!!!!!!

  • What does it mean to dress goth or look goth? I wish to know only because people seem to mix up all the "labels." Such as, scene girls apparently all tease their hair as well , even though goths have obviously been around longer but I really think people get confused and call themselves something, even if they do not know as much about it. Honestly, I think people should just dress how they want& say fuck labels, but that is just me..

  • you are just such a sweet person.

  • The whole goth music thing kills me because I can't stand Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, or The Cure, I can't help it....just ugh..

    <3 Jilian Venters :3

  • @aninutter101 I agree with this.

  • Link good goth sites. I like these bands are they goth" project pitch fork, bauhaus, clan of xymox, cruxshadows, front line assembly, stuff like that.

  • You are awesome. I like some goth music (and some that definitely is not, haha.), dress goth, wear goth make up, and have knowledge of the culture. I can be a bit hyper, and (sadly) I can get bitchy, but it is usually when I've had a rough day.I am usually a very nice person. I would still consider myself a babybat, though. I have a lot to learn still. :)

  • Were you thinking of the book "The Castle of Otranto" By Horace Walpole? Fantastic video by the way. I'm subscribing

  • I'm curious, I don't consider myself goth but I love the fashion so I dress it. But when people ask if I'm goth I tell them I'm not, am I still a poser if I love the art style and fashion?

  • @Areekurou Nope, that just means that you're you, and you like what you like! I had this problem, too. People wouldn't give me a rest about it, until I finally got tired of them and just blurted out 'yes! wtf ever! sure, im goth!' they took it well, but i wish i hadnt said it, cuz I don't like labels very much.

  • @Areekurou no way,u can dress how ever u want its ok to dress goth and not be goth. there are lots of goth that dont wear black or have studded sleves or what not. its manly a lifestyle, i mean yeah fashion and music is part of it but not the main thing. Im goth as well but i cant afford the clothing cuz its SO DAMN EXPESSIVE!! but people are going to call u a poser no matter what best thing is to let it go threw one ear out the other, dont change just cuz someone is being an idiot.

  • You had a big hill to fight up from the get go of this video, but you did it

  • @TheInversionTheory That's exactly the point I was trying to meet ends at.

  • @TheInversionTheory No one does that, unless they want to get their ass kicked. There are different people at different concerts all the time. That isn't the point, the point is you need to know what something is about before claiming to be it.

  • i may not be goth myself but i really admire the subculture and i sometimes wanted to be goth myself ^_^ ! ! ! ! !

  • i like bauhaus. :D i am an interesting type of goth cuz i also like some things as mundane as pink floyd or beatles. To me, goth is a state of mind before it is a fashion.

  • @TheInversionTheory Well yes, I love electronic and 80's Goth music. I'm not going to limit myself to set rules but she's not encouraging that. You see this girl is just saying it's hard to deal with uneducated people who claim to be something they know nothing of or are actually not. That makes everything harder to deal with. It's a little embarrassing too. I hate it when I'm like yeah I'm a metahead, so what do you listen to, Slipknot, omg they're sooo br00t4l! (I'm sick of that!)

  • @TheInversionTheory Well there is actually a metalhead scene. I'm saying we're all scene kids. Haha! I'm just saying every culture has it's scene. It's place where we can come together and unite. When I go into the metal scene I great my "brothers" and "sisters". See what I'm saying?

  • See ive done research and i know alot about the history of goth and music and all that but i dont look it sometimes :P

  • im so confused about myself sometimes i like SOO MANY different things that fit into different subcultures, like somedays i wanna be cute and colorful and others i feel like doing dark makeup and dark lips, i love the goth look and its something that i really enjoy being a part of but my inner cute brightness wants to come out and i change alot :P

  • @KattyChatty5 You can be a perky Goth.

  • @4evrpeace1 Goth can be girly. Girly isn't a color. Just work with what you have. Educate her and explain to her what you're doing is fine. It's not involved in religion, evil, and will not hurt anyone. You're only doing it for your enjoyment. You don't have to dye your hair to be Goth. It's about the music, the art, and the culture. Use light concealer you can purchase from the store. (like loreal, don't use something cheap that will make you break out).

  • @TheInversionTheory Everyone conforms, you can't escape conformity so why not embrace something you enjoy the best instead of conforming in a harmful way?

  • @TheInversionTheory Usually a Goth is someone who tends to fall under a few stereotypes. (sorry but that is what a subculture is made of) If they enjoy their subculture than why not? Some of us just so happen to like the music, aesthetics, ect. It does not mean they limit themselves to just that. But in order to not be a poseur you need to recognize what is real and what is just attention seeking garbage. It's like being a Metalhead, you would call yourself a metalhead because you like the music.

  • There's a fine line between the uneducated who are learning (usually babybats), and poseurs, sometimes it's hard to tell.

  • @TheInversionTheory Well yes, you could do all those things, if you wanted to be an annoying pretentious fuck, who believes yourself to be way smarter and unique than you actually are.

  • ...if its ok for them to assume any band can be goth depending on someones opinion, does that mean I could say Britney Spears is hardcore punk because that just happens to be my opinion?

Well of course not....I was just using that as en example.

  • I really hate that whole band thing. Especially when you ask them what bands they like and they list a load of death metal or grindcore bands, and when you inform them that those bands arnt actually goth and then maybe show them some Joy Division or Specimen etc etc, they get really really pissed off like you have somehow said something deeply offensive. Or they say something like "well that's just your opinion." Thats actually quite confusing to me to be honest....

  • Hmm I kinda dont agree with ya on some of the stuff. I see my self as a Mixture of Punk and Goth , but i guess i understand the meaning behind the word. Being a Goth is not about just wearing dark clothes or listening to some particular stuff . I guess it is more about being different and having pride in it. I cannot wear Gothic clothes due to my office life and all , but i do listen to Gothic bands and others as well along with my love for dark colors. I hope i am not being rude here !?

  • your so awesome your nicer then anyone i know thank you for letting my know about what goth is :) ty p.s your channel is awesome that's why i subscribed you :)

  • The book title that you can't remeber is The Castle of Otranto. Greetings from Italy ^-^

  • i wear black and dye my hair black and people tell me i'm goth, but i'm not. what's the point of labels? they shouldn't exist because you can be you and be friends with whoever and listen to any music you want.

  • Ugh. This is ridiculous. People like you talk about goth being so non conformist, and THEN you say that everyone goth has to have a standard knowledge, read and listen to exactly the same things. That is the absolute pinnacle of conformity, you are being a lemming. Also, pretentious goths just put off newcomers to the scene and eventually limit the flow of fresh blood, eventually strangling the local scene to a few old farts.

  • @ofherbsandaltars No one is talking about conformity and nonconformity. Being in any scene makes you conformist to some degree. We all conform.

  • @metaldorksforever666 Definitely everyone conforms to a degree, I just think that the best educated goths break OUT of the generic mode that this video seems to encourage. Goth is in part about open mindedness, and people should listen to more music than is Goth 101, and read more literature too. If someone asks me what music I'm into, I'm more likely to mention the quirky things (Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Lil Jon..) than reel off the same dull list of generic goth...

  • @ofherbsandaltars Yeah, she's not saying to be a generic Goth. She's just saying that you should be WELL educated before claiming to be part of a subculture. It's like waking up one day and saying I'm steampunk when I know NOTHING about it. (In reality I do know about it, I'm just giving an example). It's stupid to just wake up and claim something without the facts to back yourself up. I was like that at one time, I was a babybat. So it can be aggravating to deal with them.

  • Goth is a fashion it doesnt have to define who you are(it can if you want it to) i am 20 years old and kids at like 15 are dressing how i used to dress at their age i was an original mosher (british will know) before that there was trogs in the 70s i like goth style i make most of my own stuff things i cant make i buy but i then add to it to make it my own. i like cradle of filth but that doesnt mean i dont like bands like fall out boy. You dress how you want not by what genre you're put in.

  • @Oncloudnine777 Goth is mainly NOT fashion. It's a music based subculture.

  • @BatcaveDilemma random question, are you straight?

  • I'm a bit of everything. I dont think I could ever stick to one stereotype (although I do not class Goth as a stereotype), I love gothic music, metal, rock, screamo, etc.. I also like rap, hip-hop, soul, classical, gahhh i like everything. I love ''Emo'' clothes. I love ''Scene'' clothes. I have a very messed up wardrobe xD! And my overall view on life is fairness, and achieving the best possible standard or fairness in my life. This is how I choose to live, and I love it!<3

  • I'm a goth, my friends irritate me sometimes by copying everything i do, i buy a spike choker-they di next day, black lip stick- they do. Sometimes it gets pretty annoying and everyone around my school starts calling me a poser........

    Thanks for the video!!!!

  • ugh. they piss me off. id rather not deal with them

  • I'm not Goth, I'm more, Emo/Scene but I love your videos! ^.^ <3<3

  • i'm not goth but, i sometimes dress like it..would that make me a poser? \:

( i rlly admire goth's and the way they dress ect... ) i admit idk a lot about the goth culture itself though ._.

  • There thiis girl whoms into the punk scene I know and I talk about goth music with her like and babybats and I was like bauhaus. Sisters of mercy, christina death, sex gang children and she said "dude wtf none of those bands are goth, goth people didn't even exist in that time, you obviously know shit, marilyn manson and asking alexandria are pretty hard and if they can sit and listen to that there pretty goth, you have a way diffrent perspective of goth then me" I'm just sitting there like ._.

  • @HalleyHaywirez Or is the term 'goth' simply becoming more fluid? For sure I agree someone claiming 'goth' should know what a REAL goth band is and have listened to some, but you can't expect goth subctulture to survive if NO new bands are accepted, people in 20 years time can't be expected to listen to 80s music contasntly. But I agree this girl needs some education on musical style differentiation!

  • @ofherbsandaltars She didn't say she couldn't have musical differentiation. She listen to Modest Mouse (they're not Goth related AT ALL). She is just saying that Goth is a music based subculture so you can't really be a Goth without knowing and understanding the original music and meaning. In the same terms I listen to some of the best and original metal bands (metalhead). I also listen to other genres too. She's not encouraging limitations, just proper knowledge.

  • @metaldorksforever666 to be fair the beginning pissed me off so much I didn;t want to the end, but not got all the facts. I just don't think goths should be so pretentious, let people be who they wanna be, and if goth is a phase for them, whatever. Actually, the top comment on this video sums up everything I'm getting at and has like 25 thumbsup, so I'm not the only one thinking this...

  • @ofherbsandaltars Well the top commenter didn't even understand the video and niether did most of you. A poseur is someone without proper education assuming they are something and asserting the name without knowing what it actually is. That's ignorant.

  • @metaldorksforever666 Sure, there ARE ignorant posers out there, but I think one should either just shrug it off or try to educate them. Ignorance is simple a lack of knowledge, that can be rectified, but being a pretentious twat takes some curing. There is a REASON that the whole 'what is goth' subject makes all goths roll their eyes - it's a very wide label and everyone mixes their own style (bit of cyber, rivethead, steampunk, whatever), and that's how it SHOULD be.

  • @ofherbsandaltars I'm not arguing about diversity, just simply education.

  • @ofherbsandaltars Actually nobody MUST educate them because REAL goths aren't educated it's in their nature to search for thinks the feel like!

  • I like your videos, even though I am not goth myself, I am finding that allot of what you say can apply to Goth's close cousin Metal

  • a poser is someone who wants to be, and not actually is what he wants to be.

  • The castle of Otranto is that the book you where talking about?

  • Just saw all the way to the end and I have just one thing to disagree with.

I do believe that you can be "born goth." I have a really dear friend whose parents

were both goth he had his little black skull blankie in his crib. Most weren't born goth

but, there are the few that definitely were. Like my friend Avarice. There is the whole generation from the eighties who are now grown up and having babies some of those babies are goth and now they're teenagers and young adults. :)

  • Wow! You're so well spoken. Love your videos. <3

  • Goth is such a broad spectrum, I am "goth" whether I would call myself that or not but I listen to ALL music, I work at a gothy store but I run a search and rescue dog I am outside always I really think it is silly to say someone is "not [insert random subculture here]" true there are a lot of people who are "goth" when it is convenient but I have a lot of friends who do not look the part but are, and who look the part but listen to pop. I respect people as people I guess, not by the stereotype

  • You who say someone is Goth by what they wear. You're DEAD WRONG.

  • I don't read, so.... But my GOD I LOVE your videos!!! And yeah, emo and goth get mixed a lot. Everyone at my school think they're the same things.

  • I'm not goth or anything but, you speak words of wisdom. I will everyone at my school watched this video. And hopefully they wouldnt be so quick to judge.

  • btw, the first gothic novel is "the castle of ontranto" by horace walpole : )

  • A good book to read to inform youself on the gothic subculture is The Goth Bible by Nancy Kilpatric.

  • You are such a cutie, and you are so sweet and YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!

But, being Goth isn't conforming to a certain criteria. Posers aren't people who have failed to get a 100% on their how to be goth quiz's.

  • Ohmygosh! Your adorable-3

  • The Cure is my favorite band too :)

Although someone can still identify as goth and listen to different types of music. And I've found some nice Gothic clothing in large chain department stores, it isn't where you buy your clothing but what kind of clothing you wear that defines a person as goth.

  • I was once a poser goth, so I started being myself. Then people started calling me goth, no matter how many times I've told them I wasn't. Now I'm in college, and my high school will always remember me as the high school goth. -.-

  • OMG you need to read Oh My Goth!

  • i want to hang out with u ur awesome XD

  • I'm not sure I understand this. Are you saying to be a goth you have to love / read / wear / be / say only certain things or you are a poser? Am I hearing this correctly? In order to be a goth you have to fit a certain criteria of likes and dislikes? I mean this just seems silly, I have to like this band and read this book or I am just a poser? I mean no offence by this, but it just seems silly? I am genuinely just trying to understand your point of view.

  • I love your hair btw!

  • @4evrpeace1 People can and they should be able to listen to whatever they want, tell her not to pay attention to what others think of her as they are ignorant. Personally I love everything from Biffy Clyro to Cradle Of Filth and I have been labelled as emo before although i'm nothing of the sort. I'm just me tbh. I think people who feel the same should be respected for this and not be judged by others in the same subculture as them. THEY are the posers this girl is talking about!

  • What exactly is a goth poser? I have no sound right now( volume jacked up)

  • Did u say non goth people like Bauhaus ?

  • you have such a lovely voice

  • Comment removed

  • @AndreeaBackStab

    You're so unbelievably false.

  • @AndreeaBackStab I apologize, but you need some enlightenment. There is a different between "labels" and "stereotypes". Stereotypes can be bad when someone negatively judges a group or one individual because of how they look or by something they are interested in. Labels are everywhere and are with everything. Female, male, human, cat, are all technically labels, it is how we identify and explain the things we see. You can't get rid of "labels".

  • @AndreeaBackStab Also, "goth music" does exist, it's a GENRE. Yes, there is "Gothic" architecture, but it is different from the term "goth" that is associated with music and people. "Gothic" is and aesthetic term, the "label" goth, derived from that adjective and was given, originally by the media, to those who looked like they fit into that aesthetic. The music is a major part in the scene, but I don't think really need to explain that, I think it's pretty obvious how it got it's name.

  • i don't think you should teach them right away, i think you should talk to them and convince them that if this is not them that they are simply in a phase. also the goth charms school is a book, and not actually something most of the Gothic people i know and have knows read or even own. this is like some of the jabs Voltaire takes about the funny crap that has gone on. his book seems a little better. some might be baby bats. and some are just afraid to be lumped with Emo, an old bat

    D, ,

  • I love your voice:)

It's really unique and I love your videos too:) please make more!!!!

  • one: i love that this was made on Halloween.

two: this is true on all levels of every group, subculture or not.

three: still love you, your videos and everything else.

  • Just out of curiosity, what is your opinion/view on other styles of goth? I often hear classic goths talking about the culture in terms of literature and music (like Siouxie and the Banshees) and if you are not into those you aren't a goth, but many industrial goths are still considered goth by many but have no interest in the origins of goth. Could you make a video on the other styles of goth, and your opinion on them? I'd love to see/learn about it! I've always been confused in this area.

  • @warmheartedkiller (just to add) Not to say that all industrial goths don't care about the origins of the original movement, I was just using it as an example, but it almost seems like a completely different culture all together.

  • i don't dress goth.simply because i cant do that round here, its not america. i would not define myself as goth because i enjoy variety of metal genres. that doesn't deny the fact that i adore goth, and everything about it, and the music.. i just dont fit into any label because i change on time basis. and yes the cure is not goth..but i love it because it has something strange and really awkward, cannot describe it..especially album seventy seconds, faith and pornography..

  • i love you

  • Comment removed

  • i love listening to your videos because you are so sweet and very intelligent and articulate

  • Siiiigh....this is why I had trouble being a goth. Too many people who think they have to right to say what's goth and what isn't. Just let people live...

  • There seems to be a lot of opinion on what is goth. Goth to me really started with music. Based on Music, yes, I am a goth, but does it mean that goth music defines me entirely. I appreciate lots of bands in many genres. Literature wise I like to read things with a darker edge. I like to wear black. I don't dress much like some goths simply for lack of finding appropriately fitting clothing. I wear what I want. I have an appreciation for the macabre and macabre aesthetics. I am me above all.

  • I tend to consider posers people who consider themselves part of a subculture only when in fashion (like there was a whole emo and scene trend) and/or when around people of that subculture. I knew a girl that depending who she was around was emo, scene, goth or urban/hip-hop.

  • everyone has his/her own style, everyone dresses their own way.I realy like dressing in dark clothes with a t-shirt with a band on it and wear a long coat with boots.Jeans with a chain on them and a spiked bracelet.but that dosent make me goth or black metal.Posers are those who try to look like someone but dont have their own taste so they try to look like:Goth,Emos,Metals,Black metals,Trashers etc.The poser is someone who tries to look like someone else.

  • @questar123456 Well in reality. A poseur is anyone who claims to be something without knowing the history. I am considerably black metal (female) and I dress in Gothic aesthetics sometimes because I like the way it looks. I know about the history and I like the music too (so and so forth) but I am not going to call myself a Goth because I'm just not.

  • Is disco techno goth?

  • Thank you for pointing out reality^^

  • Your vocabulary is deeply attractive.

  • You have such a beautiful smile.

  • this chick is hot

  • You're so eloquent and sweet. x

  • I haven't been goth since I was born. Yes I liked gothy things at a young(6-7) age(who hasn't). But I wouldn't say I was goth or a baby bat for I at that time didn't know that they were goth. I lived next door to a girl had been goth and that's where my interest started. To this day I think I'm still a baby bat and proud

  • Please do make a video of your Baby Bat stage. XD

  • @dashorainbow i am the BIGGEST BABY BAT UP IN HERE

    DAMN THIS COMMENT IS FANCY!

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

  • @skillonthem

HAIR DONE NAILS DONE ERRYTHAN BIG OH YOU FANCY HUH

  • I've met several of those. v.v Which is why I'm a loner goth...

  • These posuer's may think they know everything about the culture, when they really don't, that's the thing. But I do indeed agree with you.

  • I'm not Goth either, I just love her! She's so cute!

  • I love how i always watch your videos and im not really goth XD

  • I love how you dealt with this issue. You're so tolerant, nice and understanding. Some goth bloggers upload videos hating on baby bats and posers and I don't think that's the right attitude at all. Intolerant goths make me embarrassed..

  • Tired of seeing people "Go as goth for halloween."

  • @PatchouIi God I so agree with you..

  • @PatchouIi OH I KNOW when i was in 7th grade i know excactly who did this wasnty my freind but i asked what are you for halloween? he said *oh im a goth* and i thought to myself: ok 1. Goth's are not...a mystical creature not a monster. 2. there real people and theyere AWSOME people at that. 3. thats the best you can come up with? people are goth everyday. but i didint say anything i just said *ok.* yeah

  • This is what i hate about my school; Everyone gets their information about stereotypes. People think i'm always depressed and such. The only other people who look goth are posers. Thanks for this video

  • Old staple "Goth" bands aren't even the best of the Post-Punk bands in my opinion. I'd rather turn people onto The Names, Sad Lovers and Giants, Asylum Party, Public Image Ltd., For Against, The Sound, and The Chameleons. I personally wouldn't have a problem with calling myself a Goth or a Goth poser, these days I am more inclined to think of myself as a Brothic Rippedster.

  • Very - tasteful - way of handling this issue. I sometimes get frusterated with TOO much "tolerance" so to speak, but also with judgers. Thank you so much. ;)

BTW... I LOVE the point you made about EDUCATION!!! ^_^ luvluvluv that book!

  • Castle of Otranto. excellent book. got one of the first editions- a very old book from England:)

  • Could you refer to some places to educate yourself about the culture?

  • i could kiss you for mentioning sowen
