NO!!!! the thanks goes to you for sharing. when we are down and out we depend on people like you to TRY to save us or our loved ones. i have 3 neighbors who do just that. at the drop of a hat they desert their families and save live (if at all possible). one guy who built a house for us is now flying as a chopper nurse which is VERY dangerous to save lives. i can not say enough GOOD about them and YOU. thanks.
i still say it was a very good video of how really talented people prepare to not only sustain themselves but help those in distress. was and still am a fan of the CAP which means the volunteer pilots and support personnel who give their time and resources to help. thanks.
u reckon what? i had put up a bleach bottle with water in it. last week. i was going to the dentist and NO water to brush my tooth; yep a redneck. i live n a "city" and had diarrhoea? {shits) for several days after. thankfully i had done what the dutchsinse stupid people suggested. i saved water in bleach bottles. still had the runs but had water to drink. it was bad shits but what if it was off more than 4 hours?
i stumbled on ur vid and REALLY enjoyed it. the gear and food situation has really improved since i was at ft. polk in 1969. i hope u are on the rescue if i ever get in a bad place. i would like to see anyone who is young healthy and can get in to do like u.
I've heard about your Frostbite Exercise. I created a similar exercise called WINTEX that lasted 5 years in a row. 3 days, 2 nights during holiday break. Great training! Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.
Considering joining CAP. Would the Medium Alice Pack be suffice and able to be rigged up for both a 24hr and 72hr pack for CAP?? Would save me from having to move gear back and fourth from my smaller hiking pack to a bigger pack. Would be easier to have one pack for CAP that i can utilize for both 24hr and 72hr.
The medium would work. However the purpose of the 24/72 hour gear is that you always carry your 24 hour gear. The 72 hour gear you leave at basecamp. So its easier to have a smaller day pack or LBE system for your 24 hour gear and leave the 72 hr gear in the larger pack. So you dont have to lug the whole thing around.
Go to the CAP website, go under Emergency Services, find training and look for the Ground Team Reference Text and Guide. That will have a list of all of the "required" items and some other recommended items.
If you want a backpack, then there is nothing wrong with the Medium Alice pack shown in this video. Or a good sturdy school backpack works well. Remember if its just your 24 hour gear then a small school pack should work fine.
Check ebay and google military surplus stores online. There are numerous places online that sell them anywhere from $15.00 up. One in good condition with frame will probably cost less than $50.
Hey im in CAP too.(5-6 years) We just had a SAREX. Nice Load out. For a weekend, i just bring 2 MREs and a few small things. quite honestly i try and compact as much of my kit as possible. and of course, i will modify my load out based on weather conditions, like summer or winter.

is frostbite like a sarex or do they let the whole squadron join in
roguesqadronairsoft 7 months ago
@roguesqadronairsoft
Frostbite is a State wide SAREX. The whole squadron can go provided you completed the GES test and the Prereqs on your SQTR for basic Ground Team.
