As a teacher, it is difficult sitting through the video. I feel bad for both the students & teacher. However, I cannot judge from one 5min clip as I used to hate being observed by someone I didn't know for that amount of time. It seems - from his comment @ the end - that he continually struggles with classroom management. This class is not bad. How can he redirect them appropriately as well as make the instructions more interactive vs. lecture-style? I do agree though, a frustrating job @ times.

My english teacher for freshman year was a total bitch. One kid would do something stupid and we would all suffer for it. I walked out a few times because I didn't feel like having to suffer for one kid's stupid actions. If I am in a bad mood you will all suffer and feel sorry and ashamed for it" atleast this guy is nice and not a bitch like my freshman year english teacher.

Most of the kids couldn't care less, and so the school has to wait for the kids who don't do any work and don't care. When I went to public school, I was a straight-A student. It was way too easy b/c they dumbed everything down to make it understandable to the stupidest kids. I learned nothing. It was a waste of my time. I switched to private school. Love it. Kids who don't want to learn should leave.
What's sad is this teacher is probably holding himself back from getting a job that pays twice as much simply because he refuses to give up on the students. These children don't deserve him.
Also, sending the kids out of the class is not an option in most schools. He's probably stuck with them, and will just have to deal with them ruining the serious students' concentration.

i'm suffering from the same problem ie getting kids to shut the fuck up! you need to show then you mean boss. there is no point just giving warnings without giving some sort of punishment, otherwise there's no point. also NEVER begin anything unless you have full attention of the class, ie all of them are COMPLETELY silent.
The trouble is getting kids to want to learn. If they knew what their lives would be like w/o an education, theyd be going out of their way to learn. Part of what kids need to learn is that, in reality, they are going to be held responsible for this knowledge someday, or survival will be extremely hard for them. Kids need to learn to appreciate whats being done for them. Its their lives at stake!

@submelon8 Sorry..No Child Left Behind is stupid. It's not fair to the kids who WANT to learn. Most of the kids couldn't care less, and so the school has to wait for the kids who don't do any work and don't care. When I went to public school, I was a straight-A student. It was way too easy b/c they dumbed everything down to make it understandable to the stupidest kids. I learned nothing. It was a waste of my time. I switched to private school. Love it. Kids who don't want to learn should leave.

What's sad is this teacher is probably holding himself back from getting a job that pays twice as much simply because he refuses to give up on the students. These children don't deserve him.
Also, sending the kids out of the class is not an option in most schools. He's probably stuck with them, and will just have to deal with them ruining the serious students' concentration.

I think the teacher tried to micromanage a little too much with the "please don't talk". But the students shouldn't be talking at all. The guy is trying to teach you something, so out of respect you listen to him. If not, then leave.
Also, he was for the most part teaching the class. Only every now and again was he yelling at students who were talking.

i'm suffering from the same problem ie getting kids to shut the fuck up! you need to show then you mean boss. there is no point just giving warnings without giving some sort of punishment, otherwise there's no point. also NEVER begin anything unless you have full attention of the class, ie all of them are COMPLETELY silent.

The trouble is getting kids to want to learn. If they knew what their lives would be like w/o an education, theyd be going out of their way to learn. Part of what kids need to learn is that, in reality, they are going to be held responsible for this knowledge someday, or survival will be extremely hard for them. Kids need to learn to appreciate whats being done for them. Its their lives at stake!

School today, for the most part, is absolutely ridiculous. No job in the world that actually matters requires knowledge of how to divide X+3y by 4y-(15y+1) I mean seriously come on, the only REALLY needed math are the basics and, depending on the job whether it be business or a simple cashier, percentage values etc. but not this bullshit. School is doing nothing but teaching students how to take tests.

I have taught High School, and am doing it again, and it is hell, even with all the Education classes....they don't train you for dealing with the obnoxiousness of students.
