  • I forgot about this

  • Third Eye always creeped me out.

  • world trade center at 0:10 on the wall, ahh the good old days...

  • Breakin' 3: Electric Kool Aid Man

  • I don't remember the commercials but I remember "all that" "doug" "hey arnold" and the nick game shows and "the rougrats" The 90's were fucking beast!!! Lolz

  • It was totally cool growing up in the beginning of nickelodeon, mtv etc. Kids today don't realize what they are missing!!

  • ugh, commercials back then were so annoying

  • Why the FUCK can't WE GO BACK...? one more fucknig time.

  • All of us who grew up with Nick in the 80s and 90s had the best of it. That will always live on with us, and we can see a lot of the best of it here. So despite the crap they're airing now, all is not lost.

  • wow! this had to be when nickolodeon first started airing because i dont remember any o f this...

  • OMG... M&M's were fucking huge

  • Woah! A clip from 'You Can't Do That On Television' showed a character smoking! I can't even imagine that anymore.

He looked cool, I'm going to start smoking now, too.

  • Wait I see w/ the third eye... but I didn't learn it frm, nick I learned it frm. Biller hickser

  • 4:01-4:05 WTF???????

  • The commercials are more fun to watch

  • I was born in 1988 so of course I grew up with the 90s Nickelodeon. Obviously I don't remember most of this stuff, but it seems a hell of a lot better than the garbage they play today.

  • wow that bubble magic commercial was up to date. Even in the 80's that probably looked dated.

  • thank god they still play invader zim

  • Watching these I feel a mixture of nostalgic, pissed and old. In that order.

  • wow I love how Nickelodeon was back.; Bubble Magic and all theses jingles; I wish life was just as simple as it was back than. I miss being a kid

  • lol this is way off my time...i'm a 90's baby that grew up with the 90's Nickelodeon

  • Lol... 3cpo's xD

  • Ahh, the memories. Does anybody else remember that the red M&M's were off the market back then?

  • @zadovoljan78 and you could get light brown ones in the bag too.

  • @zadovoljan78 yeahp

  • Jeez... that Kool-Aid rap was AWFUL. lol :)

  • You Can't Do That on TV, Turkey TV, The Monkees, Mr. Wizard, The Koalas... those were the days...

  • now if only they showed all 4 time zones so i knew when what would be on.

what i mean is that they only say central now. they used to show eastern, central, mountain, and pacific. that would be so much easier considering i live on two different time zones

  • I don't remember the bubble magic commercial. But I didn't get into The Beatles until I was 11 so I probably would' t gotten the connection.

  • Wow... this brings me back SOOO many years... LOL!! I love this!!

  • I remember every one of these commercials! Nickelodeon had some of the greatest shows ever, and now they are a hopeless company owned by a conglomerate (Viacom) who air crap, crap, and more crap. There is no longer educational shows (like Mr. Wizard's World), no great comedy (like You Can't Do That On Television), and no off the cuff shows (like The Third Eye). I am so glad I was born in the time I was. Now it's all about commercials, sex, violence, news and lame scripted reality TV.

  • Damn I was born in 82 and all this is so old-school even I don't remember it!

  • It wasn't Nickelodeon that let us down. All of society just sucks more now. Nickelodeon is just feeding people the garbage that they crave today.

  • *sigh* Remember the days that McD's commercials were all about kids with Happy meals instead of fast food playing "we're for grown-ups now!" games, M&Ms were friendly lil' guys instead of smartasses and everything on Nick, Sat. morn cartoons, etc. was MEANT for little ones instead of 12 year old girls wanting to be 25? Say the 80's was a time for dorks, but being a kid then was excellent, because it LET us be kids.

  • KOOL-AID MAN BREAKDANCING!

Those four words encapsulate everythin that was awsome about the 80s

  • Is it me or was Nick way more simpler back then? I love this time machine...Why couldn't the light stick commercial at: (0:30) show you the real thing instead of a cartoon..

  • @playhouserage Being a photographer, I can tell you it's probably because a glowing lightstick would only show up well on camera in total darkness. You couldn't show everyone having fun in the backyard in that case.

  • @ElectricPenguin77 I've read reviews of those made for the purchase only DVD's. They are by a third party. They are missing episodes from the fourth season of Doug. The quality is comparable to VHS tapes because they are pretty much bootlegs and aren't official mastered releases just Nick signing off a permission slip for crappy copies to be released. Excluding Pete and Pete Seasons 1 and 2 and 1 of Clarissa.

  • @ElectricPenguin77 What am I supposed to be jealous? Whooptie doo you have a PS3. It's not like I can't afford it. I meant broadly released on multiple platforms i.e. DVD Blu-Rau etc.

  • @ElectricPenguin77 Not very convenient if you must have a playstation. It should be broadly released.

  • i wish i was born so i could witness the nickelodeon of the 80s i only got to witness the nickelodeon of the 90s which for me was a great time nick shows now a days piss me off D:

  • Nick was great in the 80's the only great thing about nick today is well nick@nite but I wish they would make a classic channel for the shows we just saw in this video

  • Love that Lite-up commercial! Wonder if this could be individually uploaded?

  • koolaidman

  • wow c3po ceral was my favorite. tripped out to see this.

  • the star wars classics was the best

  • M&Ms never did melt in my hand since I remember as a kid testing them out.

  • What year is this excatly?

  • Late 1983.

  • Changed my mind. It's April or May of 1984.

  • Holy crap!!! Bubble magic!!

  • "Everyday, take off with Nickelodeon. We won't let you down!!"

...You fucking liars. You DID let us down 20 years later.

BTW, I'm half jking and half serious. =/

  • At least we were well out of our teens when that happened. (I'm assuming you were watching Nick during this time period like I was. Damn fine days.)

  • DUDE KELLOGS C-3POS HJAHAHAHA

  • What's the music called from 1:02 to 1:31? Besides, I love it.

  • @mamagirlsc Yeah, I'd like 2 know 2.

  • Hehe, cool to see Fred Newman prior to doing the voices of Skeeter and Mr. Dink on Doug!

  • Aw was that the Beatles doing the buble magic commercial? (I would've loved that as a little kid)

  • I think they should come up with a classic nickelodeon channel.

  • and a classic disney channel

  • yeah Donald Duck presents, Mousterpiece theater, dumbos circus, DTV just to name a few of the classic shows

  • I agree, Kool-Aid: OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • god... Nickelodeon today... Drake and whatever... Icarly... little teenie soap opera. WTF happend to good shit like salute your shorts, 1st season all that, david the gnome, hey dude, are you afraid of the dark, doug, and most importantly of all PETE AND PETE! Bring back old nickelodeon. FUCK THE NEW TEENY BOPPER NICK 5 star vid by the way!

  • @baraka1408 You didn't mention YCDTOT? Blasphemy! 90's had good stuff, but you could've shown nothing but YCDTOT all day and it's still have been the best, lol.

  • @HoneyNVinegar True. It was a great show. Only problem is most all of the first 2 seasons were live improvs and/or rehearsed quickly. When they aired, they aired live I think. Don't quote me... but what I'm getting at is there are no master copies of the first two seasons known to exist. The best hope we get for seeing the earliest of that show is someone with old VHS. I know some of the later seasons are available though not publicly. Just that masters do exist.

  • @baraka1408 THANK YOU! OMG!!!!

  • @baraka1408 eres un imbécil garabatero

  • @Nicolas37688 retiro lo lo dicho

  • THE THIRD EYE!!! YES!!!! I haven't seen that in sssoooooooo long!!!!

    I even remember that M&M's commercial...lol:)

  • Anyone remeber Vision On? It aired on PBS & BBC,but I wish they air it on Nickelodeon,TV Land or Nick at Nite.

  • you see the nick logo is a silver sphere!!... back in the day,... nickelodeon shared a channel with A&E... at 6pm pacific time (circa 1983), a silver sphere would fly around a city and kids would see it pass by ... a song would play telling you to 'come along...' and then after the song, A&E would start and all the litttle chiddies would be sad!

  • no one ever told them the glow sticks give off radation

  • the kool-aid guy had some tech ass shoes! haha

  • I don't no way these things make me Sad!

  • 1:42 LOL./

  • Oh man...that M&M song must have been etched on my subconscience bc I just started singing along! Cripes!

  • My grandfather woudl remener this.

  • That was when Nick's trademark was the pinball. Then, they took on the green slime theme, after "You Cant Do That On TV" wrapped. It was Nick's "flagship" show.

  • yo dude that nickelodeon logo was classic and real and on someone tv 20 years ago

  • 25 years ago about.

  • I Hate Kool Aid. But i love the commerical. that Light up stick won't sell 2day. they go out In liek 2 hours. It's a waste of money.

  • That Kool Aid sounds so awesome. That jingle. They don't have like this 2day.

My sister use to have that as a toddler. She hated it. :P:P:P:P:P:P:P:-$ :):):-*

  • I agree. I actually started watching Nick very early(caught the end of the Silver Ball era), and generally grew up on both PBS and Nick. I miss everything Nick in the 80s. They SHOULD create a new channel and dedicate it to showing nothing but 80s Nick!! I totally miss it!

  • and 90's Nick too. tw oseprate channels on cable TV. repalcing the SPN channels channel 35 In Ny will be Nick 80's and 36 will be Nick 90's. and no takign shows off of it.

  • Wow. This is amazing! I was born in '82, therefore I have no memories of the Silver Ball era. BRING BACK OLD SCHOOL NICK!!

  • I started watching nick in 86 but this seems like it's a few years before that, like 82 or something? What's the deal with that third eye show? it sounds pretty trippy

  • Does anyone have the video of TMBG performing "Why Does The Sun Shine?" on Nick Rocks in 1985?

"TMBG have been performing their version since at least 1985, with a performance from this year appearing on the television show Nick Rocks." -This Might Be A Wiki

  • i remember those damn glow sticks and the ball because in early summer 1985 i was playing with the ball at the beach and took my eye off of it and it was carried out into the river..LOL

3:25 that is a commerical for some kind of science thing, i remember cause i used to think it was for lasertag when it came on, but its actually for a science institute or some crap like that..LOL

  • Oh, That simon says do it I do game looks fun.

  • It's kind of crazy how much things have changed.

  • Nostalgia is a powerful thing...

  • actually nick sucks

  • WOW! That's a lot of memories from the 80's! Man,do I miss the old Nick.

  • Ron Jeremy at :08.

  • This is all off the air.

  • I saw Matt Dillon, Adam Ant and the Cars in those montages. Nick was pretty hip back then.

  • I miss these shows! and yet, I was born in 1995.

  • Then leave, you lying turdmunch! How dare you claim nostalgia that isn't rightfully yours?

  • This is all old. Saturday 12:50pm 10/25/08.

  • Wow, for the first time ever, I feel sooo old!! I'm only 25 but remember all of this, and watching these commercials, well, they look so dated! But in all honesty, I'm proud to be a child from 1982! Good times!

  • Sorry, I'm the same exact age as you and I have to HIGHLY doubt if you're able to recall the Nickelodeon pinball era of 1981-'84. It's highly improbably for you to have TV viewing memories dating back to your infant years (if many infants even "watch" TV).

Seriously you don't have to pretend. Sure the Gen X stuff is awesome, but there are plenty of clips here on YouTube from our early Gen Y childhood which are finely old-school in their own right.

  • 1 hour and 22 minutes left.

  • Sorry that I left my earrings @ ur house in ur room.

  • In a minute.

  • I miss Old Nickelodeon. I wasn't even born yet when this aired.

  • Oh my god, that m&m's ad was creepy.

  • I always wondered...what is that little beepy-tone thing that sounds like an old fashioned touch tone phone...they played it during commercials or in between.

  • that "3rd eye" segment was creepy. lol

  • C3PO cereal lol

  • If you were to put up some clips of "What Will They Think of Next!", especially the opening sequence... I'd see about having a statue of you put up.

  • In the livewire commercial, how come there's one card he doesn't show and tosses aside? It's like the 2nd to last card.

  • The host of Livewire reminds me so much of Billy Crystal's SNL character "Fernando" of "Fernando's Hideaway"...LOL

  • Damn I can go for a bowl of 3P0's now.....

  • they had commercials for lite sticks? And why was that family in their bathing suits in their back yard at night time? Strange family.

  • This is raw nostalgia! Truly old school Nick videos make me feel as if all is ok with the world. = ) I can't help but feel sorry for the kids who think that shows like Ren & Stimpy, or Kenan & Kel are "old school", or "classic" Nick. They don't have a clue as to what they missed, or how old Nick really is. I think if they could see the real classics like You Can't Do That On Television, and Mr. Wizard's World, or the Bill Cosby's picture pages inserts, they'd have a blast.

  • That's because all of these kids think Nickelodeon began in the 1990s. They have missed out on the truly great Nickelodeon era.

  • How many commercials/product manufacturers used that same annoying jingle? The one for the glowsticks and the song for Nabisco's Giggles cookies (in another 1980s commercial sequence posted by WREYNetwork) have that same song in the backgorund...go figure.

  • Yeah, I think there were a coupla other ads which used that same production piece.

  • DAMN!!!!!!!!

Definately makes an old geezer out of me!

  • is that harry nilsson singing the m&m commer.?

  • GODDAMN that's a huge bag of M&M's!!

  • Right around 4:00 there is a brief clip of the Red and Blue clay figures. I thought those were hilarious! Does anyone know where I can find more of them?

  • Right around 4:00 there was a very brief clip with the Red and Blue clay figures. I thought those films were HILARIOUS! Does anyone know where I can find more of them?

  • Wow, Fred Newman...the poor man's Steve Martin. Funny as hell too.

  • ahhh relaxing

  • Fred on livewire was also on MMC

  • He also did some SFX/voices for Doug and now has a show on NPR, I believe.

  • Also, check out Fred Newman on "A Prarie Home Companion" and "Between The Lions".

  • Prairie. My bad.

  • lol, "War Games, one of hollywood's most successful movies"

  • Lol, black kid in Kool Aid commercial.

  • Awesome!
