I don't remember the commercials but I remember "all that" "doug" "hey arnold" and the nick game shows and "the rougrats" The 90's were fucking beast!!! Lolz
All of us who grew up with Nick in the 80s and 90s had the best of it. That will always live on with us, and we can see a lot of the best of it here. So despite the crap they're airing now, all is not lost.
I was born in 1988 so of course I grew up with the 90s Nickelodeon. Obviously I don't remember most of this stuff, but it seems a hell of a lot better than the garbage they play today.
now if only they showed all 4 time zones so i knew when what would be on.
what i mean is that they only say central now. they used to show eastern, central, mountain, and pacific. that would be so much easier considering i live on two different time zones
I remember every one of these commercials! Nickelodeon had some of the greatest shows ever, and now they are a hopeless company owned by a conglomerate (Viacom) who air crap, crap, and more crap. There is no longer educational shows (like Mr. Wizard's World), no great comedy (like You Can't Do That On Television), and no off the cuff shows (like The Third Eye). I am so glad I was born in the time I was. Now it's all about commercials, sex, violence, news and lame scripted reality TV.
It's almost over. they should have a Nick rock 80's Block and a Nick rewind channel on a Nick Rewind channel. 6:00 The Smurfs 6:30. DangerMouse 7:00 YCDTOT 7:30 Dusty's Treehouse 8:00 Going Great 8:30 Tomorroe's People 9:00 Mr. Wizard's World 9:30 Third Eye 10:00 Out of Control 10:30 Livewire 11:00 standby.
*sigh* Remember the days that McD's commercials were all about kids with Happy meals instead of fast food playing "we're for grown-ups now!" games, M&Ms were friendly lil' guys instead of smartasses and everything on Nick, Sat. morn cartoons, etc. was MEANT for little ones instead of 12 year old girls wanting to be 25? Say the 80's was a time for dorks, but being a kid then was excellent, because it LET us be kids.
Is it me or was Nick way more simpler back then? I love this time machine...Why couldn't the light stick commercial at: (0:30) show you the real thing instead of a cartoon..
@playhouserage Being a photographer, I can tell you it's probably because a glowing lightstick would only show up well on camera in total darkness. You couldn't show everyone having fun in the backyard in that case.
@ElectricPenguin77 I've read reviews of those made for the purchase only DVD's. They are by a third party. They are missing episodes from the fourth season of Doug. The quality is comparable to VHS tapes because they are pretty much bootlegs and aren't official mastered releases just Nick signing off a permission slip for crappy copies to be released. Excluding Pete and Pete Seasons 1 and 2 and 1 of Clarissa.
@ElectricPenguin77 What am I supposed to be jealous? Whooptie doo you have a PS3. It's not like I can't afford it. I meant broadly released on multiple platforms i.e. DVD Blu-Rau etc.
i wish i was born so i could witness the nickelodeon of the 80s i only got to witness the nickelodeon of the 90s which for me was a great time nick shows now a days piss me off D:
Nick was great in the 80's the only great thing about nick today is well nick@nite but I wish they would make a classic channel for the shows we just saw in this video
god... Nickelodeon today... Drake and whatever... Icarly... little teenie soap opera. WTF happend to good shit like salute your shorts, 1st season all that, david the gnome, hey dude, are you afraid of the dark, doug, and most importantly of all PETE AND PETE! Bring back old nickelodeon. FUCK THE NEW TEENY BOPPER NICK 5 star vid by the way!
@baraka1408 You didn't mention YCDTOT? Blasphemy! 90's had good stuff, but you could've shown nothing but YCDTOT all day and it's still have been the best, lol.
@HoneyNVinegar True. It was a great show. Only problem is most all of the first 2 seasons were live improvs and/or rehearsed quickly. When they aired, they aired live I think. Don't quote me... but what I'm getting at is there are no master copies of the first two seasons known to exist. The best hope we get for seeing the earliest of that show is someone with old VHS. I know some of the later seasons are available though not publicly. Just that masters do exist.
you see the nick logo is a silver sphere!!... back in the day,... nickelodeon shared a channel with A&E... at 6pm pacific time (circa 1983), a silver sphere would fly around a city and kids would see it pass by ... a song would play telling you to 'come along...' and then after the song, A&E would start and all the litttle chiddies would be sad!
That was when Nick's trademark was the pinball. Then, they took on the green slime theme, after "You Cant Do That On TV" wrapped. It was Nick's "flagship" show.
I agree. I actually started watching Nick very early(caught the end of the Silver Ball era), and generally grew up on both PBS and Nick. I miss everything Nick in the 80s. They SHOULD create a new channel and dedicate it to showing nothing but 80s Nick!! I totally miss it!
and 90's Nick too. tw oseprate channels on cable TV. repalcing the SPN channels channel 35 In Ny will be Nick 80's and 36 will be Nick 90's. and no takign shows off of it.
I started watching nick in 86 but this seems like it's a few years before that, like 82 or something? What's the deal with that third eye show? it sounds pretty trippy
Does anyone have the video of TMBG performing "Why Does The Sun Shine?" on Nick Rocks in 1985?
