hm... I think this is really beautiful, but honestly it doesn't seem quite dynamic enough (especially with that crazy music). maybe it's just the medium, I don't know..

but certain things seemed too stilted, even for shadowy-puppet-things. like the firebird/cat fight, or... would it have been impossible to have the Black Dog actually carry the girl rather than just picking her up by the head? etc. etc.

Yeah, non-linear story telling... some people find it difficult. That's OK, you'll get the hang of it as you grow up.

Again, what book? It's an amalgamation of several Russian and Western fairy tales, and even if it was based on one story, it depends upon which version you read,

I worked on it part-time whilst working a day job and running my webcomic. That said, it took about two months start to finish, but in reality I could have done the animation in about a weeks worth of hours.

It was only my second attempt so progress is still a little on the slow side.
