umm.. the thing to help an apple not get dark is to dip it in orange, lemon or any citrus juice... it may taste sour but it helps it not get dark....

He cute his apple really fast so it didn't really have much time to brown, but if you want to keep it from browning, then put lemon juice on it. It'll prevent the open areas of the fruit from turning

the enzyme that makes the apple flesh turn brown is deactivated. some acids you can use:Ascorbic acid, better known as vitamin C. Look for it in the canning section or pharmacy as powder. Apply directly or dissolved in water (1/2 tsp. per 2 1/2 cups of water[4]).

or Lemon or lime juice. It's not as effective as ascorbic acid, but it'll do in a pinch, and they're more readily available. The juice can be diluted up to 3:1. Lemon juice will have a less obvious taste than lime juice.

@JLONess you have a salt water solution, and whenever you make a cut, either dip it in the water, or sprinkle the salt water on it, it will help prevent the apple from turning brown

I never eat the stuff I carve but I will end up messing them big time. Also, when I carve apples, it tends to get darkened and bruised. But I think you can carve it better using the carving knife? Or the texture of the apple make it difficult for the carving knife?? I dunno..I'm so bad at carving but I'm learning it in school now.
